I'd like to sort the items in a folder by relevance, relevance being a property I've assigned. Allow import of whole filesystem class hierarchy?

My company has a Zope server that has no editing rights for external persons - only employees have management permissions. We also have a company-specific hierarchy of several hundred Python modules that I'd like to access from Zope. Rather than modifying each and every module as per the instructions in the "Security" chapter of the ZDG, is there a way to say "allow the import of any module inside this part of $PYTHONPATH"? Oh, for those curious: part of the reason for moving code from Zope Python scripts and into filesystem code is that my company has officially adopted Python as our new development platform for new projects. I'm cranking out thousands of lines of code, and the Windows guys are tweaking it to run under IronPython. The end goal is to have a library of code that runs under Unix, Windows, Mac, or wherever else we might want to explore, and then to write frontends to that library in whatever seems appropriate to the task. For example, new web apps will be written with Zope calling those modules. New GUI apps will be written with Visual Studio calling those modules. Yay Zope and Python! Does it have an XML-RPC, SOAP or other web API interface? If so then you could write a Zope External Method in Python or Perl that runs ColdFusion using the latter's API. It acquires these names from a lines property of the Zope folder Cheetah. The template engine Cheetah returns the rendered page to Zope which displays the names in the title of the page. URL referencing

Hello, I've got a script located in /wms/Ccp/Main/TeamLead/Scripts and it needs to reference a workflow object in /wms/Ccp/Main/Workflows/Ccp/ . Currently, we do this by issuing this line : wf = context.Workflows.Ccp.ccp_agro_article But everytime we run this, a username/password prompt comes up, and no matter what we enter (even if we use a Manager account), nothing works. I'm thinking maybe I should refer to the workflow object using a full-path approach. Question is, how ? Do I say : wf = wms.Ccp.Main.Workflows.Ccp.ccp_agro_article ? I tried it and got a global name 'wms' is not defined message. Hope somebody here could shed some light. Regards, Danny

Adjusting ZODB Pool Size

Hi! We have a very busy site that required zserver-threads to be bumped to 10. My understanding is DB connections (pool_size) is hardwired to 7, no "knob" to adjust, and it should match the number of zserver-threads. We do get warnings in the logs, so I should fix it. Create a "custom_zodb.py" and put in your Zope installation directory. Does that mean the zinstance or zeoinstance? The root, or the /etc of the zeoinstance/zinstance? How do I determine the cache_size setting? Right now the "Target number of objects in memory per cache 15000". TIA

zope/zeo on multiprocessor machines?

I've been told that zope is not set up to utilize the extra processing power of multiproc machines. I have a new intel x-serve with the dual-core dual-proc setup, and want to get the most I can out of zope. I've read a few articles that mention running more than one zope process as zeo clients sharing a single ZODB. What isn't mentioned is any additional seetup needed to ensure that each zeo client uses a separate processor. Is there any? Or is this automagically handled? Thanks in advance for any answers, Cris

debugging a wayward zope process

I have a zope server (2.7.4) that I maintain and every now and then the python process that's running zope goes heywire and eats all of the cpu resources and basically make my website stop responding. Does anyone have any clues as to how I can debug this problem? I'm not the best python coder but I do know how to use pdb. And I'm looking for sorta where and what pieces would be the best place to start putting the trace() bits. ... but really any sort of guidance would help... here's a small bit from ps auxwwww showing a bit of what I mean, but when it *really* goes heywire it just eats all of my cpu and causes the load to shoot up near the 50s (on a dual opteron 275 processor machine) USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND zecms 4062 12.6 8.9 830640 718768 ?
