RE: [Zope] custom searching by field

Zope's ZCatalog uses indexes with the names of the attributes or accessor methods that get your field values. If you have an index called 'manager' that is a FieldIndex, you can search that for an exact value, and nothing else will get searched. This, of course, assumes you write templates and scripts to query the catalog for the right index. Problem calling script on PT via URL
by Jon Whitener 08 May '03

08 May '03

Why am I getting this behavior when trying to call a script on a Page Template? Consider this folder hierarchy with objects: /departments/ | ----funScript (Script Python) | ----webmaster/ | ----thePT (Page Template) funScript simply returns a string (although I want it to do more). I get the string in my browser as expected if I call either: /departments/funScript /departments/webmaster/funScript But, if I call /departments/webmaster/thePT/funScript It simply returns to the top of thePT. Huh? No error, just this unexpected behavior. Ultimately, I want funScript to change a property on thePT (another challenge), but first I need to know why this script isn't acting as expected when called on thePT. Any wisdom would be very helpful. TIA! Jon Whitener Detroit Michigan USA

login and permissions
by Sridevi Vanka 07 May '03

07 May '03

Hi, I have a zclass called commitment in a product in the products folder. If I want to create a new commitment (instance of the exisitng zclass), it doesnot let me create unless I am a manageer. If the user has a owner permission, it says not authorized. But, I dont want to give manager permission to users. And also, I want to use a relational database for log-in process of normal users who use the application. Though the relational database says the user is authorized, zope is asking is for login information while the user tries to create a new commitment. Since the login information is only stored in relational database, zope says not authorized. Thnaks for the help,Sridevi Vanka --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
