Hello, zope users. Can you tell me what i need to do if i want for example to store on filesystem 'File' content type from Plone? (i tried but it works for me only with Zope 'File'). Should i write mapper for that type on my own? (And if so, where to start?) Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Ruslan

I think there is an error in the file that fails to import - bad indentation or something simple like that. That is usually what causes failed imports, and I notice that you usually do not get a helpful error message to tell you that. Also, it would be a good idea to stop Zope and restart it after making whatever changes, just in case (I am not sure about whether you need to do this with products, but it would be worth trying). I try to make all my modules self-checking using a __main__ routine, just so I can make sure they really compile and run, including all the imports. Makes life much simpler. Cheers, Tom P

ODBC + Linux

Hi, first thanks to everyone who helped with the matter. Secondly, I would like to report on the two solutions we find to make a Zope on Linux talk to a SQL-Server-2000 DB on W2K: 1)Using freeTDS we wrote a shell script that is called by a Python script, saves the query results to a tmp file that is read into a string object and finally rendered. The problem is the number of IO operations in highly usage environments. 2)Using ZDataQuery + ODBC socket server on W2K Some remarks: we expect some hundreds queries a day, no updates on the DB. The resulting sets are relative small. Bye for now, Rogerio ------------------------------------------------- E-mail enviado pelo Webmail CensaNET http://www.censanet.com.br/webmail

First, I realized I did not need profile.py so I removed that line of code. What you say about not importing directories makes sense. However the following doesn't: My Structure has the following -FGDC (directory) - __init__.py - profile.py - DISTRIB.py The line I had that read from Products.Resources.FGDC import profile failed as you said it should. However, this line works like a charm: from Products.Resources.FGDC import DISTRIB BTW, I always interpreted this to mean from <directory> import <module> Can you explain the *why's* on this one?? Even though I can move forward with my coding, my mind is still stuck on why this is? And you can import a package itself. Here is working code from my Extensions directory that illustrates the point. "gcm is a __package__, and "code" is a package nested under "gcm". gcmdriver is a module in gcm\code. from gcm.code import gcmdriver from gcm import BASEPATH The following also work - import gcm.code from gcm import code Cheers, Tom P

An import that fails when the import statement looks perfectly fine is often an indication that there is an error in the module to be imported. It could be a simple indentation error, or something more serious. What is the error message? Import statements import packages, not directories. The __init__.py statement is processed when you import the package, and the modules are processed when you import them from the package. Although most __init__.py files are empty, some code does some really serious work in them I like to use them to store the absolute directory path, which I can use withr elative paths to compute where to put or find files - like this (in the __init__.py ) - import os.path BASEPATH=os.path.dirname(__file__) Then you can import BASEPATH from the package. Zope, COM and Outlook
by Igor Leturia 28 May '03

Hi all! I need to obtain someone's e-mail address from Outlook's default address book. I found a piece of python code in the internet which I modified, and it now looks like this: import codecs, win32com.client def obtainaddress(name): # Create instance of Outlook o = win32com.client.Dispatch("Outlook.Application") mapi = o.GetNamespace("MAPI") folder = mapi.GetDefaultFolder(win32com.client.constants.olFolderContacts) print folder.Item("Igor Leturia").Address o = None obtainaddress('Igor') The code needs win32com, so I installed ActivePython and copied the win32com folder to Zope's lib. I tested the code in Zope's python and it works. But as I need to access it from Zope, I included the function in one of the Zope source modules (User.py to be precise). And when I call it from DTML, it gives me an error: Error Type: com_error Error Value: (-2147221008, 'CoInitialize not called.', None, None) I've put some traces and I know the error is in the first line, o = win32com.client.Dispatch("Outlook.Application"). Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Igor Leturia P.S.: Zope's traceback says: Traceback (innermost last): File C:\Zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File C:\Zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File C:\Zope\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Zope) File C:\Zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File C:\Zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: AAAAA) File C:\Zope\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: AAAAA) File C:\Zope\lib\python\OFS\DTMLMethod.py, line 130, in __call__ (Object: AAAAA) File C:\Zope\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: AAAAA) File C:\Zope\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Util.py, line 159, in eval (Object: acl_users.getUser('IGOR').getMail()) (Info: acl_users) File <string>, line 2, in f File C:\Zope\lib\python\AccessControl\User.py, line 299, in getMail File C:\Archivos de programa\Python21\Lib\site-packages\win32com\client\__init__.py, line 92, in Dispatch File C:\Archivos de programa\Python21\Lib\site-packages\win32com\client\dynamic.py, line 81, in _GetGoodDispatchAndUserName File C:\Archivos de programa\Python21\Lib\site-packages\win32com\client\dynamic.py, line 72, in _GetGoodDispatch com_error: (see above)

I have tried both. The name of the class I am trying to import is profile. So I put from Products.Resources.FGDC import profile and I get 'cannot import name profile' When I try from Products.Resources.FGDC import * I get 'no module named FGDC'. But I promise there is and there is a __init__ file there this time. This module is used from many other parts in my product. I have the PYTHONPATH right and an __init__ in both the FGDC and extensions folders. I am at a loss for what is happening here. Any help is appreciated, this is the last task before deployment.
