python script returning DTMLMethod problem
by Tom Germaine 07 Aug '02

07 Aug '02

Hello All: My earlier question (form/script problem) regarding passing variables from a form to a python script was successfully solved with the suggestion by Malik Jablonski to include this in the script: request = container.REQUEST myfile=request.myfile fname=request.fname Thanks Malik. But I have a further issue in that I wish the python script to return a DTMLMethod that calls dtml-tree to display the contents of a folder. I cannot find any references to python scripts returning DTMLMethods or Documents and the suggestions following do not work, I think because of namespace problem. >>must pass the >> "positional" parameters. >> you coded: > >>>return context.avc.showFiles() > >should be something like this: > >return context.avc.showFiles(None,context.REQUEST) and >I've had some success with equivalents of >return context.avc.showFiles(context) >- then your DTML Method will have a context >and can find 'avc' in it. The form, script and DTMLMethod are all in the same folder object and 'avc' is the container object (folder) for that folder but the error I get is Error Type: KeyError Error Value: avc Even if I have a single line script calling this DTMLMethod (take the form out of the loop) I get the same error. Does acquistion work with python scripts? And can anyone offer a way for a python script to return DTML methods or documents? Even if the script: return context.showUploadRequests() calling a simple DTML method: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var REQUEST> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> fails with error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: standard_html_header Tom Germaine

Meta types icon (URGENT)
by Peter Bengtsson 07 Aug '02

From an object you can get its icon by doing print someobject.icon What if I only know a meta type (as string), say "DTML Method" and what I want is "/misc_/OFSP/dtmlmethod.gif" I looked at the filtered_meta_types() method but it does not provide this information. hi, keep the discussion on the list... maybe others will be interested too. The official supported Python for Zope is Python 2.1.3. Running Zope with Python 2.2 is not recommended for any production environment at all. As far as I know Zope 2.6 needs Python 2.1.3 too. cheers, maik WONG,KAI-WEE (Non-HP-Singapore,ex5) wrote: > Hi Maik, > > Is there anyway I can get a Zope installed with python 2.2 with it for > Windows??? > Only python2.2 can support >2GB files. > > May I know also whether 2.6.1 will support python2.2 for Windows?? > > Thank you. > > Cheers, > Wong Kai Wee > > -----Original Message----- > From: Maik Jablonski [mailto:maik.jablonski@uni-bielefeld.de] > Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 5:45 PM > To: WONG,KAI-WEE (Non-HP-Singapore,ex5); zope(a)zope.org > Subject: Re: [Zope] Enquires > > > hi, > > keep the discussion on the list, so others could profit or contribute...;-) > > sorry, but I have no idea how to built python with large-file-support on > windows! the RPMs won't work because they are compiled for linux. > > -mj > > WONG,KAI-WEE (Non-HP-Singapore,ex5) wrote: > >>hi Maik, >> >>Will this work for Windows?? >>Am I supposed to recomplie Zope with the RPMs for python 2.1 ?? >> >>Sorry for asking so many questions. >>I am a newbie in Zope. >> >>Thank you. >> >>Cheers, >>Wong Kai Wee >> >>-----Original Message----- >>From: Maik Jablonski [mailto:maik.jablonski@uni-bielefeld.de] >>Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 5:39 PM >>To: WONG,KAI-WEE (Non-HP-Singapore,ex5); zope(a)zope.org >>Subject: Re: [Zope] Enquires >> >> >>hi, >> >>the linux-binary-zope-distro does not have the large-file-support built >>in the python-interpreter [hit me if I'm wrong]. you should use the RPMs >>for python2.1 from python.org and a Zope-Source-Installation. Hacking filenames in http headers?
by Garikoitz Araolaza 07 Aug '02

07 Aug '02

Hi! I'm using a DTML method to get an XML view from a ZClass object. What I'm trying to do, is that when the user requests the address: http://www.mysite.com/Objects/MyObject/xml he/she gets an xml file with the ID MyObject.xml so that he can save it cleanly in his filesystem (or open it with his browser), so that he/she doesn't end up having thousands of files called simply 'xml'. I've thought that a header like: <dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type', 'text/xml')"> could be a solution if HTTP protocol would have it... But I also think that it wouldn't be very clear for HTTP protocol to have one filename for the URL and a different one for the reply to the user. Any hint? Thanks!! LocalFS upload and delete
by Jose Gerardo Amaya Giron 07 Aug '02

Hello all. I'm using DTML with LocalFS to manage files in a site. Is there a way to upload and delete files to the LocalFS object via DTML? Or is there another way to do this to tasks? Sorry for the newbie question but I'm kind of lost. using getitem()
by Hamzat Kamal 07 Aug '02

Hi, I have wanted to use getitem() in a Dtml Method to render docs "now" which are located in the subfolders where the Dtml Method is . <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('now', ZopeTime().toZone('GMT+1').strftime('%d%m%y'))"> <ul> <dtml-in "Zcat_Index_1_Dtml_Doc(id=now)"> <dtml-var "_.getitem(now,1)" size=100>... <br> <li> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"> More </a> </li> </dtml-in> </ul> How do I refference these subfoders so that those Docs can be rendered by the getitem(). RE: [Zope] Authenticate against active directory
by Meilicke, Scott 07 Aug '02

Yes, I have done it with the CMF version of LDAPUserFolder. The key was to use another tool (Softerra LDAP Browser) to figure out the schema, but after doing that, and making the appropriate entries in LDAPUserFolder, it worked. The only thing I tried was authentication. I did not try to get groups or other properties. Unfortunately I have deleted that particular CMF instance, so I can't recall what settings I used to get it to work - bummer. My company has commissioned me with constructing an intranet and as we already have a user/group database in MS Active Directory, the platform we choose should be able to authenticate against that. I would like to use Zope instead of some prepackaged MS compatible product. I've tried several different methods including exUserFolder, LDAPUserFolder and jcNTUserFolder. I have been able to populate an acl_users folder with users from my local Windows machine. But I need Active Directory. I've heard that it should be possible but I've never heard of anyone actually doing it. Has anyone successfully authenticated users against an AD system? If so, HOW?? I am almost sure that *I* replied to your question in the list! Your problem is that the links for "expand/collapse" do not contain your "uplevel". Someone invented the "urlparam" attribute, but he did not think enough. In almost all cases, the parameter to extend the "expand/collapse" URL is not constant but an expression (as in your case). Your options: * search for the "urlparam_expr" patch someone donated to fix precisely this bad design. Unfortunately, the patch did not make it in the Zope core. * use a cookie to pass your "uplevel" around This is not nice but you need not to patch Zope code. It is this, what I do in my DocFinder product (for a similar purpose to yours). Dieter

At least one person was asking about this, so here you go. I got this from Beehive in response to a query form I submitted on their site: =========== begin forwarded message ========== Hi, We are moving offices so I apologize for the brief answer: - We will not be able to publish a new edition until September 1st - *All* subscriber subscriptions will be set to start September 1st (this means that everyone will get at minimum one years worth of ZopeMag the majority more like 1 year and a half) Sorry for the inconveniance! Thanks, Mark -- beehive KG =============== End forwarded message ==============
