I don't use the Issue Tracker product, so I really couldn't say for sure. What I can tell you is that your URL should work if those three parameters are handled by REQUEST variables in the QuickAddIssue method. What you said, though, is that QuickAddIssue has three "fields" which leads me to wonder if QuickAddIssue is the data entry form. You'll want to provide these arguments to the method that *handles* the form to get the desired outcome. Depending on how the method is implemented, you may need to use POST instead of GET. But, as I said, I don't use this product so I couldn't say for sure if you're using the right method or not. If QuickAddIssue isn't the correct target, its source should tell you what the correct target is. Anyone with more specific knowledge of Issue Tracker care to jump in here? Dylan

newbie: stupid Access zsql problem

Hi, Going out of my brain here. I want to create a method in Zope that goes off and replicates a current Access query, and am falling over at the same hurdle every time. The WHERE line of the current Access query reads: WHERE ((([Daily Orders].Date) Between [Enter the beginning date] And [Enter the end date])) If I replace [Enter the beginning date] and [Enter the end date] with #mm/dd/yyyy# and #mm/dd/yyyy# then I get the expected output when testing my database connection in Zope. So now I have the form that collects those dates in the correct order from the user; <form method=POST action="query"> Enter the start date: <input type=text name=startdate size=10 maxlength=10> <p> Enter the end date: <input type=text name=enddate size=10 maxlength=10> <p> <i>Ensure dates are entered in mm/dd/yyyy format</i> <p> <input type=submit> </form> ... and I want to pass those values into the ZSQL Method, and this is the part I can't get my head round. I presume these values now exist in the REQUEST? So do I put instructions into the ZSQL method in place of the [Enter the start date] and [Enter the end date] fields to fetch the info from REQUEST? If so, then I must be reading this manual wrong because I can't get it to happen ;-) If anyone can guide me in what I should go learn to tie the form to the query I'd be eternally grateful, and promise not to offer to do favours for people again until I study a bit harder. andy

Hello I am a new Zope user and iam currently working on a project, to design a golf magazine on the pga tour through zope. At present iam struggling to come to terms with what exactly i need to do to get this up and running. I have researched quiet a bit but still not sure what i have to do. If anyone could help me regaurding this it would be much appreciated. I would be willing to pay if the help i got warranted payment. If anyone could give me code for sample Log-ons or an example of a working page template in zope it would be much appreciated. I have read the page template chapter in the zope book but was to basic of an example. If this cant be done maybe someone could point me in the right direction Looking forward to hearing from yu. Releasing connection into Zope's ZODB

Hi all, Worker threads in one of my programs get a hook into the ZODB as follows: zopeRootOb = ZODB.ZApplication.ZApplicationWrapper(DB, 'Application', OFS.Application.Application, (), Globals.VersionNameName)() ( I think the following does the same, but haven't tried it: zopeRootOb = Zope.app() ) I get a problem where the above call will block indefinately. After poking around I found that the blocking happens when len(DB._pools[1][0][1]) goes to zero. Obviously I have used up all the connections into the ZODB causing the lockup. Is there a way to ensure the "release" of my connection once I am finished, or will this happen automatically when zopeRootOb's reference count goes to zero (i.e. the function goes out of scope and it gets auto dereferenced)? I am thinking of waiting for len(DB._pools[1][0][1]) to go higher than zero before trying to get a connection, but somehow this feels like hacking. Is there an elegant way to wait for a connection to become available? Thanks Etienne

Setting the password of an unauthenticated user

Hello. I am trying to assign a new password to a Zope user who has not authenticated(this would be the case if a user forgot his/her password and the administrator would have to email them a new one). Is there any way to do this? There is a function in User.py called _getpassword but it is not implemented. Also, there are other functions in this module that would do the good as well but they aren't implemented also. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Asad

Standard HTML Comments

Does anyone know why standard HTML comments are rendered in the output by a DTML method when it is executed? I know that using the DTML comment tag is a way around this problem, but for the sake of consistency I would like to continue to use HTML standard comments in DTML methods if possible. Is there something I can do to make the method ignore them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -Asad

How to skip validation when uploading

I would like to upload some regular html files using ftp port 8021. However if the files are not valid html it simply won't upload them, and it put an error message in the log (not containing the line number of the error). If I make a new document in zope (plone), and copy and paste the same code in it, zope is much more liberal about the code. Is it possible to remove the check when uploading ?

I think the original poster is interested in  acting just like <dtml-comment>XXX</dtml-comment> for purposes of being more brief and doing less typing. I don't think there is any way to do this, unfortunately. Thanks. > > -Asad When I used to use DTML, I used to do stuff like this all of the time:  <dtml-var custom_header>  That when when I had problems with the rendered output I would have a better idea which DTML method was wrecking my day. Is this what you mean? A quick test shows that you can do stuff like:  Stuff like this is pretty easy to test. Just create a DTML method and start sticking in comments. It may also call method in the context of object, but you'll learn about that as you read the book. :-) Parameters are passed in by using standard POST or GET techniques. This is the very easiest way to interface with Zope. Once you understand how Zope works in general and how the product you're using works in particular, it shouldn't be too difficult to script an HTTP interaction that creates the behavior you're looking for. Limits of External Methods

If I define a class in an external method, how can I expose it so that my Zope python scripts can access it? The only solution I've found is something like this: class Foo(): def method1(self, parms) ... def method2(self, parms) ... def newFoo() return Foo() def fooMethod1(oFoo, parms) return oFoo.method1(parms) ... and so forth. I then need to add separate External Methods for newFoo(), fooMethod1(), etc. Is there any way once I have a reference to an instance of Foo, that I can call its methods directly?
