object lookups
by Danny Nielsen 27 Mar '03

27 Mar '03

Hi I need to lookup objects of the same type from where I stand and all the way to the root-object (all mailhost-type objects) so that I might choose one of them from a pulldown-list. Is this possible? Regards Danny Nielsen

POSKeyError, help, please.
by Stefan A. Nagey 27 Mar '03

27 Mar '03

I've been struggling with this one non-stop since last night. I work at an ISP, we keep our customer records in zope. Somehow, i seem to have lost records for nearly 1/4 of our customers. I've tried deleting the index, packing the DB, exporting and then importing into a fresh Data.fs, using fsrecover.py i've also tried fsrefs.py, which tells me that i'm missing a bunch of objects. The size of my Data.fs is prettymuch unchanged, which might suggest that the data is still there, but how do i get to it? What can I do that I haven't tried already, or, what have i messed up that doing again will make all my worries go away. any help would be very much appreciated. thanks stefan

And you seem to forget the NS 4.xx. Not widely used today but still! Until we get perfect browsers it is a good idea to have degree of control of how the HTML gets formatted. > More generally, the designers are getting annoyed that the > formatting of their markup is not being preserved. Well... It's not really the designer but the HTML coder that gets annoyed. Most of the times it is the same person... And let's face it, in the current status of affairs in browser world they have their reasons! > I wish I had the time and energy to convince people not to > use dozens of tables filled with 1px images, but I don't. Do you honestly think that html-coders/designers enjoy the "universal" 1px hack? Why convince the page designers? :-o Try the people that design the standards... And the rendering engines in browsers! Anyway, for various reasons we need some control over how we get the html formatted.

Re: [Zope] Catalog problem/only searchable when logged in
by Michael Havard 27 Mar '03

Well I found my problem and it appears it's nothing to do with catalog or zsyncer but with my own stupidity. I didn't check the expiration date on the content. The content had expired so only those with author permissions could see it once logged in... BIG DUH I found the CVS listing for CMFStaging but no documentation. Can anyone point me to documentation about how CMFStaging works, how to install it etc. >From: "Michael Havard" <nhavar(a)hotmail.com> >To: chrisw(a)nipltd.com >CC: zope(a)zope.org >Subject: Re: [Zope] Catalog problem/only searchable when logged in >Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 15:01:08 +0000 > >I'm finding nothing on the CMFStaging product. A browser should not. If you want to read the output from time to time, and all else fails, use a pretty-printer like Tidy. (No matter how a program formats markup, it will not suit everyone anyway).

ZopeTree cookie patch
by Jean Jordaan 27 Mar '03

27 Mar '03

Hi Philipp The attached patch fixes it for me. It sets a path for the cookie. It gets the path either from the 'path' attribute (if root_object is a TreeObjectWrapper) or from 'getPhysicalPath'. The 'path' attribute on TreeObjectWrapper is initialised using 'getPhysicalPath' if it was not passed in. The patch changes the signature of TreeObjectWrapper.__init__, and makes assumptions about the use of the 'path' attribute. -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za diff -ru /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py --- /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py Thu Mar 13 10:34:38 2003 +++ ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py Thu Mar 27 10:03:14 2003 @@ -29,8 +29,11 @@ __allow_access_to_unprotected_subobjects__ = 1 - def __init__(self, path, obj): - self.path = path + def __init__(self, obj, path=None): + if path: + self.path = path # njj: How is this intended to be used? + else: + self.path = '/'.join(obj.getPhysicalPath()); self.object = obj self.id = obj.getId() self.folderish = obj.isPrincipiaFolderish diff -ru /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py --- /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py Thu Mar 27 09:27:54 2003 +++ ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py Thu Mar 27 10:19:41 2003 @@ -103,8 +103,11 @@ def __init__(self, root_object, id_attr='getId', children_attr='objectValues', request=None, request_variable='tree-expansion'): tree_expansion = request.get(request_variable, "") + # If root_object is a TreeObjectWrapper, it has a path attribute + path = getattr(root_object, 'path', + '/'.join(root_object.getPhysicalPath())) if tree_expansion: - request.RESPONSE.setCookie(request_variable, tree_expansion) # set a cookie right away + request.RESPONSE.setCookie(request_variable, tree_expansion, path=path) # set a cookie right away expanded_nodes = self.decodeTreeExpansion(tree_expansion) else: expanded_nodes = []
