HTMLDOC under Zope

I've put up HTMLDOC and am using it under Zope using an External Method to construct the document. Major problems getting the embedded figures to get recognized by HTMLDOC even though they were specified by absolute URLs (which referenced into a LFSProduct instance). Eventually, I backed off and referenced files in the physical file system. Now everything sorta works. I can create pdf documents on the fly, but the behavior at the browser is not what I expect. The HTMLDOC command line is set up in the string "command". Pipes are setup the the htmldoc program run, returning a string which is returned in RESPONSE after the Headers are set. (stin, stout) = os.popen2( command ) stin.write( file.getvalue() ) stin.close() pdf = stout.read() stout.close() # set the response headers for the appropriate content type RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type','application/pdf') RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Length', str(len(pdf)) ) RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition','inline; filename="%s"' % (outfile_name,)) RESPONSE.write( pdf ) Under Opera 5 with no Acrobat plug-in, this triggers a save-as dialog and saves the new pdf in the browser's local file system. Under IE with an Acrobat plug-in installed, I expect the pdf document to be displayed with an option to save. As it happens, the document raises a diagnostic window indicating that the application type is "unknown" and, hence, the appropriate Active-X control can't be found. The Acrobat reader on the my IE test machines is appropriately configured and regularly downloads pdf's with the desired behavior. Can anyone point out what the problem is? Thanks. -dra

postgresql and zope

Hello all, I need to work with a postgresql database from Zope. I've been looking at zope.org but the only product I've found seems a bit outdated (ZPyGreSQLDA-0.3-rjr2.tar.gz, 1999/08/15). How do I prevent this? Do not use Python to write markup. Return a data structure to dtml and use dtml to create the markup (or use zpt). For example - In script scaleSizes(size) : real_size=string.atoi(size)/1280 values={'top':str(100*real_size), 'left':str(150*real_size)} return values In a dtml page or method: <dtml-let sizes="scaleSizes(size)"> <style type='text/css'> .headline { position: absolute; top:<dtml-var "sizes['top']">; left:<dtml-var "sizes['left']">} </style> </dtml-let> In other words, let Python do what it is good at and let dtml or zpt do what it is good at - which is rendering markup. Authenticated role problems

I have a product which declares a security classification ("View Reservation System") and I've restricted the roles that apply to that classification to Authenticated and Manager. Then, in my code, I have: security = ClassSecurityInfo() security.setDefaultAccess("deny") __roles__ = () security.setPermissionDefault("View Reservation System", ['Authenticated', 'Manager']) ... def getFormErrors(...): ... security.declareProtected('View Reservation System', 'getFormErrors') Now, when I attempt to access the object as an Anonymous user, Zope doesn't prompt me for a user ID and password (as it would if the role were restricted to Manager only) to satisfy the Authenticated role requirements; instead it simply throws an exception. Again: help to vhm & apache rewrite problem

Hi all, I'd really appreciate any help on this: I'm trying to do a virtual host mapping with apache. I've the Rewrite Module working, and trying to do the following(in the .htaccess- file): RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.mydomain.de:80/Chris/mydo main.de [L,P] Also, I tried without the [L,P]. it just shows the directory index of the webserver- not zope. If I try it with /* ... I get the Zope-Site, but with the full path (./VirtualHostBase/http/...) Can anyone help?!? Thanks, Chris

Greetings, I'm working on a Zope product that will render a table of items I'd like the user to be able to commit actions upon. The table would look similar to this: Item A | Edit (submit) | Delete (submit) Item B | Edit (submit) | Delete (submit) I'd like the "edit" and "delete" to be buttons. I've seen examples in which a method can be called from a form's submission button, e.g. <input type=submit name="deleteObject:method" value="Delete"> I'd like to pass the operand to the form submission handler, but I know of no way to do this. Hello, If zope stop (not hang) then run it in a way to be able to see the console output. Hopefully you will see what cause the problem. The Z2.log log things when the request is completed, it is useless to track fatal problems. Eventualy run zope behind apache, I had less problem this way.
