ZCatalog reindexing fails
by Lars H. Korte 06 Nov '02

Hi, I'm trying to reindex the SearchableText index in my portal_catalog. After clicking on reindex and waiting a short time an Attribute Error occurs saying "getUserById" the error log has the following traceback: --- Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 472, in manage_reindexIndex Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 457, in reindexIndex Module Products.CMFCore.CatalogTool, line 232, in catalog_object Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 500, in catalog_object Module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog, line 295, in catalogObject Module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog, line 403, in recordify Module Products.CMFDefault.DublinCore, line 104, in Creator Module AccessControl.Owned, line 87, in getOwner AttributeError: getUserById --- I'm using Zope 2.6.0 + CMF 1.3 + Plone1.0b2 and LDAP Authentication. There seems to be a problem with a username I think. How can I make Zope print (perhaps in a file) which name that is? Or could this error have another reason? I would appreciate any help!! regards Lars

RE: [Zope] Form Action question

Thanks Clemens, you're right this will help me with error trapping thanks. -----Original Message----- From: Clemens Robbenhaar [mailto:robbenhaar@espresto.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 05, 2002 6:24 PM To: McDonnell, Larry Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Form Action question Hi Larry, [snip description] ... if I understand Your question right, You use the Session to store a variable 'menu_type', which will determine the object the form submit is send to. Your problem is: > > I have tried different variation but I will get a keyerror or a global > error. Any pointers would be great. Hm, maybe post one variation (preferably reduced to a minimal version) and one error message -- this would help spotting the problem, I guess. You may alternatively set the action for the form to a Python script, which investigates the session data and then dispatches to the "right" DTML Method displaying the selected form. If you do so, You could do better checks in the script, if the session variable is set at all or do other logic. For example You could do: if not request.SESSION.has_key('menu_type'): # hm, something is wrong ... handle error, e.g. raise IndexError, 'session has no key "menu_type"' else: form_renderer = getattr(context, menu_type) return form_renderer() This may give You more freedom to add debugging hooks to find the problem Yourself. Cheers, Clemens

Re: [Zope] Upgrading from 2.5.1 to 2.6.0 Problems

Hi Sascha, thanks for your reply. It solved part of the problem. > look at the message from Gidon a couple of days ago. Maybe you have the same problem that we had: Old ZClasses > wouldn't move over or import into 2.6, because something has changed in the interfaces. Gidons solution was to > remove entries in the subobjects, then export and re-import the ZClasses. Afterwards recreate the entries for subobjects. It works for the three Zclasses that Zope didn't import before. I'm not having that long error message about the "pickled data" anymore, but I'm still having this one: ------ 2002-11-06T10:37:14 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't install OFSP Traceback (innermost last): Module OFS.Application, line 700, in install_product - __traceback_info__: OFSP Module ZODB.Transaction, line 222, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 195, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 256, in _commit_objects Module ZODB.Connection, line 389, in commit - __traceback_info__: (('intSet', 'intSet'), '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x08:', '') Module ZODB.FileStorage, line 705, in store ConflictError: database conflict error (oid 000000000000083a, serial was 0348a51f52d8776e, now 0000000000000000) ------ 2002-11-06T10:37:16 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't install ZCatalog Traceback (innermost last): Module OFS.Application, line 700, in install_product - __traceback_info__: ZCatalog Module ZODB.Transaction, line 222, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 195, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 256, in _commit_objects Module ZODB.Connection, line 389, in commit - __traceback_info__: (('intSet', 'intSet'), '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x0e\xb6', '') Module ZODB.FileStorage, line 705, in store ConflictError: database conflict error (oid 0000000000000eb6, serial was 0348a51f6ab4c9a2, now 0000000000000000) ------ What could be the problem? Re: [Zope] Uses of METAL?

