LocalFS indexing on CMF ?
by Cravoisier Thierry 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

Hi all, I am using LocalFS on W2000 with Zope 2.51 and CMF1.3 I catalogged my files by using the portal_catalog tool, the "Find Ojects", searching for the "File" object type. In the ZMI, I get the list of all object identifiers cataloged : looks OK ! When I move to the details of the catalog contents "catalog" tab, I get the object identifier correct BUT the details of a cataloged file gives me some strange information: Metadata Contents Metadata is the information that the Catalog keeps inside of its internal structure so that it can answer questions quickly. This is then returned in the "brain" that the Catalog gives back during searches. Key Value Subject () Type Folder CreationDate 2002-04-17 10:34:57 review_state ModificationDate 2002-09-19 18:36:20 Date 2002-09-19 18:36:20 EffectiveDate None modified 2002/09/19 18:36:20.656 GMT+2 created 2002/04/17 10:34:57.568 GMT+2 ExpiresDate expires 9998/12/31 getIcon folder_icon.gif Creator zopeadm effective 0999/12/31 Description portal_type Folder Title <the title of the Folder just before my Local FS Directory" ??????? > The index contents seems ok except the Title that again refers to the <the title of the Folder just before my Local FS Directory" ??????? > !!!! Any Hint ? As an impact, it gives as a search result, always the same "name" for any object indexed from the file system and behaves the same for the topic items !!! -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thierry CRAVOISIER

Posting a document to Zope via a Java Program
by D Bamud 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

My idea is to submit a document using a Java Client and not the browser. I could do this successfully using my *JAVA HTTP Client program* written by me. The server I used is Tomcat4.0.3 and a JSP program Upload.jsp (that uses com.orelly.servlet.MultiPart). If it works fine here it should work fine with any HTTP server including Zope. But when I try "Zope" server (with program http://localhost:8080/Examples/FileLibrary/addFile) it gives me a 500 error. I am posting the error message below if you can give some clue... (I used the specs from RFC1867) null: HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error Server: Zope/(Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32) ZServer/1.1b1 Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 12:57:34 GMT Bobo-Exception-File: C:\Zope\bin\lib\cgi.py Content-Type: text/html Bobo-Exception-Type: ValueError Bobo-Exception-Value: bobo exception Etag: Content-Length: 1704 Bobo-Exception-Line: 603 getRequestMethod : POST getResponseCode : 500 getResponseMessage : Internal Server Error --------------------------------------------------------- Here is my entire working Java HTTP Client program --------------------------------------------------------- import java.io.*; import java.net.*; /** * RFC 1867 * ======== * Content-type: multipart/form-data, boundary=AaB03x * * --AaB03x * content-disposition: form-data; name="field1" * * Joe Blow * --AaB03x * content-disposition: form-data; name="pics"; filename="file1.txt" * Content-Type: text/plain * * ... contents of file1.txt ... * --AaB03x-- */ public class PostDocument { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { // // CONSTANTS // String url = "http://localhost:8080/Examples/FileLibrary/addFile"; // <--- Zope/Python // String url = "http://localhost:8080/rcn/jsp/UploadFile.jsp?action=upload"; // <--- Tomcat/JSP String docPath = "D:\\rcn\\java\\HttpURLConnection\\testdoc.txt"; String bndry = "AaB03x"; String paramName = "file"; String fileName = "testdoc.txt"; // // CREATE AN HTTP CONNECTION // HttpURLConnection httpcon = (HttpURLConnection) ((new URL(url).openConnection())); httpcon.setDoOutput(true); httpcon.setUseCaches(false); // ??? mxmRelations v.1.0 has been relased
by Max M 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

http://www.zope.org/Members/maxm/productList/mxmRelations It has been in production use for a long time, and the older version 0.2 has been relased for a long time without any complaints. So I guess it is time to call it stable :-) What is new? The most important change is that it is now possible to keep relations when an object is moved. This was a bit difficult before, but two new methods has been added to solve this. It is easier to create web forms to make relations. Also the documentation has been expanded a bit. What does it do? It solves a few common problems with Zope's object oriented database. Normally in a relational database some tables will be used to show relations between rows. It can be both "one to many", and "many to many". In Zope, doing the same thing is more difficult than it has to be. mxmRelations solves this problem in a rather simple way. enjoy! Max M

unexplained shutdown
by Tony Flanagan 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

