Hi, I am writing a thesis about the security of Zope and have these questions. I am wondering if this is the right place to ask. Is Zope behind Apache the only solution to provide SSL connection to Zope? If not what are the other options? Have there been any work on making Zope being able to handle SSL itself? If not, why it is hard to? Kindest regards ~Meitham

store dict in session

According to the zope book it should be possible to store dicts in session. ISO-8859-5 (cyrillic) and TextIndexNG2

Hi there, wondering if you might be able to help me? I've got plain text documents that contain iso-8859-5 chracters (not utf-8) and I'd like to get TextIndexNG2 to catalog their contents. I've tried creating an Index with default encoding set to iso-8859-5 but no joy, the cataloger won't catalog the docs! I've also tried setting the Zope locale to russian, but again no good. Any pointers greatly appreciated! Thanks, Mark

Running zope egg-packaged product tests

Hello, I'm trying to run tests for an egg-packaged product, deployed in development mode (I'm using zope 2.10.1). I'm using the "zopectl test" command, with "--path" set to my product source directory. The problem is that the test runner seems to call the product initialize() function 2 times, resulting in duplicated profile id declarations... Is there a way to run the tests for an egg-packaged product without setting the --path option to the source dir, in order to prevent this duplication ? Thanks Seb

Different field conversion for lines and ulines : why?

Hi, I would like to know why lines fields are not converted with the same logic as ulines fields in Zpublisher.Converters. lines uses splitlines() while ulines uses split('\n') This gives different result: >>> ''.splitlines() [] >>> ''.split('\n') [''] >>> u''.splitlines() [] >>> u''.split('\n') [u''] So, when creating an empty Zope property for example, ulines version value will be (u'',) while lines version value will be () Thanks. ZSQL Methods and transaction control

Hi there, I am implementing a tool to handle userdata that is stored in a MySQL db. The underlaying logic of the stored procedures used to maintain the db content dictate that I have to control the transactions myself. I understand that there is a way to handle transaction controll in the ZMySQL methods. However I find no documentation at all on how to use it. Without using ZMySQL methods I would be using the following piece of code: db = mysql.connect(host="localhost" ...) cursor = db.cursor() query = "CALL insertUser('%s', '$xxx$', @id, @error);select @id, @error" % 'JohnTheUser' cursor.execute(query) # get the next resultset, it has the result of the select cursor.nextset() result = cursor.fetchall()[0] error = int(result[1]) if error: print "error %s when trying to add user %s" % (ERRRORS[error], 'JohnTheUser') db.rollback() continue #we are in a loop actually .. db.commit() How can I mimic that using ZSQL Methods thanks for any pointers Robert

TypeError when copy FS python script to custom folder

I am in the process of trying to add RAMCaches to my python scripts, and wanted to test it out TTW via custom. However, whenever I make a copy of my FS python script to custom, and then view the object which uses this script, I get the following error: TypeError: arg is not a code object This python script is used by my archetype object to fetch a vocabulary list, by calling a separate zsql method. Any ideas why this happens? Integrating METAL into Zope Product

I've got a Zope product which will render itself using standard_html_header and standard_html_footer if they exist. I would like this same product to look for a specific Page Template (ptMaster) and render itself using a macro and filling a slot with it's contents. Hi, is it a problem to use ubuntu's (6.10) standard python 2.4.4c1 for Zope 2.9.6 or Zope 2.10.1 ? If not which version should I build from source? Thanks, Marcus

Values lost when restarting

Hi this is probably a little vague but any help is appreciated. I'm developing on an old zope application, which I ported from zope 2.5.1 to zope 2.9. The application seems like it's based on the addressbook application in the "Zope Bible" The application is a tool for localization, where translators can log in and edit "translation resources" in "resource folders" I made a function to export all these resources to a csv-file and one to import the values in the zodb again. the text are set using a function on the resource calling def setText(self,language,text, REQUEST=None): # ... some stuff self.texts[language] = text The function works fine and updates the values correctly. But after I restart zope all the changes are lost. This not so when calling the function from the Resource objects web form. The "Zope Bible" says something about calling self.__changed__(1) after updating the value but this doesn't seem to work even though the objects inherits from "Persistent" When importing I fetch the object by using the RestrictedTraverse function, that's really the only difference I can see. Please write if you have ANY idea of what could be the problem.
