OK- I'll guess your DSN isn't formatted right. Remember that the DSN string gets passed to the server as-is and is processed there. Depending on what sort of database you are connecting to I have seen DSN's that look like this: DSN=foo;USR=bar;PWD=baz or foo/bar/baz or foo;bar;baz etc. What database are you using? -----Original Message----- From: Calvo, Luis [mailto:Luis.Calvo@epson-electronics.de] Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 7:24 AM To: 'Maik Jablonski'; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Re: How to connect ZODBC with login instead of user I have a DB in a Unix server and my Zope server in a W2000. How to connect ZODBC with login instead of user
by Calvo, Luis 11 Mar '03

Hello all, I'm new in the list. I am trying to connect Zope with an ODBC connection with my W2000. The windows Connection works, but not in Zope. We don't use users to connect, only logins. Is that the problem? How can I solve it? Thanks. Luis.

Hi all, need your advise. my application requires a few custom roles, one of which tends to have all the default Zope permissions, except for View managemen Screens. Is there any way to do it, other than creating a long list as a parameter passed to manage_role api call? thanks for your help

Re: [Zope] Whether Zope can do the job

Hi Lennart, Thanks for your response. It is a graphic-mode application Also I can use "kooka" to do scan and OCR, also a graphic-mode application. What I need is a desktop/platform for keeping all scanned images for me to do some simple editing/graphic retouching work. Of course I can use GIMP but it is not for such a purpose. Also I can use "convert", a single line command, from ImageMagicks to convert all scanned images to PDF format as a book. All of them are not an open-box solution. Maybe I create some script with "python" to glue all mentioned applications. But I am now searching whether there is a more simple and straight-forward solution. > Most likely, if you have a software that works the way you like, the > cheapest way will be to buy that software. But yes, you CAN do what you > describe with Zope + some third-party software. I have been running PaperPort/PageKeeper/OmniPage/Pagis for years. They work fine on Windows. But I am searching for a similar application from OpenSource to run on Linux B.Regards Stephen

How to prevent access to Ananymous User?
by K.Praveen Kumar 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Hi, I'ld like to build a web site with Authentication. I'm using "ex User Folder" to create authentication. I'm using MySQL and Cookie based authentication. When I access the page It still logging in as "Anonymous User",(I think it should redirect to the login page). If I go to the login page manually and logging in with username and password it's working fine. Please suggest me how to prevent "Anonymous User" from viewing the pages. I'll be really looking forward for your reply. Thanks & Regards Praveen __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! External Editor
by Michael Long 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

I have installed the External Editor client on windows XP Pro and configured it to use gvim. First let me say that this is a great product. I am having a problem whenever I close a file after editing it. I get an error message saying that "External editor lost connection to editor process." The only thing I have been able to find is this is from the External editor site: *If the editor launches, but the helper app complains that it lost its connection to the editor process, this is because your editor detached from the parent process (the helper app). Configure the editor such that it does not do this. Unfortunately, many MDI applications do this and cannot be configured otherwise. Look for a solution to this in a later version of external editor. Does anyone have any hints on how to "configure the editor"? Thanks, Mike

Whether Zope can do the job
by Stephen Liu 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Hi all folks, I join this list recently and have no idea whether this is right place for posting following question: I am searching open source for an alternative similar to PaperPort, Pagis Pro, OmniPage or PageKeeper, applications running on Windows. They provide a platform to keep all scanned images which can then be stacked page after page, removing or re-inserting the pages stacked if required. Finally printing them as a pdf file or other format. One more important job is data searching on the scanned images. On PaperPort you can create a database bank on all scanned images and do data searching. Kindly advise whether "zope" can do the same job? Thanks in advance. B.Regards Stephen Liu

Hi, I grooved up my index_html in the root of zope. Are there any chances to correct this? I can't connect to the manage interface or to any plone sites any more. Can I edit index_html on some way direct on the linux command line? Thanks for feedback. Best regards, Stefan
