Sort by date: Script to DTML
by Patrick Romano 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

I have created this script which allows me to sort a certain number of kubes by content creation date in the right way showing : DD/MM/YY : import time for items in sequence.sort(context.objectValues('Kube'), (('content_creation_date','cmp', 'desc'),)): data=items.getProperty('content_creation_date') data2=time.strptime(data,("%Y-%M-%d")) print time.strftime(("%d-%M-%Y"),data2) print items.title return printed How can I achieve the same result of the script, but within a DTML- document? (or method, or even page template) I'm not sure about what I can use there or how I can import the script correctly... -patrick _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

tal:condition --SOLUTION
by zope 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

Hi All Thanks once again for all the suggestions . I tried out almost every method and I have come up with a mixed version of all the suggestions which eventually does the work. <div tal:condition="exists:request/form/lkid" tal:omit-tag=""> <div tal:define="global mName python:here.oms.Users.lib.pset_links(lkid=request.form['lkid'])"> </div> <div metal:use-macro="container/zptmac_memPLall/macros/?mName"> </div> </div> Now the first time the page loads I dont see any macro. After the page is reloaded with the variable "lkid" having a value I get the desired macro running. I hope this can be of use to everyone. One of the reasons I was having problems was that the macro is actually a table and the XML was not being able to render the table tag inside the div tag. Pluggable brains and the record class
by Etienne Labuschagne 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

Hi there, All the examples I find show how to use pluggable brains IF you already know the field names you are going to use - I don't and want to discover them in run-time. I know the records object has a names() method, but that doesn't help, because the single record object doesn't know about the records object. I want to write a pluggable brains class that takes all the fields and values and wraps them in an XML string, now I know that I can write a method that operates on the records object, but hoped I could use pluggable brains for this. It seems as if the record object is a list/dict like object (I can both use self[0] or self.fieldName - but there is no keys() equivalent and I have also tried dir, __dict__ on all the base classes, but to no avail). Thanks Etienne.

single quote in structured text
by John Hunter 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

I am writing a section in a matlab guide on strings, using structured text. strings in matlab must be indicated by single quotes, as in x = 'My name', not x = "My name" I need to tell the structured text renderer to display the single quote. I have tried such shenanigans as ''file1a.dat'', 'file1b.dat', "'file2.dat'". The last one preserves the single quotes but also displays the double quotes, which doesn't really work either. Any suggestions? I can always fall back on the :: code environment.... Thanks, John Hunter

Acquire Permission
by Pankaj 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

Hi everyone, I have a small question. I hope someone can help me. I have an interface to the security management screen in Zope from my product. Basically, I have created some mappinds of permissions and this form allows users to change the security settings from this form. It also has a checkbox for acquiring the permissions for a particular permission name (ex. view). Everything works very well. However, I would like to show (if the acquire permission is checked), a sort of permission tree. Basically, just showing what permissions are acquired from what parent objects. Anyone knows how to get the parent objects (from the top layer) and their permission settings from a page template or a python script. I do not necessarily need a full code or something. A nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this. tables in DTML methods interpreted with fmt=structured-text
by A M Thomas 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

Hi there, I was interested in reading about the new formatting for expressing tables in structured text. I'm having problems getting tables in structure text to work at all - still. I'm using Zope 2.5.1, and found the structured text Python module and the documentation that was mentioned earlier, so I'm pretty sure it's the right version (earlier I was using 2.5.0, if that makes any difference). My site stores text in a DTML method, then displays it within a page using <dtml-var TheTextObject fmt=structured-text>. Structured Text in general seems to work, putting in paragraph tags where there are blank lines, handing **strong** and *emphasized* text, etc. - but the tables don't seem to be working. For example, this: |-----------------------------------------------------------| | Your **name**: | <input name="sender_name"> | |-----------------------------------------------------------| | Your **e-mail**: | <input name="sender_email"> | |-----------------------------------------------------------| | Your **comment**: | <textarea name="sender_comment"> | | | </textarea> | |-----------------------------------------------------------| renders with the three label words in <strong> tags, but the dashes and pipe characters are right there in the output HTML. This is all inside <Form> and </form> tags, although I can't imagine that making a difference. Is "fmt=structured-text" not the same as the structured text I'm thinking of? Where have I gone wrong? I know I'm probably missing something obvious. I will be grateful for any advice. Thanks, Am

Programmatically adding my product
by Damon Eckhoff 22 Aug '02

22 Aug '02

Hey All, I have a product, MyProduct, and am not able to add it programmatically. For Example.. inside a python script I do: folder_id = "yada" folder_obj = getattr( container, folder_id ) folder_obj.manage_addMyProduct( id, title, etc ) This raises an AttributError with value of 'manage_addMyProduct'. I can add/edit/view my product from the ZMI without any problem. I'm stumped, could someone help? I have no idea what direction to pursue on this one. Damon.

Just checking, you are doing this aren't you?: return printed -----Original Message----- From: Nathan Valentine [mailto:nathan@nathanvalentine.org] Sent: Thursday, 22 August 2002 12:31 p.m. To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] random.choice() import random print random.choice(["true", "false"]) In a stand-alone .py file, this will print either "true" or "false". In a Python script in the ZODB, it prints "None". What gives? -- --- Nathan Valentine - nathan(a)nathanvalentine.org Jabber: NRVesKY AIM: NRVesKY ICQ: 39023424
