pythonservice

I've got something odd being reported by my firewall software and I'm trying to understand what is going on. I'm running Zope 2.6 on XP Pro, the firewall software is the free version of Agnitum OutPost. Sometimes the firewall reports connections being made by pythonservice and shows ports as opened by pythonservice. I recognise the stuff that's being reported, but it's things from another application. Is it likely that the firewall is going wrong and just attributing the connections and ports to the wrong piece of software, or does pythonservice act as some sort of proxy or anything else that could explain this behaviour? -- Neil ********************************************************************** The information contained in this e-mail is confidential and intended only for the use of the addressee. | Odesílatel: Blurg <blurg(a)gluipzak.nl> | How can I keep variables around between page templates? I have a site on | which I need to make a language choice (this choice is made on the | index_html), then I need to set a var with language='english' for example. | When clicked on this English flag, I arrive at a menu, which need to set | another var (the type of product) when I choose on of the products on a | list. Then I will get a product list, but this new document needs to know | about the chosen language and the type of product I chose. | How am I supposed to handle these 'messages' between page templates? I know, it is non-zope solution. I was developed that method before my join with Zope. Hidden frame, formfield in it and javascript from actual page looks for values in hidden frame form and do sone action. You could put anticookie message like "We respect your privacy: Our site does not use any cookies." Regards JL.

re: [Zope] dtml-try... again?
by Ken 25 Nov '02

If no one minds, I'll repeat my question more clearly: I am getting Key Errors, possible having to do with some remote HTTP calls. I don't know how to provoke the problem, it 'just happens' (revised estimate) 5-10% of the time. The Key Error never happens twice, so requesting the page a second time always works. I was tempted to use something like this: <dtml-try> <dtml-var "error_prone_method.view()"> <dtml-except KeyError> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(URL)"> </dtml-try> But I think there is something evil about this which could bring the world as I know it to untimely end... Now I'm thinking 'Custom Error' as described in zdp.zope.org/projects/zsnippet/snippets/ DTMLContent/CustomError 1.) Can this be used for a KeyError? 2.) How can I test this by provoking a KeyError? Thanks to all! Ken

subpath in dtml?
by jonatan 24 Nov '02

hi! i have a very simple problem: i have a dtml method called reg which should finalize a registration ... so i would like to have such urls: http://some.site.com/reg/b6ac3fe9 if reg is a dtml method, then entering this url gives me a not found error ... ok cool . lets do a python script, and traverse_subpath. subpath doesnt exist (but its binded!!) so lets use traverse_subpath ... but now i am in a python script, i dont want to output html from here, i just want to check a row in the database! (outputting html gives me nice < stuff - this is great too!) i searched for traverse_subpath, and didnt find something of use. just a traversable dtml document product. ARGH! please! i dont want to install products or make some magic with python scripts interacting with dtml! i started using zope because of its simplicity, i dont know why isnt there a simple way of doing this?? or perhaps there is but i cannot find it? i am very desperated :) all i need is a <dtml-if> checking against the part after 'reg' .. (b6ac3fe9 here) ... i dont want python scripts for a single if ... why do you zope developers think that traverse_subpath should be used in a pythn script only? how can i achieve the same in dtml? why isnt http://something/reg/foo/bar working as dtml, but is working as a python script? zope is cool, i love smoking too, but sometimes it can be so hairy ... damn .. :) thanks, -jonatan.

Tino, I probably like the acquisition method the most, but I can't find anything about setting up pseudo folders. Can you give a short example? Then, I still need to send the language to the database to get the the query right (the right language). Localizer
by danielle.d-avout 24 Nov '02

Hi, How can I remove a message from the message_catalog? ${top}top doesn't even exist anymore when I try to export my catalog I've got a Keyerror the message error and the value error are ${top}top and are a link http://127.0.0.1:8080/"javascript:window.scrollTo(0,0)/" !!! I've notice too that half of the times, I can't access to the catalog for a pack error size reason there are quite a lot of literature on the net about this last error meanwhile I read that the use of the version of Localizer 0.92 with Zope 2.6 prevented these problems I must admit that I once play with poedit .. I could read that I'm not alone... Hi, >I have encountered a problem with .mo files created with poEdit. It seams that poEdit creates .mo files containing null characters. I'm not sure if this is disallowed or if it's a bug in poEdit. After examining the gettext.py in Python, it opens .mo files binary, so this should be considered a bug in Localizer. Should I send the patch or can I get developer access Localizer and I'll commit it my self? (My sourceforge id is: johanc) DIFF: It's in row 58 of LocalFiles.py - f = open(filename) + f = open(filename, 'rb') I couldn't find any other files opening .mo files, but I might have missed it. Regards, >Johan Carlsson It's pity that the LocalFiles.py is still not corrected, if it has to be ... I can try out on my local server, but what will happen when I migrate? (and would it save my translations?) danielle

Win32 ZServerSSL problem
by Stuart Nicholson 24 Nov '02

24 Nov '02

I'm running ZServerSSL on an NT 4 box and it appears to be set up fine. I can connect via SSL to my content etc. However after some period of inactivity the 443 port simply seems to close while the rest of the server continues to run normally (i.e. I can no longer form SSL connections, but normal HTTP continues to work). There are no other unusual symptoms that I can spot: no task thrashing, no exceptions, nothing 'looks' wrong yet port 443 is closed. This is with Zope 2.4.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.0, win32. Restarting the Zope server brings port 443 back up and it all works again (until the next mysterious port close). Question: Has anybody encountered a similar problem? Any suggestions for a solution? This is driving me nuts... Cookie Crumbler problem..
by Dennis Allison 24 Nov '02

24 Nov '02

I have a problem with cookie crumbler authentication. This particular site is organized as follows root: [default security] login_form, logged_in, loggged_out acl_users (for wizard users CoookieCrumbler (no forms, default to standard) index_html hyperlinks to folder2/index_html folder1: [default security] ... folder2: [default security] login_form_html logged_in logout_html index2_html (framset which uses login_form_html) acl_users (for real users) CookieCrumbler folder3: [default security except no view acqusiton for anonymous users, view access explicitly enabled for >= authenticated users] index_html (content folders, docs, methods, etc.) This organization works fine as long as users make no errors. However, when the user makes an error in the login in folder2 the default action is try to login using the root acl_users. In this case, this is the wrong action to take. How can it easily be diabled? There is a reason for the two level login... The site has three categories of users--those that see the "A" branch, those that see the "B" branch, and those that see both. A role based approach might have been a better way to structure things, but the physical separation and separate logins seemed better when the choice had to be made. Now everything is live and changes are difficult.
