secure ftp

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello All... Is Zope configured (or can it be) to run with secure ftp? I haven't seen any docs that deal with that. Re: [Zope] Re: Spinning Zope on MP3 file import
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 11 Mar '03

Just tested, and the same 4.6 mb mp3 file uploads via FTP to a remote file system at ~253kbps in 3.01 minutes via my low-end DSL. The zope file object upload has been spinning for over an hour now. I know I can link to this from the file system-- i'm just trying to understand what seems an odd behavior, which I've seen occasionally before with large file objects going into Zope, -- I'm not really looking for a workaround. RE: [Zope] Whether Zope can do the job
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 11 Mar '03

Consider using the CMF, perhaps Plone. http://plone.org Zope could be a good document management system, in this case, with the assistance of automation-capible OCR (like OmniPage automated via COM interface). You would bave to be able to extract text-metadata out of a document, so obviously you need a content-type in Zope or the CMF that is capable of taking an image and/or PDF file containing raster data, storing it, and being able to pass it to an external filter for the acquiring of text metadata. You would just need to write a Zope python product that, for example, with the CMF, defined a method called SearchableText() for your 'document'/image that served up (potentially cached) text extracted from an OCR system. You would have to, of course, write an application that fed Zope the scanned images in order, or at least uploaded them and set metadata. There are many possible ways to do this (ZEO, XML-RPC, etc). Combining the pages could be done with commercial PDF libraries, including PageCatcher, which is a commercial, Python-based PDF aggregation library/utility. http://www.reportlab.com/pageCatcher/index.html There are likely open-source solutions to this as well (in the xpdf package?), perhaps. So, yes, Zope could do this job, but you would have to write the code (feed scans into Zope, CMF content type) needed and pick decorating software components (OCR, PDF aggreagation) necessary to do it. They provide a platform to keep all scanned images which can then be stacked page after page, removing or re-inserting the pages stacked if required. Finally printing them as a pdf file or other format. One more important job is data searching on the scanned images. On PaperPort you can create a database bank on all scanned images and do data searching. Kindly advise whether "zope" can do the same job? Thanks in advance. Get Access to Object from its record in the ZCatalog
by Edward Pollard 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

I'm pulling my hair out here. I'm sure the answer is simple. How can I get to properties of an object from its ZCatalog entry? I'm iterating through results, and want to do something special if the result is a record for a PDF file. I know how to check the file to see if its a PDF, but ZCatalog does not keep track of all the file contents. I know there is a way to resolve the record ID into the actual object, but I forget how and cannot find a reference to it. Thanks, Edward ---- For clarity, here is some of my code. I am looking for what to use instead of ?? zIndex_Catalog is my Catalog. zIndexFileItem is my CatalogAware wrapper ZClass for File. searchresults = list(context.zIndex_Catalog.searchResults(blah blah search params blah blah)) searchresults.sort( lambda x, y: cmp(x.title, y.title)) for result in searchresults: if ((??.meta_type == 'File') or (??.meta_type == 'zIndexFileItem')): if (??.getContentType == "application/pdf"): PDF Specific Code Here

It is a progress DB. But if my ODBC conexion works with access and VBasic it must be ok, isn't it? What should I put in ZOpe in the connection string? -----Original Message----- From: jwsacksteder(a)ramprecision.com [mailto:jwsacksteder@ramprecision.com] Sent: 11 March 2003 05:12 To: Calvo, Luis; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Re: How to connect ZODBC with login instead of user OK- I'll guess your DSN isn't formatted right. Remember that the DSN string gets passed to the server as-is and is processed there. Zope running only when started with -D from command line
by Tobias Herp 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Hi, I have a Win2K (test-) server running two instances of Zope, using different installations and the ports 8080 and 6080. Both were installed to run as Windows services. However, the 6080 version (Zope 2.6.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32) refuses to run unless called from command line (it has worked once upon a time, I think, but I can't tell what changed to disturb this). When the service is started, the pid file is in use, but no content is served. To Windows it looks like everything would be ok (the icons for stopping and restarting the service are active). When I stop the service and start Zope from command line, everything is ok. I even tried to set Z_DEBUG_MODE for the the system to 'yes', but restarting the service still didn't work (well, the system didn't reboot since then... anyway the environment variables seem to be user specific, so they won't work without a logon). There are no error messages whatsoever visible during Zope start. Where can I seek for the problem? Any ideas? tia, Tobias http://www.apriori.de

Authentication using ex User Folder problems
by K.Praveen Kumar 11 Mar '03

11 Mar '03

Hi, I'm new to Zope. I built a web site using Zope. Now I'ld like to use authentication to access those pages. I used ex User Folder to create authentication module. I did in this way: I selected "MySQL Authentication Source" for Authentication Sorce, "MySQL Properties Source" for Property Source and "Null Membership Source" for Membership Source. I've created MySQL databases called passwd and userinfo. Here I did not getting any problems. I only getting problem when I visited the home page of the created web site. It is not asking for the authentication instead It is logging in as "Anonymous User". If I use the Login page URL It is redirecting to the Home page after succesful authentication. It has to redirect to the Login page if the user is already logged in. How can I do that? Please suggest me. Thanks in advance.
