by Gilles Lenfant 25 Oct '02

Hi, lines = somePropertyManager.getProperty('aLinesProp') ... returns always... ['', 'line1', 'line2'...] I always got an empty string at the start of the list and always need to change this by... lines = [l for l in somePropertyManager.getProperty('aLinesProp') if l != ''] --Gilles

Managing default_browser from the ZMI
by Eron Lloyd 25 Oct '02

25 Oct '02

To all who worked on the 2.6 release, great work! I'm just now starting to process the changelog, and try to understand all the latest stuff. The one thing that kind of caught my eye is that during the first alpha release, there was an entry that stated: - added browser_default hook to ZPublisher. This allows objects to specify the path to the default method that the publisher calls when the object is published. The default for objects not defining browser_default is still 'index_html' for bw compatibility. A ZMI configurable browser_default implementation has been added to ObjectManager. You can configure browser_default for OMs via a new "settings" management tab. which maps to this 2.6 proposal explaining the intentions of default_browser: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Proposals/ObjectTypeAssociationAndDeathTo… This sounds like a very exciting feature, one that I hope didn't get lost in the shuffle of getting 2.6 out the door. A quick glance at OFS.ObjectManager and ZPublisher doesn't show any sign of this new behavior. Now, I haven't digested the rest of the changelog or the source yet, but the release announcement does list "Addition of a new default view setting ability" as one of the new features. Was this deferred to 2.7 (which is completely understandable)? Is help needed to bring it up to the Wiki proposal level? Inquiring minds would love to know. Still looking to bury index_html, Eron

standard_error_message not being used?
by Jim Kutter 25 Oct '02

25 Oct '02

I am experiencing a bit of oddness - I customized standard_error_message in the zope root, yet errors are still displayed with the default standard_error_message. It's like it's using some internal standard_error_message. There are no other standard_error_message files flying around. What could be causing this? Zope 2.5.1 binary (py 2.1.3), on Red Hat 6.1

Parameterizing dtml-sqltest's column?
by Richard Wesley 25 Oct '02

25 Oct '02

I would like to write a general purpose table row extractor and the column parameter to dtml-sqltest is driving me crazy. Here is what I would _like_ to do (simplified slightly): <params>Table Row</params> select * from <dtml-var Table> <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-if Row> <dtml-in expr="Row.keys()"> <dtml-unless sequence-start>and</dtml-unless> <dtml-let Value="Row[_.getitem('sequence-item')]"> <dtml-sqltest Value column="_.getitem('sequence-item')" type=string> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> </dtml-sqlgroup> But this expands to having the column equal to the literal text "_.getitem('sequence-item')", i.e. no interpretation is done. Is there a way to do this or do I have to leave all my SQL unprotected? Any clue is welcome, since many of our seaches in the Catalog return nothing because of this NIL

showing images
by Ebbe Kvist 25 Oct '02

25 Oct '02

Hi all, I am starting to figure out things about Zope. And to this problem I have not yet figured out an answer: I have a lot of metadata about photos stored in a MySQL database. I have developed a Zope interface to show the metadata per picture using Zope and it works fine. I store small thumbnails in Zope for some, but not all the pictures. The thumbnail files have the same id as the MySQL variable idnumber which I show on the screen together with other metadata. My problem is that I cant figure out how to a/ test if there is a thumbnail file for the idnumber variable and b/ if so - show it together with the metadata - and if not - show a dummy picture instead I have tried many things but it seems impossible to have Zope test if the contents of the <dtml-var idnumber> variable can be used to check the exsitence of a possible thumbnail file with the same name. Is there a solution? Best regards from sunny but rather cold Stockholm, Ebbe _____________________________________________________________ Här börjar internet!
