CMFCollectorNG how to questions?
by Asad Quraishi 12 Mar '03

Can anyone point me to documentation describing how to use CMFCollectorNG? The install is straight forward enough and I have adapted it for Plone as per the the install docs but it is not as simple to use as I thought it might be. Thanks.

What's the syntax for building a 'result' variable such as that that is returned by an SQL query? TIA Rick

CookieUserFolder: migration and IE6 problems
by Gidon Friedman 12 Mar '03

12 Mar '03

Hi My CookieUserFolder works fine with mozilla 1.2.1, but doesn't work in IE6. in IE6 it shows the password dialog on every page. The pages are showing after entering of the password. until on some funktion it show a http-authorization dialog and from that point it works. this is possibly related to the fact that the CookieUserFolder is sitting in a Subfolder and i have a stock-UserFolder in the root. This site worked fine on a 2.4.3 server for some time, and i do some upgrading work, that's why i have these CUF sitting around. I tried migrating to CookieCrumbler, but when i delete my CookieUserFolder it leaves some footprint in the objects, that breaks the object when CookieCrumbler ist deleted from the system. Anybody seen this before? anybody fixed the deletion problem with CookieUserFolder? I use Zope 2.6.1, python 2.1.3. CookieUserFolder 1.6, linux2 Regards Gidon

Re: File Upload problems
by Mark Evans 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Actually, Maik had it right, it just took me awhile to get it to work. The key was that the FileUpload object can be treated as a file object. I was then able to do this: def main (image): dCon = dco.connect("foo/foo@myfoo") dCur = dCon.cursor() dCur.execute("insert into blobtest values ('2', EMPTY_BLOB())") dCur.execute("select * from blobtest where id='2' for update") r = dCur.fetchone() lob = r[1] lob.write(image.read()) dCon.commit() return str(image.filename) +" was loaded" This did what I wanted it to do. What I was missing was the lob.write(image.read()) syntax. That took me awhile. Thanks to Maik and Dieter for their help. Why is this and how do I > access either the file or the URL pointing to the file? This error message does not seem to fit to your description. Instead, it looks as if the uploaded image were returned as result of the web request. This should never happen (Web request results should be elementary data types). When ZPublisher is confronted with an (non-elementary) object as response to a request it raises an error. Dieter

Creating a LocalContent object from a Python script
by Igor Leturia 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Hi! I need to create a LocalContent object from within a Python script, and I don't know how to do it. I think the function to be called is manage_addLocalContent, and I try it as if I were adding a file (context.manage_addLocalContent(id, title, languages)) but it says the function does not exist. Any ideas? Igor Leturia

ZServer stops responding

Hi, I have a Apache 2.0 and a ZServer w/ VHM behind it. The Apache uses RewriteRules to serve the ZServer content. The problem is every so often, the zope server stops responding with a *Proxy Error * The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request /GET / </>/. Reason: *Error reading from remote server* Apache/2.0.43 Server at nbs.neuro-bs.com Port 80/ / and my zope debug log has: 2003-03-10T19:09:03 INFO(0) Z2 Caught signal SIGTERM ------ 2003-03-10T19:09:03 INFO(0) Z2 Closing all open ZODB databases ------ 2003-03-10T19:09:03 INFO(0) Z2 Shutting down ------ 2003-03-10T19:09:03 INFO(0) zdaemon Started subprocess: pid 3382 ------ 2003-03-10T19:09:05 INFO(0) ZODB Opening database for mounting: '139321088_1042459884.937236' ------ 2003-03-10T19:09:05 INFO(0) ZODB Mounted database '139321088_1042459884.937236' at /temp_folder ------ 2003-03-10T19:09:05 INFO(0) ZServer HTTP server started at Mon Mar 10 19:09:05 2003 Hostname: balder.neuro-bs.com Port: 8080 ------ 2003-03-10T19:50:19 INFO(0) ZODB conflict error at /VirtualHostBase/https/nbs.neuro-bs.com:443/nbs_online/VirtualHostRoot/secure/ssl_logo (1 conflicts since startup at 2003-03-10T19:09:05) The zope access log has the following: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 192.168.10.172 - Anonymous [11/Mar/2003:07:42:54 -0700] "GET /VirtualHostBase/http/nbs.neuro-bs.com:80/nbs_online/VirtualHostRoot/ HTTP/1.1" 200 10740 "" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; zope benchmarks now available
by J Cameron Cooper 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

A little while back I promised to run some benchmarks. Took a little while longer than I thought, and there is a lot to be desired, but I have published the preliminary results. My results (unfortunately) don't agree with the qualitative results of http://www.zope.org/Members/BwanaZulia/zope_benchmarks/benchmarks.html I imagine the more thorough tests I have planned will reveal more. Anyway, if you like numbers (and who doesn't?) you can find my results at http://zopeedge.com/benchmarks It's a little earlier than I had planned to make the site publicly known, so be well warned that the only thing there that really works is the benchmark area. --jcc

Understand ZODB Query?
by Heri 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Hi, I'm starting to develop a zope products and I'm still confused on how to use ZODB. My current application development is using RDBMS concept such as following samples: employee table: Row First Name Last Name Age === ========== ========= === 1 Bob McBob 42 2 John Johnson 24 3 Steve Smith 38 - I can easily perform SQL statement to lookup for some information such as, total employee, who are above 30 years old, and who has the Lastname of 'Smith'. - I can easily retrieve information from multiple tables and combine it as data objects. But how can I do this in ZODB? I was looking at http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZDG/current/index_html but it just tell me briefly how to store objects and simple retrieval. I need to do complex queries or perform some transaction. Can anyone help me the way to query data in ZODB? thanks, Heri
