RE: [Zope] Zcatalog & KeywordIndex
by John Toews 20 May '03

Thanks! I actually have the Zope book right in front of me but that didn't pop out. Now that I created it as a text index it seems to work fine. Are there any better books on Zope (I hope that question isn't sacrilege), preferably focusing on Python over DTML. -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Jung [mailto:andreas@andreas-jung.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 2:18 PM To: John Toews; zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] Zcatalog & KeywordIndex --On Dienstag, 20. A keyword is as the name says a keyword. Means: you can only search for existing keywords and you *can not* use partial words. That's what fulltext indexes are for. Check the Zope Book for details! -aj

how to avoid a redirect ?
by Joachim Schmitz 20 May '03

20 May '03

or better how to finish a transaction programmaticaly ? I have a form, which list object and a checkbox beside each line, where I can mark objects for deletion. The delete-method deletes the checked objects but when I just do a return context.listForm() in my delete-method, the deleted objects still show up, only after a reload of the form they are really gone. if I do a return context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect(context.REQUEST.get("HTTP_REFERER")) the list is directly refreshed. I assume, that's because the transaction is not finished in the first case. So my question is there a way to finish the transaction programmatically ? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen Joachim Schmitz -------------------------------------------------------------------- AixtraWare Ingenieurbüro für Internetanwendungen Telefon: +49-2464-8851, FAX: +49-2464-905163 --------------------------------------------------------------------

RE: [Zope] Examining Properties of Returned Object

Thanks Troy. I wasn't clear in my earlier email... I know how to get at the attribute/method of an object if I know what it's name is. By using someobj.attributename or someobj.methodname() (or using 'getattr(....)'). But how do I enumerate all attributes & methods associated with an object when I don't know the structure of the object (i.e., as if I was exploring the object in a debugger)? I've been using Dieter Maurer's DocFinderEverywhere extensively to get info on generic objects returned by Zope (thanks Dieter, very helpful product, especially for beginners), but obviously it has it's limitations. Thanks again. Is it TAL(ES), DTML, another python script, a zope product or an external method? Unfortunately, each of these has some slightly different methods... Did you try obj.myattribute or getattr(obj, myattribute) or (in TAL) obj/myattribute Thanks. Newbie Question: First browsing no response
by warren_chambliss＠agilent.com 20 May '03

Hello, I'm new to Zope, I downloaded Zope and installed on my RedHat 9.0 machine. I ran "install" and "start" with no problem. However when I try my initial browsing both to localhost on the same machine, or from a remote machine, the browser sits there indefinitely. Sometimes it draws the frame borders, and once it put up some of the navigator frame, but it won't complete retrieving the rest of the first page. I get the same results with both Mozilla and Internet Explorer. I made sure Apache was disabled before installing and starting Zope. Can anyone help? I tried searching archives of this group, but my queries are too vague to nail down if I'm having a common problem. Thanks, Warren Chambliss

calling the default login form

Hi, I have a table of projects generated from a database that I want visible to even the anonymous user, but want to reload it by getting the person in charge of a project to login and displaying an 'edit' link opposite his projects. How can I call up the login window so that the person can login and the following dtml be rendered without having to change the security settings for this object? <dtml-if expr="(_.SecurityGetUser().getUserName()==responsible)or('JobManager' in _.SecurityGetUser().getRolesInContext(BE))"> TIA Marie Robichon Web Task Force European Synchrotron Radiation Facility BP 220 38043 Grenoble Cedex France http://www.esrf.fr Tel: (33) 04 76 88 21 86 Fax: (33) 04 76 88 24 27

[Security] When are permissions accessible to scripts in skins?
by Jean Jordaan 20 May '03

20 May '03

Hi all In my product's __init__.py, I register the permission 'Manage OrganisationPosition': context.registerClass( OrganisationPosition.OrganisationPosition, permission = 'Manage OrganisationPosition', constructors = ( OrganisationPosition.manage_addOrganisationPositionForm, OrganisationPosition.manage_addOrganisationPosition), ) The product contains skins, which include scripts I want to protect with permissions I define. I use a file 'script.py.security' containing: Manage OrganisationPosition:acquire:Manager,Administrator This results in the following error: 2003-05-20T13:42:13 ERROR(200) DirectoryView Error setting permission from .security file information Traceback (innermost last): File [...]/Products/CMFCore/DirectoryView.py, line 293, in prepareContents File /usr/local/zope/Zope-2.6.1-src/lib/python/AccessControl/Role.py, line 174, in manage_permission (Object: position_add) Invalid Permission: The permission <em>Manage OrganisationPosition</em> is invalid. Is this intended behaviour? What permissions are valid for inclusion in .security files? If I use the "View" permission, I get no error. Regards, -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za

Thanks for the help. I assume I'm experiencing the threading issue with RedHat 9.0 that others have been discussing on this group. I will try to upgrade the kernel and glibc to remedy.