Hi all I am running Zope 2.4.3 on Redhat 6.2 to serve a solitary website. This has been running for nearly two months now but has been problematic over the last couple of weeks. At that point the Zope server began shutting itself down, firstly only occassionally but now it is happening every night and I must restart Zope every morning. I have looked at the Z2.log file for any indication of what is happening but without any clarification. Has anyone else encountered a similiar problem or could you perhaps suggest what may be going wrong. TIA Tony

Zope and qmail
by Juergen Osterberg 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

hi, I am running several Zope instances on different ports on a machine, which uses qmail as MTA. Now trying to sent: <dtml-sendmail smtphost="mail.myserver.de"> To: Juergen Osterberg <osterberg(a)30doradus.de> From: "Zope Server" <zopeserver(a)myserver.de> ... results in: Error Type: SMTPRecipientsRefused Error Value: {'osterberg(a)30doradus.de': (553, "sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)")} Of course, I dont want to configure my machine as a wide-open relay. Which should not be necessary, as the Zope instances sending the mail are on the same machine, anyway. The question is, how do I have to configure qmail that it accepts my Zope instances as local mail clients (or twist Zope to make it so)? thanks and best regards Juergen

[Fwd: RE: [Zope] Python version of Zope 2.5.1]
by Chris Withers 10 Oct '02

I think Igor meant this to go to the list... > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: RE: [Zope] Python version of Zope 2.5.1 > Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 09:13:51 +0200 > From: "Igor Leturia" <IGOR(a)emun.com> > To: "Chris Withers" <chrisw(a)nipltd.com> > > OK, I will, but doesn't anybody know what Python version Zope 2.5.1 > uses? Python 2.1.3 > And if it is Python 2.1, what Zope version will use Python 2.2? Zope 3 There are rumours that Zope 2.7 will _require_ Python 2.2.x. Personally I thnk this is too big a jump in too short a space of time, especially since Zope 2.5.x and 2.6.x don't currently even _support_ Python 2.2 :-( cheers, Chris

Variable names in records
by Matthew Fairclough 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

I have a form with radio button entry that I'm trying to pass to a database. I found a workaround by hawkfish which solved the problem of how to get the radio buttons working within dtml-in using 'sequence-number' (otherwise the whole form is just one button). This is the only method I've found that works. The record comes out as: [{'FieldKey': '1', 'description1': '1', 'item1': 'test', 'quantity1': 'test'}, {'FieldKey': '2', 'description2': '2', 'item2': 'test', 'quantity2': ''}, etc My variable is 'description', but in the record it's 'description1', 'description2' etc. How do I render it as <dtml-var description>? I think this has something to do with splitting the string but I don't know much about that. Where do I start? Many thanks. Regards, Matthew.

RE: [Zope] Java program within zope
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 10 Oct '02

You likely want to lookup JPE. Never used it, but it is supposed to be a transparent bridge from Java to CPython and vice versa. User management -- Was: Unenlightened XUF question
by Ken 10 Oct '02

10 Oct '02

Chris Withers wrote: >Why are you looking to use XUF? > >I'd go for a normal user folder with a cookie >crumbler in the case you've described so far... OK, I'll back up and describe my case: 1.) authentication allows access to premium content area; no user creation of documents 2.) planning for 1,000-2,000 users (members) within a year 3.) need to store users' email addresses and membership expiry dates 4.) member autonomy to change/retrieve password that's about it :-) It seems natural to store user properties close to the authentication tool, and XUF is pretty new and cool. Which user management product would best do the job? TIA to all, Ken
