Re: [Zope] Training My Users

> I'm going to be teaching a course to get some people started using Zope. I haven't (yet) had to teach anybody to use zope, but I have had to teach others how to use other web based content management systems. Two things really helped out: 1) Create a step by step manual that explains exactly how to do all the tasks you want them to be able to do. I found that what was really painfully detailed for me, was barely adequete for them. What's really obvious to you, won't be adequete to them. And PRINT IT OUT! That way they can make notes, etc, while you're explaining things to them. I found that creating that manual took forever, but it's helpful in case I get run over by a bus tomorrow, and it gives users something to consult when they have questions. 2) I just show users what they need to know and try to remove the clutter. That way they're less confused. I don't know if that's the kind of information you're looking for, but maybe it'll be helpful. Issue 219 - Logout not working (IE problem?)
by Micheál Healy 18 Oct '02

18 Oct '02

Hi, I am having some problems when I try to log out of an application I have built using Zope. I have used a Cookie Crumbler and am logging in to the application using a modified version of the login_form created. The problem is when I try to go to the logout page: http://locahost:8080/manage_zmi_logout. I have tried it with different browsers and, while the results vary, nothing is working as I want it to. In IE6, there is a pop-up, asking me to enter my username and password. I know that this is to log out of the http authentication service, but why does it appear three times? At least at the end of that, I'm logged out. In Netscape 4.7, it fails to connect to authorise the username and password. Does anybody know what security settings I should have in my browser (preferably both of them) to properly log out of the application. If possible, I'd like to do it without the pop-up. I looked the problem up on the net and found this: http://collector.zope.org/Zope/219. Any update would be welcome. TIA, Micheál Healy

Constructing a DCOracle2 BindingArray to match an OUT parameter
by John Ziniti 18 Oct '02

18 Oct '02

Hopefully this is not OT for this list. I am having trouble understanding how to construct a BindingArray object to match and OUT param being used in one of my stored procedures. The OUT is defined in the PACKAGE as: TYPE result_rec is RECORD ( sample_id wells.sample_id_dn%TYPE, ... etc ... ); TYPE result_table IS TABLE OF result_rec index by BINARY_INTEGER; PROCEDURE get_qc_report ( result_tab_io IN OUT result_table, ... etc ... ) If I try to pass in (just guessing), for example: results = cnx.BindingArray(1, 9, 'SQLT_REF') All I get is an "ORA-00000" results = cnx.BindingArray(1, 9, 'SQLT_RSET') segfaults and brings down my Zope ... I'm not sure what kind of BindingArray I should be using.

| Odesílatel: Pascal Samuzeau <samuzeau(a)oreka.com> | I try to re-index my zope'site. When cataloging I have this following | error. So, I read the zope'list about this error. I have run fsrecover | on my Data.fs, but it tolds me OK, nothing is damages and nothing | change in recopy. You have problem with portal_catalog. 1. Which metadata you have defined 2. do you have same filename as some internal variable or index/meta type? 3. it is standard catalog (ie., you do not change meta nor index etc)? First check filenames you used. Regards JL.

No unsaved work... & versionFTPServer
by Jaroslav Lukesh 18 Oct '02

18 Oct '02

Hi all, I use versionFTPServer with Zope251/Win32. The manage_main page show objects which are updated via FTP and locked by that version, but version Save/Discard told me: No unsaved work has been done in this version. Method described in message From chris.kratz(a)vistashare.com Tue Oct 23 18:28:36 2001 Very strange access permission problem in 2.4.1 does not solve this. But Dieter reccomend go to control panel: From dieter(a)handshake.de Mon Feb 04 17:36:57 2002 [Zope] version trouble This works, but only for manager - other users does not have access to Zope root folder. It is some way for general "editing" user to save versions that are done via FTP? Many Thanks, J. Lukesh
