Why is it considered bad? Harlow Pinson Indepth Learning Email: hpinson(a)indepthl.com Web: http://www.indepthl.com Voice: 505-994-2135 FAX: 208-475-7678

RE: [Zope] From whence came <base>?
by Charlie Reiman 19 Jul '02

19 Jul '02

Yes, quite sure. They are both DTML Docs. More experimentation shows that simply creating a dtml document: /test/hello containing text like <html><head> <title>hello</title> </head> <body>Hello</body></html> Won't give me a base tag. So what inserts the base tag? What criteria does it use to make this decision? Grepping the source wasn't very useful, nor was searching the Zope Book. > -----Original Message----- > From: Roger Erens [mailto:rerens@dela.org] > Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2002 10:39 PM > To: 'Charlie Reiman' > Subject: RE: [Zope] From whence came <base>? > > > Hello Charlie, > > ? How to touch session_data without fingerprints???
by Pawel Lewicki 19 Jul '02

19 Jul '02

Hallo, I want to transparently touch the session_data. When I call functions like REQUEST.SESSION.hasSessionData() or getSessionData(create=0) I create the new object in transient object container. Is there any way to avoid it and check if session object exists? Or if not - how to delete only my session object from container? I can use external functions if necessary. All the fuss is about counting logged users. I want to limit that number, and I do it by counting the number of session objects - already done. The problem is that I can't check the number without increasing it :( Maybe there is other way. Pawel Lewicki

Grabbing an item from a list of tuples
by abg＠comco-inc.com 19 Jul '02

19 Jul '02

I am writing a script which returns a list of tuples, like so: [('http://www.news.com/frontdoor/0-1.html?tag=hd_ts', 'CNET'), ('http://www.news.com/shopping/0-1257.html?tag=hd_ts', 'Price comparisons')] My question (and it's a dumb one) is: how do I refer to the individual values within the tuples when iterating through the list? Here's what I've got so far: myCount = 0 for elem in p.anchors: for elem in elem: print myCount, ": ", elem[0:] myCount = myCount + 1 Here's what it returns: 0 : http://www.news.com/frontdoor/0-1.html?tag=hd_ts 1 : CNET 2 : http://www.news.com/shopping/0-1257.html?tag=hd_ts 3 : Price comparisons How can I specifically reference the urls/titles separately? Am I making sense? Thanks, Aaron Gillette abg(a)comco-inc.com

>How can I specifically reference the urls/titles separately? Something like this? myCount = 0 for elem in p.anchors: print myCount, ": ", elem[1] myCount += 1 (didn't test it) elem[1] is the second value of the tuple Hans de Wit Stichting Farmaceutische Kengetallen Postbus 30460 2500 GL DEN HAAG Tel. 070-3737448 Fax 070-3737445

re: couple of newbie questions on implementing zope
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 19 Jul '02

Hi David, in answer to the first part of your question; If you run Zope on W2K with the IIS subsystem completely removed, and do your security homework (at least I am finding) W2K to be a very stable platform. If you need a second webserver, either in front or behind, the latest stable Apache works very well. If you do need to move to an alternate server plaform, just export your site as a .zexp file to the /var directory, move it to the new server, and import it from the /import directory. Assuming you have the same products installed and everything configured identically in your Zope, you should have no problems. In answer to the second part of your question, yes, most anything you can do with DHTML, Zope will support. Another perhaps cleaner approach might be: index_html calling: header_html content_html calling content.htm footer_html All, except content.htm is in your site root, and content.htm sits in a folder by itself and can be moved as you envision. Zope as a WinNT Service
by hpinson＠indepthl.com 19 Jul '02

19 Jul '02

Hi Mike. After complelty trashing my default W2K Zope startup service with the Zope Windows controller, I needed to recreate the service, and did not have the resource kit tool to do so. Instead I used a free utilty called FireDaemon, which allows you to easily create an NT service wrapper around most any executable. http://www.firedaemon.com After setting this up, startup options are directly edited in the registry. It has worked flawlessly, and is useful for other stuff too. Harlow Pinson Indepth Learning Email: hpinson(a)indepthl.com Web: http://www.indepthl.com Voice: 505-994-2135 FAX: 208-475-7678
