KinterbasdbDA and Stored Procedures Question.
by Derek Basch 02 Feb '03

02 Feb '03

Hello, Has anyone ever successfully used the KinterbasdbDA to pass a stored procedure to an Interbase/Firebird SQL server? I picked up a project that I hadn't touched in a few months and discovered that the Firebird database adaptor I had been using seems to have fallen on the way side. (ZFirebirdDA): http://www.zope.org/Members/philh/ZFireBirdDA_news So, I found KinterbasdbDA which seems to work fine except for this error when I try a simple stored procedure: Error, kinterbasdb.ProgrammingError: (-104, 'execute.isc_dsql_prepare: Dynamic SQL Error. SQL error code = -104. Token unknown - line 1, char 19. execute. ') Herecallingquery callin the SP: EXECUTE PROCEDURE SP_CDR_DELETE ('12/12/2002','12/13/2002'); Anyone see what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Derek Basch __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

I'm trying to get Python to return the location of the file from within a page using Python script. Can't seem to be able to do it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Where can I find reference material to the "internals", so to speak, e.g., for commands such as container.objectValues(), or context.____, etc.? Thanks in advance. Samir

problem: traversable but no aq_chain
by Sean K 02 Feb '03

Hi all I have a container product that stores aother product(TextDescriptions). The second product acts as descriptions of texts that are available for purchase (in paper form). These descriptions also contain another product that acts as reviews on the texts. All products inherit Item, Persistent and Acquisition.Implicit. The main product stores the descriptions in a dictionary of id:instance pairs, the descriptions do the same with the reviews. All products have an id as an attribute. The main product contains a __getitem__ method, as does the descriptions product. I can traverse to a description however a call to a mthod of the description product that returns the aq_chain displays as [,,,]. returning the descriptions dictionary returns a dictionary like {'text1':} the _p_changed variable is set to 1 after the dictionary is updated. Where is my acquisition? Why are the instances not showing up in the descriptions dictionary? Some code: class Texts(SimpleItem.Item, Persistent, Implicit): "A class that holds text descriptions" meta_type = "Texts" manage_options = ({'label':'View','action':'index_html'},) def __init__(self,id,title): self.id=id self.title = title self.descritpions={} def manage_addTextDesc(self,id, title, authors, language, size, price, description,REQUEST=None): "Add a new text description to the Texts instance" desc = TextDesc.TextDesc(id, title, authors, language, size, price, description) self.products[id] = desc self._p_changed = 1 return self.index_html(REQUEST) class TextDesc(SimpleItem.Item,Persistent,Implicit): """A class to hold Text descriptions""" meta_type = "TextDesc" def __init__(self, id, title= '', authors='', language='', size=0,price=0, description=''): """"Set initial values""" self.id = id self.title = title self.authors = string.split(authors, ",") self.language = language self.size = size self.price = price self.description = description self.nreviews = 0 self.reviews = {} Thanks in advance Sean Kemplay __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I have the following bit of TALES code in one of my pages. It doesn't occur just once, it occurs multiple times, with the parameters at AAAAAA, BBBBBBB, CCCCCCC, and DDDDDDD changing between each occurrence: <tr tal:define="field form/AAAAAA; value request/form/field_BBBBBB|person/CCCCCCCCC|nothing"> <td class="label" tal:content="field/title">Label</td> <td class="field"> <input type="text" tal:replace="structure python:field.render(value)" /> <span class="formerror" tal:on-error="string:" tal:condition="showerrors" tal:content="structure python:formErrors['DDDDDD']"> Error </span> </td> </tr> Because everything else is the same, I'd like to factor the code out. I was thinking about macros, but using macros within tal statements or tags produces compilation errors. How else can I factor the above out and parametrise it? Thanks, -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" net@madduck NOTE: The pgp.net keyservers and their mirrors are broken! Still can't get PIL working properly
by Ed Leafe 02 Feb '03

