Peculiar Zope WebDav Behavior

I open up a Zope 2.10.1 ZPT or DTML page in a webdav client, using Notepad or the Amaya web editor. Unfortunately, the DTML tags and ZPT attibutes get replaced with the substituted values. All I see in Notepad or Amaya are the rendered HTML that would get returned to the browser. Thus I cannot modify the ZPT or DTML page source, since the source is not visible. Is that intended behavior for Zope and WebDav? It seems kind of pointless. Is there a workaround? I don't object to using ZopeEdit, but I would prefer to use WebDav, since that is a general tool that is not specific to Zope. What is Zope/WebDav for if not for modifying the source (not the rendered HTML!) of ZPT and DTML objects?

Hi Reena, Well I was assuming you used Zope before... Well... After extracting the product to Products folder under Zope root you should restart zope service and then open your browser to http://localhost:port/manage Then you have to create your products object inside zope using that management interface.... Zope Specific Example

Hi, I am trying to give a specific example of Zope server to demonstrate the power of Zope access control. I need a site that has lots of roles and permissions. I had a look at the Zope Powered sites in the http://www.zope.org/Resources/ZopePowered/ page but it does not really say much about the access control part. Any idea of a good example. Error messages in startup after copying a Data.fs to a new zope version

I have ported a zope product running on zope 2.5.1 to zope 2.9. The application works fine with no error messages in the log. Now I want to port an old Data.fs from zope 2.5.1 with the Product Data on. It seem to work fine by just copying it to the new zope 2.9 var directory. But every time I restart I get the error messages written at the bottom of this email. As said everything seems to work fine even searching. There is no error messages after zope has started. [Warning] Zope 3 component architecture (CA) not reliably usable for registrations from Python

I tried to use Zope3 events to get informed when requests start and end. One of our modules (the interface module to "jpype") requires such a notification for reliable work. Therefore, it tried to register the corresponding subscriptions on import of this module. Unfortunately, this works very unreliably -- for the following reasons: The CA performs by itself only extremely minimal initialization. Especially, it does not register the "Adapters" service, necessary for the registration of event subscriptions. The full CA initialization is only performed quite late, in the call to "Products.Five.initialize". Event notification registration attempts before this time will fail (with a "ComponentLookupError: 'Adapters'"), those performed after this time will succeed. The "Five" initialization is stupid enough that it will fail when the service registration for 'Adapters' has already been performed. At the current state, event notifications can reliably only be defined via ZCML. This is unfortunate for our use case where the registration should be bound to the import of a given module. -- Dieter
