Hello All, I'm not sure if the title accurately reflects what I want to do. I have a DTML method that uses a number of other objects and generates HTML code (the usual). What I'd like to do is assign/save the HTML code the method generates. I'd like to save the HTML as a BLOB in a database, and next time a user calls up a particular report, if the source data hasn't changed, publish the pre-rendered HTML. The underlying SQL queries are complex, the data doesn't change often, and I think this may be the best way to lighten the burden on the DB. Is this possible? If so, how would I go about accomplishing this? Perhaps there's a better way of accomplishing this? Thanks in advance. Regards, Samir

Pros and Cons of Different Hosting Solutions

This is a topic that comes up every so often, but I'm curious to hear different people's experience. I'm starting to work with clients on Zope-based solutions, but don't yet have a good answer as to how best to host domains that use Zope. What are some of the pros and cons of these solutions that people on the list have found: * Custom Zope hosting (say, by exposing a part of the ZMI using a VirtualHostMonster) * Virtual Linux or BSD hosting where you install Zope yourself, probably with limited root access * Any other kind of arrangement folks are using that don't involve setting up your own ISP :-) What works well for folks, and what have people found to be best buy for themselves and for their clients? I've gone through the list of Zope Solution Providers, but this doesn't really tell me how to choose between them, or if I should be looking for something more general than any of them. uploading large files w/ LocalFS

Hi, I am trying to allow remote developers to upload large development tarballs onto our web server using LocalFS. The problem is when upload files are larger than 20MB the server times out. Does anyone have a better solution of allowing users to upload large files onto a Linux based webserver? Is https the right protocol for large file transfer? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. Specs: Pent III 800 Mhz 128 MB Ram Zope using proxyPass through Apache Client's Browsers: Mozilla 1.1 & Konqueror 2.2.2 Thanks, Mike

That is the traceback we need. Unfortunately, I can't make much sense of it. Does 'my_query' work if it is called only once in that page? After a little bit of google searching, I've found two things: 1) http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2000-January/101259.html ZODBCDA has been doing this for a long time and no one has posted any (easily located) fixes. 2) http://www.zope.org/Products/DA/ZODBCDA ZODBCDA is free, but is old and hasn't been updated/bugfixed. It is a binary release, but is licensed ZPL - unusual. I wonder if the creator would release source for this... The other options I see would be to use freeTDS on a *nix system or purchase eGenix.com's mxODBC Zope DA. Hello I didn't find the equivalent commands in python (script) for this two dmtl commands: <dtml-try> ... <dtml-except DatabaseError> <dtml-if "error_type == 'IntegrityError'"> ... </dtml-if> <dtml-else> ... </dtml-try> --- try: ... except DatabaseError: if error_type == 'IntegrityError': ... else: ... doesn't work. Have I to import something to access the variables, or what am I missing? Acquisition and index_html in parent folder

Hi, in the root folder i have an index_html that combines a "menu" file in the root folder and some files like "content" and "slogan" that can be found in subfolders. From a script called in "Somefolder" i tried a return statement like: return context.index_html So that the index_html (only beeing in the root folder) renders with "content" and "slogan" files found in "Somefolder". Unfortunately this return line gives me an NameError: "global name 'absolute_url' is not defined". debugging spinning zope

On my Zope development server, I have gotten Zope into the following state: When I start it, it appears to work. It responds to malformed requests with an HTTP 500, to incorrect pages with an HTTP 404, but for any valid request, it just spins. It correctly logs the errors in Z2.log, but does not log the valid requests. Medusa logs my connections, but spins rather than giving me a login prompt. A clever fellow on #zope sent me to: http://www.zope.org/Members/4am/debugspinningzope but I've had some problems with it: 1) my var/Z2.pid file only contains one process id. 2) If I choose any of the zope processes to attach to, I can successfully attach to them, and successfully "info threads", but none of the threads are using much CPU, and running the PyRunSimpleString command on them always turns out badly. Any pointers? Debian, python2.1.3, Zope2.6.1 (compiled from source, not using Debian pkg.) --dk
