Using a Python script inside a dtml-tree - repost
by Pierre Godefroy 08 Oct '02

08 Oct '02

I have the following Python script, which works well (it gives the position of an object in the form of a "nested numbered hierarchy", such as : "3.4.3.2.3") : --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- from string import join res=[] lll=len(context.REQUEST.PARENTS) for i in range(lll-1): xyz=context.REQUEST.PARENTS[i].id a=context.REQUEST.PARENTS[i+1].objectIds().index(xyz) res.append('.'+str(a+1)) res.reverse() fullnumber=join(res) print fullnumber return printed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BUT, in its present form it only works for the object which is being called directly by the user. I would like to use it also in the framework of a dtml-tree, in order to order to apply it successively to each object reached through the tree and displayed as a menu item : <dtml-tree> <dtml-var my_python_script> </dtml-tree> Of course then, "context.REQUEST.PARENTS" is not good as it applies to the main object being called, not to the successive objects which are being retrieved recursively through the dtml-tree. What should I do? How should I modify the script? Thanking you all in advance, Pierre Pierre Godefroy 52 rue des Archives 75004 PARIS FRANCE Tél. : +33 (0)1 42 74 46 05

external cgi
by Liz Pelletier 08 Oct '02

08 Oct '02

Hi all - I am selecting certain records from a table. Within the <dtml-in> loop, I need to execute a cgi script residing on a second server (which is not hosting zope) for each row of returned data. How?? I can't use RESPONSE.redirect, that I know of, because it does not return control to the originating zope page it was called from after executing. I've installed ZCGI, but that doesn't seem to facilitate cgi scripts on a different machine. I've tried a simple python script which imports urllib and then try's a urlopen, but that didn't work either. Has anybody had to solve a similar problem or know where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance! Liz

KebasData
by Mark Poole 08 Oct '02

Hello, I am using KebasData to pull a web page , and I want the entire page displayed. Is there a location/site that has any info on the syntax of the render method? I am trying to pull an entire web page and getting errors, but when I view the raw data inside the zope management page , the raw data looks perfect. Re: DocumentLbrary with databases
by Ken 08 Oct '02

Bonjour Fabien, I am completely ignorant about relational databases external to Zope, but I think that if your database entries can be called with a URL, and can be displayed as html or text, pdf etc, then you can store them in DocumentLibrary. I presume you have a reason to want to do this, such as the really cool facilities offered by DocumentLibrary! Perhaps, like me, you want to mix these data files in with other file types, such as pdfs which you need to index. I have stored nodes of an XML Document, by iterating over them and inserting their attributes into the inputs of a customized document_submit method to give the metadata, and appended a simple render method to the absolute_url of each node to provide the URL to for DocumentLibrary to actually fetch. Sounds complicated, but it took five minutes to input 200 files that way. But I was wondering about something: DocumentLibrary is said to be a cross between a BTree Folder and a ZCatalog. Document Files derive from the Metatype 'File'. I am using DocumentLibrary as a search engine, indexing remote pages and returning results pointing to the page on the remote server (the 'source' property). Thus, once the page is indexed I could delete it (as long as there is no need to reindex). But can I delete the original document and keep only the catalogued 'brain'? Anyone? TIA, Ken

Security Question
by McDonnell, Larry 07 Oct '02

Hi, I set two folders with acl access. When the authorized user clicks on the link, Username and password appear as I expected. Once the transaction is complete I send an email to a specific user to let them know there has been some activity in their database. The email works on the the no-security folders but now I see this error message. Error Type: Unauthorized Error Value: You are not allowed to access MailHost in this context Any thing I am missing? The sendmail call looks as follows: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('originator', REQUEST.SESSION['originator'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('capa_report_no', REQUEST.SESSION['capa_report_no'])"> <dtml-let sender="'lmcdonnell(a)protonenergy.com'" > <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> To: <dtml-var sender>, From: <dtml-var sender> Subject: Corrective Action Report Update <dtml-var capa_report_no> A Corrective Action Report- <dtml-var capa_report_no> has been updated. Please review the report. </dtml-sendmail> </dtml-let> Thanks Larry McDonnell Proton Energy Systems 50 Inwood Rd. no start script on netbsd
by Matthew Herzog 07 Oct '02

07 Oct '02

Hi. I'm running NetBSD 1.6 on a Pentium system. UI installed Zope from netbsd's pkgsrc which is like FreeBSD's ports collection. There is no start script at all. zope-2.2.2 is what I have. As for python it's python20-2.0.1nb2. So I figured out that /usr/pkg/lib/zope/inst/make_start.py should be able to generate a start script. It cannot. If I run python /usr/pkg/lib/zope/inst/make_start.py I get: Error: Zope requires Python thread support! The Makefile for python on my system says that python pth is a dependency: /usr/pkgsrc/lang/python# grep -i pth * pyversion.mk:BUILDLINK_DEPENDS.python21pth?= python21-pth>=2.1 pyversion.mk:_PYTHON_VERSION_21pth_INSTALLED=yes pyversion.mk:.elif ${_PYTHON_VERSION} == "21pth" pyversion.mk:PYPKGSRCDIR= ../../lang/python21-pth pyversion.mk:PYDEPENDENCY= ${BUILDLINK_DEPENDS.python21pth}:${PYPKGSRCDIR} pyversion.mk:PYPKGPREFIX= py21pth pyversion.mk:. include "../../devel/pth/buildlink2.mk" pyversion.mk:. include "../../devel/pth/buildlink.mk" srcdist.mk:.elif ${_PYTHON_VERSION} == "21" || ${_PYTHON_VERSION} == "21pth" Can anyone help please? __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? [ p.t. ] [[ is there any specification (or statement) about how the controls should be ordered when a user agent sends a submitted form? Shoul the sent control's (name=value) be arranged in the order they are received? Or in the tabbing order (if and when specified)? ]] Do not count on any particular order. Anyway, in Zope you get them as a dictionary, and that is not ordered. Cheers, Tom P
