For starters, place the code in the standard_html_header file in the root of your Zope instance. Save Zope (and me) before Citrix!
by Jaroslav Lukesh 20 May '03

20 May '03

Hi all, My chief tell me that I need forget to Zope, because Nfuse-Elite from Citrix will be better - it cost long money, so our customers will pay more (ve are Value-Added-Reseller mainly). But NFE is nothing more than _few_templates_ and (of course) one DLL ISAPI library for IIS. CDA (Content DElivery Agents) are in Zope similar too, but more powerfull. And NFE cost ten-thousands USD. CDA is written in Visual Basic (we have one programmer in VB), Zope need Python (I was start to learn Python, but must break :-(( Could somebody show me some more aspect for Zope to argumentate? And how to sell open-source solutions? Chief says me that I does not make profit with open-source solutions. I am not businessmann, I am technician and chief and our businessmans is microsoft-ass and is not able to sell solutions in open-source. He sells software, hardware and mainly _service_time_. With Zope I have very small amount of service time to our customers, SW is free, so customers pay very very little and chief is like orangutan. For Example. I have 20 service hours/month, my college that make M$ solutions have 150 hours/month and working in nights and so. Clients that I serve are settle with my services. Time to change company? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

RE: [Zope] Saving a Julian Date solved

Hi, Thanks Troy, I needed to use Python (int_to_string) to convert the integer value to string and this is much cleaner. -----Original Message----- From: Troy Farrell [mailto:troy@entheossoft.com] Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 12:53 PM To: McDonnell, Larry Cc: 'Zope@Zope. Org' (E-mail) Subject: Re: [Zope] Saving a Julian Date solved I know nothing about Julian dates, but I can see that this would be much cleaner as a python script: from DateTime import DateTime now = DateTime() j_year = str(now.yy()[1]) j_day = str(now.dayOfYear()) j_date = j_year + j_day return j_date Name the script julianDate and call it with <dtml-var julianDate> or <span tal:replace="here/julianDate">3140</span> Hope that helps. Data loss after packing in 2.6.1?
by Marius Gedminas 20 May '03

20 May '03

I'm not sure if this is a known bug, or if I've stumbled on something new. I've packed a 300 Mb Data.fs recently (leaving 7 days of history). Thie resulting data.fs was still biggish, so I packed it again (leaving 0 days of history). Then interesting effects started to happen: a Folder just disappeared, then appeared back for a short time, and then disappeared again after a couple of seconds. (Of course, this might have been caused by caching effects or a bug in Mozilla.) What rattles me is that fstest.py finds no errors in the Data.fs after the first pack, yet that folder is gone there. (fstest.py finds a transaction mismatch in Data.fs after the second pack, and fsrecover.py discards absolutely all data from it.) Is this a known issue? I do not think there were any Undo records involved, and I'd expect fstest.py to barf if there were any dangling backpointers, so I suspect collector issue 875 does not apply here. (I use fstest.py from Zope-2.6.1-src, not a CVS version.) Another question: is there a command line tool that given a path to Data.fs and a location in it would produce a .zexp or .xml of an object at that location? File info from external ftp
by HP Knoll 20 May '03

20 May '03

Hi, In our Zope based Website we use an external (non-zope) ftp-server where users can download program updates, manuals etc. We do this because we have a much better / cheaper bandwidth on the external server. >From within zope I have a sort of 'link object' that points to these files, so that users don't notice the difference. When I list these objects in a directory (via dtml-in) I would also like to show automatically the date and the size of the external file. Does anybody know how this can be accomplished easily from within zope ? Thanks Hans