02 Feb '03

Hi, I've followed the document at http://www.zope.org/Members/regebro/PIL_zope and gotten a lot of help from this list, and have made progress, but still cannot get it to work in Zope. At the end of the doc mentioned above, after all the compiling is done, it says to: cp -r PIL *.so /the/zope/installation/lib/python/ to complete the installation. I did that, and still get the message that "The _imaging C module is not installed". I then did some Googling to see if something could shed light on this, and I found a (non-zope) site that recommended installing PIL in the [python]/site-packages directory, and to use "python -v" to help discover what was being loaded from where. So I tried that with the python 2.2 that RedHat installed, and ran "python -v" to start. The startup text included the version information "Python 2.2.1 (#1, Aug 30 2002, 12:15:30)". I then type the following, and got the following respose. >>> import PIL.Image import PIL # directory /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL # /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/__init__.pyc matches /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/__init__.py import PIL # precompiled from /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/__init__.pyc # /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/Image.pyc matches /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/Image.py import PIL.Image # precompiled from /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/Image.pyc dlopen("/usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/_imaging.so", 2); import PIL._imaging # dynamically loaded from /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/_imaging.so # /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/ImagePalette.pyc matches /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/PIL/ImagePalette.py [remainder snipped] It's clear that the _imaging.so module is being referenced and loaded. Now if I do the same thing, but this time running [zopedir]/bin/python -v, it shows the version as "Python 2.1.3 (#1, Sep 19 2002, 13:15:46)". This time, trying to import PIL.Image results in: >>> import PIL.Image Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? ImportError: No module named PIL.Image So I follow the lead of the regular python installation, and copy the PIL files to [zopedir]/lib/python2.1/site-packages. This time, I get a better response, but there is no reference to the _imaging.so module. >>> import PIL.Image import PIL # directory /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL # /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/__init__.pyc matches /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/__init__.py import PIL # precompiled from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/__init__.pyc # /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/Image.pyc matches /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/Image.py import PIL.Image # precompiled from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/Image.pyc # /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/lib-tk/FixTk.pyc matches /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/lib-tk/FixTk.py import FixTk # precompiled from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/lib-tk/FixTk.pyc # /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/ImagePalette.pyc matches /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/ImagePalette.py import PIL.ImagePalette # precompiled from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/site-packages/PIL/ImagePalette.pyc import array # dynamically loaded from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/lib-dynload/array.so # /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/string.pyc matches /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/string.py import string # precompiled from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/string.pyc import strop # dynamically loaded from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/lib-dynload/strop.so # /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/types.pyc matches /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/types.py import types # precompiled from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/types.pyc import operator # dynamically loaded from /usr/local/zope/2-6-0/lib/python2.1/lib-dynload/operator.so I've tried playing around with moving the files all over the place, to all different directories, and either I get the "not found" error, or I get something like the response above. Can anyone shed some light onto what I'm doing wrong? ___/ / __/ / ____/ Ed Leafe http://leafe.com/ http://opentech.leafe.com

File Uploads et al
by Samir Mishra 02 Feb '03

02 Feb '03

Morning all, I've only just installed Zope, so trying to find my way around. I'm evaluating Zope and thus far I'm impressed. But, as is usually the case, I have a couple of question. We have a requirement to allow users to upload a large number of files on a regular basis. These files are created by an application we wrote a long time ago. And the file names and the number of files vary. 1) When a user uploads a file, where are the file contents stored in Zope? I'm assuming the ZODB database. 2) How can I provide the user the option of storing uploaded files to a directory on the server (directory defined by manager, may be user specific, or common to all or group), with a link to (or object representing) the file in the user's folder? 3) What are the security implications of the above scenario? 4) Or, as in (2), alternate storage is chosen automatically - if the file is larger x kb, it's stored in an alternate location/storage. Which Python script in Zope handles uploads? 5) Ideally, I'd like to be able to store the file in a database that's capable of handling BLOBs, such as Berkeley. Any suggestions? 6) Sometimes, we need to upload the contents of a directory, and not just an individual file. The exact contents of the directory can vary. Any easy way of doing this? Again, any & all suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks. Regards, Samir Mishra

RE: [Zope] Plone & ActivePython 2.2 on Win32
by Samir Mishra 02 Feb '03

02 Feb '03

Reminds me of things I forgot to mention in my first email. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Plone/Zope once already. Uninstalling/reinstalling ActivePython is not feasible, because the number of modules installed is LARGE. So worst case scenario - I move Data.fs, uninstall Plone/Zope, install plain vanilla Zope. Or keep running the Plone/Zope service from the commandline... Any way I could get a verbose Python-esque listing of what happens when the service is started? Thanks. Samir. -----Original Message----- From: robert rottermann [mailto:robert@redcor.ch] Sent: Sunday, February 02, 2003 12:22 To: Samir Mishra; 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Plone & ActivePython 2.2 on Win32 I have not yet installed the plone tutorial so I migth be wrong. However ActivePython writes all information it needs to run into the registry. Either plone at installation time or windows at runtime reads this settings. You could try to uninstall Active python and the reinstalling plone a second time. If there is somethin you want to have preserve from the first installation: Just copy the file var\Data.fs to a save place befor the reinstallation. Zope keps all objects there and you can replace it with a backup. It will probably not be touched by the reinstallation. Robert Am Sonntag, 2. I just did the install on one of may machines last night. In the imaging library directory ... ./configure make cd .. $ZOPEHOME/bin/python setup.py build $ZOPEHOME/bin/python setup.py install should do the trick. You *must* use the python used for Zope so everything gets installed in the right place.
