ZRTChat content to external files?
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 11 Apr '03

11 Apr '03

Hi, I am using ZRTChat. This product, though very simple, really seems to work well. I've cleaned up the interface, and it may be viable in production. The only undesirable feature that I can see is that it fills up the ZODB with chat, that is, logs all chat messages internally to Zope. In a heavy chat situation, this would fill up Zope rather quickly. My question-- ZRTChat stores each chat message in a standard Zope folder object. Would it be possible to replace that folder with some sort of external file product that would allow these messages to be stored externally to Zope? What would that product be? I have used the ExtFile Product, but only to read files that are stored externally. I have no idea if it allows you to write external files. To all potential Zope chat product developers-- things I would like to see in future Zope chat products are threaded dialogs (each user displays as a different color), a list of who is available for chat, and private chat. Persistant session.
by Brenton Bills 11 Apr '03

11 Apr '03

Greetings guys, We have a small demo site that we would like to record who vists and if they come back give a little message saying we know who they are and we welcome them back. To do this I am using Session. The thing is we want the data to be persistant so we are attempting to write the data out to a db. So we set the add/del to be two python scripts. our add one is something like this, args==item, container. <start> ZopeID = container.browser_id_manager.getBrowserId() records = container.sqlLstSession(zsession_key=ZopeID) if len(records) == 0: # Database hold no session row for this session # Create a new row for this session container.sqlInsSession(zsession_key=ZopeID) # Regardless of wether we just created the session row, or one existed already, update it with item container.sqlUpdSessionData(zsession_key=ZopeID, zsession_value=item) </end> Except when we call REQUEST.SESSION.set('test_item','test_value'), the data in the contents of the SESSION data structure contains no data, eg. demo=# select * from zsession_data; zsession_key | zsession_value ---------------------+-------------------------------------------------------------------- 76055663A0wuh14y-MQ | id: 10500762450365664153, token: 76055663A0wuh14y-MQ, contents: [] (1 row) Have we done something wrong in where we presume the update gets called? How do we get just the contents of the item? Regards, Brenton Bills.

Re: [Zope] Reverse Aquisition!

I think that this is possible using the transparent folder object. Hth, Jamie Jamie(a)brobus.net -----Original Message----- From: zope-admin(a)zope.org [mailto:zope-admin@zope.org] On Behalf Of Mark Stangroom Sent: Friday, April 11, 2003 10:20 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Reverse Aquisition! I know aquistion in Zope works it way up the tree until it reaches the root so you can embed one document in another when its higher up the tree. Is it possible to do this in reverse so that i can embed a document which is in a sub directory lower down the tree? Hope this makes sense! How to prevent Localizer to grab another language when the default is not available
by Jean Baltus 11 Apr '03

11 Apr '03

Hi all, I have a multilingual web site in French, English and Dutch. I was wondering how to prevent Localizer to display, lets say, the English version when the French version for a message (in message catalog) is empty. I would prefer Localizer to display the empty string instead. Is it possible? -- Jean

We enjoy using it for > introduce html text into articles and other types that i created... You have to create an external method in the root of your plone: id: install_ve Module Name: CMFVisualEditor.Install Function Name: install then click on test. I'm not sure, but I think you also have to configure it as the content editor in the personalize_form (myPreferences) I'm not using it in a production server. But in my test installation it works. Problems with manage_afterAdd in Python Product
by Sven Rudolph 11 Apr '03

Hello all, I have written a small product called MyProduct: MyProduct(CatalogAware,Implicit,Persistent,RoleManager,PropertyManager,ObjectManager,Item,Historical,Folder): """ """ ...(etc.) Every time I try to copy&paste, cut&paste an instance of this product I get Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: manage_afterAdd The traceback is: Traceback (innermost last): File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 114, in publish File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: home2) File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 98, in publish File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: manage_pasteObjects) File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: manage_pasteObjects) File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/OFS/CopySupport.py, line 160, in manage_pasteObjects (Object: home2) File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/OFS/ObjectManager.py, line 267, in _setObject (Object: home2) File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/CatalogAwareness.py, line 46, in manage_afterAdd File /home/medizin/zope/zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/CatalogAwareness.py, line 46, in manage_afterAdd AttributeError: (see above) I understand that this error has something to do with inheriting from CatalogAware. manage_afterAdd is called after paste so the object can tell its default_catalog about its new path I belive. Error: The ZGadflyDA product must be installed
by Gabriele Bartolini 11 Apr '03

11 Apr '03

Hi guys, first ... I am really a newbie and this is the first time I am trying Zope seriously (and I think it is a great product!). I have installed Zope 2.6.1 from sources, together with Python 2.1.3 on my Linux RH 7.3 in the '/opt/zope/Zope-2.6.1-src' dir, and I am running it through this command: ./start -u zope -D -w 6666 -f 6621 -L 'it_IT' I am trying now to install a new Zope tutorial in the main folder, but once I put the tutorial Id, I get this error: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: The ZGadflyDA product must be installed! Here is my sys.path, according to the debug information page: sys.path (consider that the directory /opt/zope/zope is a symbolic link to the original dir): /opt/zope/zope/lib/python /opt/zope/zope /opt/zope/zope /usr/local/lib/python2.1/lib-dynload /usr/local/lib/python2.1 /usr/local/lib/python2.1/plat-linux2 /usr/local/lib/python2.1/lib-tk /usr/local/lib/python2.1/site-packages I hope you can solve this problem. I am sure it is a simple thing ... it's just that it's hard to be discovered by a newbie.
