tal:repeat usage
by Andrew Athan 05 Nov '02

05 Nov '02

The code above doesn't work. Instead, I have to replace the content= with "python:foo[repeat['v'].index]['a']" Seems silly and cumbersome. Am I doing something stupid here (like forgetting the python syntax for creating objects on the fly so I can use a list of objects instead of a list of dictionaries)? Argh. Going back and forth between JavaScript, Python, Perl and Java is killing me. aathan <Andrew Athan>

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my Zope to the latest stable version. My test machine is running RedHat 7.3, python 2.1.3 (source), Zope 2.6.0 (source). The original data comes from a machine running suse 7.3, python 2.1.3 (source), and Zope 2.5.1 (source) When I start the new Zope with the Data.fs of the previous version, I get: 2002-11-05T20:54:06 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't install OFSP Traceback (innermost last): Module OFS.Application, line 700, in install_product - __traceback_info__: OFSP Module ZODB.Transaction, line 222, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 195, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 256, in _commit_objects Module ZODB.Connection, line 389, in commit - __traceback_info__: (('intSet', 'intSet'), '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x08:', '') Module ZODB.FileStorage, line 705, in store ConflictError: database conflict error (oid 000000000000083a, serial was 0348a51f52d8776e, now 0000000000000000) ------ 2002-11-05T20:54:08 ERROR(200) Zope Couldn't install ZCatalog Traceback (innermost last): Module OFS.Application, line 700, in install_product - __traceback_info__: ZCatalog Module ZODB.Transaction, line 222, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 195, in commit Module ZODB.Transaction, line 256, in _commit_objects Module ZODB.Connection, line 389, in commit - __traceback_info__: (('intSet', 'intSet'), '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x0e\xb6', '') Module ZODB.FileStorage, line 705, in store ConflictError: database conflict error (oid 0000000000000eb6, serial was 0348a51f6ab4c9a2, now 0000000000000000) I also get this warning which hadn't appeared in a long time ago: /usr/local/Zope/2.6.0/lib/python/SearchIndex/__init__.py:19: DeprecationWarning: The usage of the SearchIndex package is deprecated since Zope 2.4. A ZPT newbie question
by Wankyu Choi 05 Nov '02

Hi all, There must be a better way than: The following gives an attribute error if 'this_object' is None: test() seems to always evaluate both params no matter what. In a word, is there a ZPT equivalent to the following python code without nesting again and again? if this_object is not None and this_object.getSomethingBig(): result = self.getSomethingEvenBigger() I'm putting too many nests to prevent this annoying attribute error in NeoBoard skins. Any help will be appreciated. File system cataloging product
by Isokangas, Erik HTC/DE/FRA 05 Nov '02

05 Nov '02

Hi, I'm looking for a product or products that will allow me to catalog/index files that are added into a specific network directory - something like LocalFS with WebDAV support and cataloging. The intent is to provide a search engine for documents/files stored by users (possibly in a directory tree structure on the network). Thanks for your suggestions. Regards, Erik Isokangas

ZPT, standard_error_message and error_value
by Richard Wesley 05 Nov '02

05 Nov '02

I am having a rather surreal time here. I am attempting to write a ZPT version of standard_error_message under Zope 2.5.0 and I find that I cannot display the options/error_value field. If I dump out the entire options dictionary, error_value is there and gets displayed as something like <Products.PageTemplates.TALES.Undefined instance at 0x831c384>, but if I attempt to render it in ZPT (just using what the CMF folks did) I get a generic error message of some kind. DTML has no trouble rendering the same thing as a file/line type error message but ZPT blows chunks. Any hints greatly appreciated. dtml date comparsion help
by Kelley, Sean 05 Nov '02

05 Nov '02

Hi, Trying to get more familiar with dtml... How do I do a date comparison with dtml-in? I have: <dtml-in "portal_catalog.searchResults( meta_type='CMF Event' , sort_on='Date' , sort_order='reverse' , Subject='All Utilities' , review_state='published' )" size="10"> Some stuff </dtml-in> I want to insert a dtml statement so that only the CMF events that are on or after today show up. Do I do my date comparison in the first line somehow or with a dtml-if a little later? I am trying to say if Date (date mm/dd/yy) >= ZopeTime (date mm/dd/yy) do something. Problem is that I it seems I need to use the fmt attribute on the date comparison so I am a little comfused about syntax. tried something like: <dtml-if expr="Date fmt='%m/%d/%Y' >= ZopeTime fmt='%m/%d/%Y'"> but I do not have the syntax right.

Close But No Cigar (Formulator/ZPT)
by beno 05 Nov '02

05 Nov '02

Hi (again); Okay, in DTML, when one calls a Formulator form via a DTML document, the DTML document to which one sends the POST is able to render variables from the form thus: <dtml-var my_variable_from_the_form> Now, I'm trying to do this via a Python script (which I promise I will furnish for other dummies like me via a HowTo): form = context.email_us_formulator i = 0 myField = [] for field in form.get_fields(): myField.append(field.get_value('title')) WHAT DO I DO HERE?? i = i + 1 try: mailhost=getattr(context, context.superValues('Mail Host')[0].id) except: raise AttributeError, "cant find a Mail Host object" mTo = 'beno(a)thewebsons.com' mFrom = YourEmail mSubj = 'subject' message = "Hi, Mike! You've just been sent an email from your Web site!\n\n" message += "Sender's name: " + YourName + "\n" message += "Sender's phone: " + YourPhone + "\n" message += "Sender's email: " + YourEmail + "\n\n" message += "Sender's comments: " + YourMessage + "\n" mMsg = message mailhost.send(mMsg, mto=mTo, mfrom=mFrom, subject=mSubj) where the *WHAT DO I DO HERE??* needs to call the values from the form. (I may be mistaken with the line above that, too.) Can you help me? TIA, beno
