Within Zope equivalent of open() function.

Hi all, I want to provide a web based interface to editing stylesheets. I want these stylesheets to be contained within Zope. Is there something like Python's open() function that I can use? Thanks, Alec Munro

advice needed
by gabecker＠indiana.edu 08 Nov '02

I am relatively new to Zope, but I plan to use it for an image database system that I need to make for scientific purposes. What I have in mind is to store the actual images externally in files (since there will be many and large files), and the info about the image (where collected, owner, codes etc etc) in a database like MySQL. Zope would form the interface. My first question is what would be a suitable way to go from here: use LocalFS or ExtImage for storage of many files (think of 50,000 or so)? I will need to be able to differentiate between users: ie not every user should have access to all files. Furthermore: if there are people that have already done something similar I would appreciate to learn from their experience. Through a web search I haven't been able to find such projects, at least not based on Zope. All best, Gabriel

LocalFS updating files via DTML?
by Michael Fox 08 Nov '02

08 Nov '02

Hi *, I have several comma delimetered text files on the local file system, which I can render via Zope using the LocalFS product. Question - Is it at all possible to update these files via some DTML calls? eg. Once a user submits a form, I call some ZSQL Methods and this data is used to update the text files - without them accessing the ZMI? Regards, Michael Fox

Zope Video Server
by lozinski＠jobmart.com 08 Nov '02

We are using zope to control a linux server with movable cameras attached. We can control the cameras to pan and tilt and zoom. We have a java client which displays a map. Click on the map, and the Camera points at that spot. Or click on the image to move the camera in the desired direction. Is anyone else doing this kind of stuff. Is there any software out there I can buy or get for free? Is anyone interested in such software? I think Video is a hot market, but I would love to know more about this market. Re: passing lists as function parameters
by Josef Meile 08 Nov '02

> Or if I test the script with the following value for the parameter - > [1,2,3,4,5] - I get: I guess, you're using the "test" tab from the manage interface. The problem is that no matter what you introduce there, it's always being taken as a string. There is no way at that point to tell Zope that you're passing a list. To really test your script you have to create a dtml-method and call the script: <dtml-var "foo([1,2,3,4,5])"> Regards, Josef.

restrictedTravers-Problem (oder was auch immer)
by Tobias Herp 08 Nov '02

08 Nov '02

Hi, ich habe ein Problem, was mich gerade in den Wahnsinn treibt... Es geht um einen dtml-let-Block, in dem ich unter Verwendung des and-or-Tricks von Python eine Kaskade von Variablen definiere. So sieht's aus (Leerzeilen eingefügt wg. etwaiger Umbrüche): <dtml-let reference="REQUEST.get('reference','')" r_split="reference and reference.split('/') or []" page_path="REQUEST.get('page_path') or REQUEST.get('obj','')" refl="(r_split > ['',''])" imgid="refl and r_split[-1] or ''" galid="refl and r_split[-2] or ''" galSeed="page_path and restrictedTraverse(page_path) or None" galleries="galSeed and galSeed.getGalleries() or page_object ().getGalleries() or []" galleries="page_path and getGalleries()" the_gallery="galid and restrictedTraverse(galid,'') or None" the_gallery="the_gallery or (_.len(galleries)==1 and galleries[0])" galid="galid or (the_gallery and the_gallery.getId()) or ''" the_images="the_gallery and the_gallery.objectValues ('LMSGalleryImage')" > <dtml-if "1"> query string: <dtml-var "REQUEST.environ.get('QUERY_STRING', '').split('&')"> galid=<dtml-var galid> imgid=<dtml-var imgid> reference=<dtml-var reference> page_path=<dtml-var page_path> galSeed: <dtml-var "`galSeed`"> galleries: <dtml-var galleries> </dtml-if> Worauf es ankommt, ist die Variable galleries, die hinterher eine Liste von Galerien enthalten soll (spezielle ZClass), die wiederum natürlich Bilder enthalten. page_path wird korrekt übergeben und ist /der/Pfad/zum/Seitenobjekt (auch eine ZClass, die wiederum eine Methode getGalleries hat). Was stimmt da bloß nicht? Hat restrictedTraverse irgendwelche Tücken, die mir einen Streich spielen? Irgendwelche Ideen oder Anmerkungen? tia, Tobias -- Diese E-Mail enthält vertrauliche und/oder rechtlich geschützte Informationen.
