(2) is a DTML error because an object cannot have a name that includes "()". An expression in double quotes is evaluated as a Python expression and the results displayed. In Python, propertyValues (without any parentheses) returns the Python object of that name. If that object is a function, it is not called (because the "()" are missing), just returned as an object. How that object is displayed depends on the type of object. Python and DTML access the same collection of objects (since DTML is using Python to do its accessing). Cheers, Tom P

What are quotes doing here: 1: <dtml-var propertyValues> 2: <dtml-var propertyValues()> 3: <dtml-var "propertyValues"> 4: <dtml-var "propertyValues()"> 1 and 4 gives the same result. 2 gives Error Type: KeyError; Error Value: propertyValues(). 3 gives a > Where can I find information about syntax etc? Hello, I've created a ZCTextIndex Lexicon object called 'ZCTextLexicon' in the root of my plone portal. However, when I try to add a ZCTextIndex in my portal_catalog tool, I get the following error (shown at the end of this e-mail). Anyone seen this before? Calling a sequence-item functions
by Wim Bekker 09 May '03

09 May '03

I would like to call a python function from a sequence item: <dtml-in "Catalog(page_type='issuedtml')" prefix="x"> 1: <dtml-var expr="x_item.title"> 2: <dtml-var expr="x_item.GetTitle()"> 3: <dtml-var expr="x_item.GetObjectTitle(x_item)"> in class TrackerSupport I have: def GetTitle(self) return self.title def GetObjectTitle(self, object) return object.title 1: gives the correct title 2: gives the title from the page where the dtml code is in. 3: gives the correct title. Why is GetTitle not working? Where can I find some info on this subject? Wim

Displaying propertyValues for sequence-items
by Wim Bekker 09 May '03

I would like to see the propertyValues for sequence-items but I cannot get any results. I've tried the following: <dtml-in "Catalog()" prefix="x"> 1: <dtml-var x_item.propertyValues> 2: <dtml-var expr= x_item.propertyValues> 3: <dtml-var expr=x_item.propertyValues> 4: <dtml-var "x_item.propertyValues"> 5: <dtml-var expr="x_item.propertyValues"> 6: <dtml-var x_item.propertyValues()> 7: <dtml-var expr= x_item.propertyValues()> 8: <dtml-var "x_item.propertyValues()"> 9: <dtml-var expr="x_item.propertyValues()"> </dtml-in> Results: 1: Error Value: x_item.propertyValues 2: IE cannot display the page (because of the space after the = ?) 3: displays > 4: displays > 5: displays > 6: Error Value: x_item.propertyValues() 7: displays [''] 8: displays [''] 9: displays [''] What am I doing wrong? What is the attribute expr? It is not documented in the DTML reference. Where can I find documenation about these kind of issues? Wim

Re: [Zope-dev] PROPOSAL: ZODB Relationships
by Lennart Regebro 09 May '03

09 May '03

Jean Jordaan wrote: > You could still delete the storage if you wanted to kill all stored > relations, couldn't you? Well, yes, which yet again makes me think this is not a good path forward. It feels to me that the relation either should be stored in the object, and indexed somewhere, or there should be one central secret invisible storage. The relationship between two objects should not be deletable from "outside" the object, that seems really weird. If the relationship really is stored outside the object, then the only way to delete that relationship should be through an API. (With reasonable exceptions, such as deleting the ZODB, and setting Application.__relations = None, or something like that).

getting the data from a large File object in a python script
by Oliver Bleutgen 09 May '03

09 May '03

Question see subject. The problem is that file.data is not a string if the file is large enough (it's a linked list), and fileobj.data.next is not callable through a python script, so my ideas have run out. I want to insert an uploaded csv file into a database and don't want to use an external method for that .... TIA, oliver

CookieCrumbler and restricted Access
by Andreas Pakulat 09 May '03

09 May '03

Hi, I now use CookieCrumbler to authenticate the users, but I still got a problem. But first let me explain the site structure a bit: <HOME> |- acl_users - with all site-related users |- CookieCrumbler's cookie_authentication |- News | |- index_html | |- Editinterface The Problem is within the News folder, the index_html is accessible for everybody, but contains a dtml-if so that a Link to EditInterface is only provided for Logged in users. This works fine, but if I click this Link I have to authenticate again, even if I'm already logged in?! I've only disabled Acuirement for the View-permission of this file and set it for the Manager and the Webeditor role. Or do I have to add another cookie_authenticate to each Subfolder?