Hi Tino, your METAL-TAL model sounds interisting. Can you explain it in more detail so that I can understand it, please (may be with a short example) ? May be I'll start with ZPT straight after ;-) Thanks a lot, Elena Tino wrote: Currently I'm using a construct like a main-template with define-macro parts, some common-for-some-pages templates which are assembled with macros from main-template and define themself as one whole macro, the actual client templates use this assembled template as master. This allows to archieve the main goal: dont duplicate parts of content/logic. Every part can be changed in only one place and changes will populate thru the whole site where this part is used. attribute error 'sendall' in sendmail tag
by Cornelis J. de Brabander 06 Nov '02

06 Nov '02

Hi all, I have turned to the list before about this problem, but without success. I thought I had created a workaround, but in the end it appears I cannot do without the sendmail tag. I have upgraded from zope version 2.4.3 to 2.5.1. on a production server. I can't go back so I am really stuck. The following code in a dtml method works on 2.4.3 but produces a attribute error with value "sendall' in 2.5.1 (traceback see below) <dtml-sendmail smtphost="fswrul.fsw.leidenuniv.nl"> To: brabander(a)fsw.leidenuniv.nl From: brabander(a)fsw.leidenuniv.nl Subject: 251 groeten van 251. </dtml-sendmail> I have tried all kind of suggestions I received before, like removing spaces between the headers, using the ip address in stead of names, using a mailhost object, using mailto and mailfrom in the tag, all to no avail Traceback (innermost last): File E:\zope\251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File E:\zope\251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File E:\zope\251\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: mailtest) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File E:\zope\251\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: test) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: test) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\OFS\DTMLMethod.py, line 127, in __call__ (Object: test) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: test) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\Products\MailHost\SendMailTag.py, line 116, in render (Object: fswrul.fsw.leidenuniv.nl) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\Products\MailHost\MailHost.py, line 156, in send (Object: ) File E:\zope\251\lib\python\Products\MailHost\MailHost.py, line 201, in _send (Object: ) File E:\zope\251/bin/lib\smtplib.py, line 466, in sendmail File E:\zope\251/bin/lib\smtplib.py, line 316, in ehlo File E:\zope\251/bin/lib\smtplib.py, line 247, in putcmd File E:\zope\251/bin/lib\smtplib.py, line 235, in send File <string>, line 1, in sendall AttributeError: (see above)

RE: [Zope] Apache-Squid-Zope, Squid-Apache-Zope.. or just Squid-Z ope?
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 06 Nov '02

I agree... I saw a message on this list a few days back where someone mentioned Apache in front of Squid, which totally left me scratching my head in confusion... Squid+ESI should be pretty powerful. Since ZPT will do XML namespaces, ESI should be supported without any issues, if you wanted to do this out of the box (of course, you still would need to patch and compile Squid with the ESI support). One other thing that Apache can't do (without mod_backhand, I think???) is truly load-balance, but Squid can with Zope 2.6+ (thanks to ICP support): Squid treats ZEO nodes as cache peers and removes them if they are down, and also directs traffic according to load (updated constantly as function of response times). Zope crashed when running RDFSummaryUpdate script
by Michael 06 Nov '02

06 Nov '02

I just experienced a strange problem. I'm running Zope 2.44, Python 2.13 and Apache 1.3.22. I was attempting to run my RDFSummaryUpdate script: <dtml-with RDF> <dtml-in "objectValues('RDF Summary')"> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-call "update()"> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> and it apparently hosed Zope. It appeared to be locked up as it was not responding to anything any longer. I tried stopping and re-starting Zope and it made no difference. I tried stopping and restarting Apache and I got this message: Syntax error on line 260 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf: FastCgiIpcDir /tmp: can't create dynamic directory "/tmp/dynamic": access for server (uid -1, gid -1) failed: read not allowed /usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started The following first line is line 260 on httpd.conf: FastCgiIpcDir /tmp FastCgiExternalServer /usr/local/apache/htdocs/zope \ -socket zope.soc \ -pass-header Authorization This is apparently the only error, as when i commented this out Apache started fine. Any ideas on how to recover Zope, and could the update script have actually caused this, or was this just some weird timing, coincience thing? Still Chipping Away At Formulator/ZPT Interface
by beno 06 Nov '02

06 Nov '02

Hi; Okay, I *am* going to write a How-To on this when I get it all figured out with your help. This needs to be done. In DTML, we do this to render the fields: <dtml-in "form.get_fields()"> <dtml-let field=sequence-item> <tr> <td><dtml-var "field.get_value('title')"></td> <td><dtml-var "field.render()"></td> etc. How do I do this same thing in Python? Here's the start of the code: mailhost=getattr(context, context.superValues('Mail Host')[0].id) This much works. Now, I need to be able to call the values of the Formulator form (named *email_us_formulator*). An example of a value is *YourEmail*. How would I access this value with Python? TIA, beno
