freezope dot org in trouble?

I have noticed a serious lack of free zope hosting sites. I mean, there's a lot of sites out there that will give anyone a free web page, but none that I can find that will give a free zope folder or plone instance or something like that. Freezope appears to be one such site but it doesn't work. Their register.freezope.org site is down and they appear to be out of disk space on the main zope instance at freezope.org. Anyone know any scuttlebutt on this site? It would be a shame if there were truly no free zope hosting sites around... -- Regards, Bryan Simmons "All parts should go together without forcing. Hi, in CookieCrumbler.modifyRequest I see: self.delRequestVar(req, self.auth_cookie) and was wondering why the auth cookie is deleted from the request every time? Thanks, Mark

Zope + Oracle + Cron

We have zope installation that uses an Oracle backend to store data on. We also have the system setup to do a backup of the database and Zope Installation everyday. Everything runs smoothly until it comes time to start Zope back up. For some reason whenever the script tries to start Zope back up, it comes up but with a broken ZOracleDA product. It complains about not being able to find the library file called libclntsh.so.9.0. If I try to start Zope myself from command line right after the script is done running (actually stop it then start it again) it works and connects to Oracle fine. I've tried using "nice" to up the priority level but it doesn't seem to work. I also thought that maybe I wasn't giving oracle enough time to start up so I've tried adding sleep commands to the script, again, with no luck. If anyone has any experience in this field or has any suggestions, please let me know. This is a quite annoying situation, as this server is quite important to the company and downtime is a bad thing. -David

I have installed Plone with openSUSE 10.2 (working). I have also installed LDAPUserFolder and LDAPMultiPlugins (working). The default installation of Plone is located in "/var/opt/zope/default". I have loaded mod_proxy, mod_proxy_http, mod_rewrite and mod_headers. I have also compiled and load mod_ntlml. I tested mod_ntlm on just an ordinary directory that contained an "index.html" and it worked fine. Mod_ntlm asked for username and password, which authenticated. I set internet explorer to "automatic logon with current username and password" and i was able to get to the web page without typing a username and password. winlock.error: 33 -- Zope2.app()

Hi All, I am getting winlock.error :33 when trying to execute a function called connectZope (mentioned below). If i execute the same function when zope is not running, it works fine. I think this is bcoz of zope acquiring lock on data.fs when its running. Am i missing anything here or Is there any other way i can accomplish the same ( i wolud like to execute a python script (zope object)) from a background process instead of calling the same on the Web). Florent Guillaume's database Conflict Error on session objects patch not working ?

Hi all, As discussed here : http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2007-January/170151.html and continued here : http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2007-January/170156.html I am experiencing issues regarding a database ConflictError on session objects. I use zope 2.9.0 python 2.4.2, and the code of the MultiDB support has been patched (as suggested by Florent Guillaume) http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zodb-dev/2006-January/009737.html My main concern is to debug my application where, on every couple of requests coming from two different browsers at the same time (before the first request is , one of them wins and the other always fails and raises a conflict error. It is not a ReadConflictError, nor a WriteConflictError. It is a "ConflictError: database conflict error". I am aware that conflicts occure up to 20% of the time, but in my case it is almost 100% in this specific situation ! If I do not use the session object in my code, I have no errors at all and everything just goes fine. Any idea on how to debug this ? Florent, maybe ? someone help me ! I am trying to dynamically create iCalendar or vCalendar files. I can do this with a Zope Page Template, naming it myCalendar.ics. When myCalendar.ics is accessed through a web browser, iCal pops up and asks what I want to do with the calendar info, etc. and all is well. But what I would like to do is use iCal or thunderbird( lightening ) to subscribe to the calendar so that updates are handled automatically. For iCal to do this, it wants to access the ics file via webdav. So I attempt to connect to zope via its webdav port and request the sale zpt, but of course it sends it as its source, not as the rendered calendar. If i take out all the TAL and just have a static vCalendar or iCalendar file then this works via webdav but my whole reason for doing this is so that I can populate the calendar with events form a RDBMS when the myCalendar.ics template is called. Your ideas appreciated.

Limiting access to a Zope Site

Hi. I'm looking for several differnt approaches to probably a fairly simple problem. I have a Zope site running behind apache rewrite rules. www.mysite.org That site needs to be publically accessable. A subdomain site (for development): dev.mysite.org needs to be accessable only to a team of developers, and by no one else. The developers may or may not have static IPs and move around quite a bit, so limiting access to a set of IPs is not a good option. Another possibility is making the whole (plone site) private, but that changes some key behaviors that we are working on. I'm looking for alternate approaches to making the subdomain only accessable to the developer team. session-timeout-minutes value in runtime Zope

This might be an FAQ but I wasn't able to find it when searching. How do I get access to the value of 'session-timeout-minutes' coming from etc/zope.conf in runtime Zope? My app knows when people log in. Cyclic garbage collection todo 2.9.3 onwards, fixed?

Hi All, Could anyone advise whether this has been fixed in any of the Zope versions beyond v2.9.3: To-do: * Add cyclic-garbage collection support to C extension classes, especially to acquisition wrappers. I don't see any mention of it at all after Zope 2.9.4 in the changes.txt. Cheers Jon
