URLs and /
by DA Loeffler 06 Aug '02

I have been experiencing a problem with relative URLs. If I have a folder 'myFolder' and the user enters the address [mysite]/myFolder, they are automatically redirected to [mysite]/myFolder/index_html, but their browser does not realise this. So if I have a relative link in the page <a href="somefile"> which is intended to point at /myFolder/somefile, the browser, thinking it is reading a _file_ called 'myFolder' in the root folder, then requests /somefile, not /myFolder/somefile, and Zope quite rightly replies that it doesn't exist. How do I get round this one? For ordinary links it can be fixed with a <base> tag whose href is set to absolute_url(), but this isn't respected by JavaScript window.location.href="" statements. The only solution I have found so far is for index_html to do a RESPONSE.redirect to a different file, whose URL is then right, but this is grungy. Does anyone have any better ideas? David

<dtml..> show dynamic page
by HT 06 Aug '02

Hi, I have problem understanding thte DTML document and hope some expert help. examples: The code below is found in my index_html basically this index_html is wrapping 3 more documents which are listed below in dtml-var. This is fine and works well. But please look at 2nd example: 1st example: --------------------- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var my_content_page> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ----------------- 2nd example of dynamicpage document --------------------- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var pg> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ----------------- The <dtml-var pg> contain dynamic pg variable. At the present moment, I don't know what page, the user is selecting. Assume, the user select: http://myzope/dynamicpage?pg=userinfo If I use the 2nd example, the <dtml-var pg> resolve the page as a String instead of as document. How to solve this?

why two session identifiers?
by Mario Bianchi 06 Aug '02

Dear list, could anybody tell me why the Session product assigns a session id AND a session token to a session? I've noticed that expiration of the session data object causes (on a further request) the session id to change, while the token stays the same: any explications? Thanks, Mario. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

I do not know why (I am not convinced by the explanation). However, I know that "RESPONSE.redirect" will not abort processing. It will traverse to the object, render it, and maybe, finally, redirect. Probably not, what you want. Are you sure you want to redirect to "self.login_form(REQUEST)"? The argument to "redirect" must be an (absolute) URL. > This gives me a "Resource not found" error. I expect, the redirect is executed but the return value of "self.login_form" is not really a valid URL. You get a "Not found". > You mentioned it would also be > possible to do it by raising an exception - but this is not totally clear to > me. raise 'Redirect',location "location" is the URL you want redirect to. You use it the same way you do it elsewhere. But you have more methods available (also private ones). DocFinder/DocFinderEverywhere may help you to see what is available. Drawback: you may see also things you should not use because they are things from the old days and only retained for backward compatibility. Dieter

ZDataQueryKit Help!!
by Derek Basch 06 Aug '02

06 Aug '02

Hello, I posted the below question before but no one answered. So I guess I will now ask, does anyone have anyone have any experience with ZDataQueryKit? Can anyone give me a rundown of how to use the Z Report Tool? It looks like a great tool but I cant get it to work (see below). Thanks for the help, Derek Basch Hello, I am trying to learn how to use ZDataQueryKit w/ Firebird/Interbase and I keep getting a KeyError. I create a simple ZSQLMethod such as "SELECT * FROM T_CONTACTS" and name it "testmethod". I then create a Z Report Tool with the id and title of "report" and a Data Source of "testmethod". I press Add and Edit and I get: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: KeyError Error Value: PK_CON_ID I thought it might have something to do with the primary key column but I tried just selecting a non key column and it still fails. Rather than mucking around in code for hours, I thought I would ask if anyone has an idea what im doing wrong? Thanks in adavance, Derek T Basch __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Health - Feel better, live better http://health.yahoo.com

excellent note should be added to docs - how?
by A M Thomas 06 Aug '02

Hi there, I was reading through the digest of the zope list, and found Chris McDonough's explanation of the two session properties, browserID and sessionID, really great. Is there a procedure to get this chunk of information added to some kind of documentation tree? I looked around briefly on the Zope site and the ZDP site but didn't see anything. I'd love to just copy and paste this information into a Wiki or something, or create a new 'node' somewhere for it. I guess there's always Appendix B, but that's sooooo looong. - Am

Re: [Zope] Zope in intranet - the cool apps?
by Pawel Lewicki 06 Aug '02

Hallo, I want to add my $.02, too. Am I right that the main issue to build the complex portal (intranet) solution is a good conceptual model? There are so many aspects to integrate like content (portal objects, external files, etc.), newsboards or forums, user and permission management. And of course good indexes of all. Are there any attempts on that field? UML maybe? Pawel
