simple z-class problem
by Ben Avery 19 Jul '02

Hi, I'm having intermittent problems with the simplest z-class within a new product, through the ZMI. I'm going through the stages of 1) I create a new product, CalendarEvent. 2) inside Test, I create a z-class, id: CalendarEvent. 3) inside this, I add some property sheet with some properties through the properties tab. 4) finally, I change the default view to propertysheets/Prop/manage from the dropdown list. Now when I try to create an instance of it in a development folder, I get the constructor form, but then a NameError: *Error Type: NameError* *Error Value: global name 'CalendarEvent' is not defined* trace below: Traceback (innermost last): File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 114, in publish File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: CalendarEvent_factory) File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 98, in publish File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: CalendarEvent_add) File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: CalendarEvent_add) File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 127, in __call__ (Object: CalendarEvent_add) File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: CalendarEvent_add) File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_With.py, line 61, in render (Object: CalendarEvent.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)) File /export/home/Zope-2.5.1/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Util.py, line 159, in eval (Object: CalendarEvent.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)) (Info: REQUEST) File <string>, line 2, in f NameError: (see above) I have done this exact procedure before, with success. Now it doesn't work. I've rebooted the zope server. I'm using Zope 2.5.1, Python 2.1.3 on Solaris 2.7. Has anyone else seen this, or can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

hi, keep the discussion on the list... maybe others can learn something too... answer to your question: of course you can use layers. ZOPE don't cares about your "HTML"-coding, so you can put all advanced (D)|(X)HTML-features into your sites. greetings, maik David Walker wrote: > Hi Maik - > > thank you for your quick response and your suggestions, I'll experiment with > them. > Yes that question was a bit long - sorry :-) > Here is a short one... > > can you position objects with layers (z axis) and x/y coordinates instead of > using tables as you can with DHTML or XHTML? > > I would think that you could, utilizing a combination of CSS and XML. > > thanks again- > David > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Maik Jablonski" <maik.jablonski(a)uni-bielefeld.de> > To: "David Walker" <dw(a)pzaz.net>; <zope(a)zope.org> > Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2002 1:07 PM > Subject: Re: [Zope] couple of newbie questions on implementing zope > > > >>David Walker wrote: >> >> >>>Hello - >>>I understand that the development of a site can be done on my Windows >>>workstation, but once it goes live, doesn't the site need to be moved to >> > a > >>>real server? I hope it contains every preceding proxy IP in the chain, or else it is useles for getting previous proxies addresses. You can add my solution to your one if you consider it worth people's attention :) My name at the end with small font will be enough. -- С уважением, Dmitry mailto:deadq@bkzebra.com

Re: Re[2]: BITS
by James Johnson 19 Jul '02

I'm using both IssueTracker and BITS, both are nice products. Using Zope 2.5.1, CMF 1.2, win2k I can only create projects by using the parent CMF acl folder. I can give the CMF members the BITS project manager role and it works. If i create a BITS in my root without CMF involved. I have to also give the project manager the "Manager" role in order for projects to show up for that manager. Is this expected behaviour? Peace, - James. > Got the same advice from all and still can't make it allow me to create > project. Somethings missing but don't know what it is. Maybe the version > of ZOPE is wrong? SOLUTION: How to pass REMOTE_ADDR through Apache
by Dmitry Litovchenko 19 Jul '02

19 Jul '02

Several months ago I was looking for solution how to pass REMOTE_ADDR inside proxied environment with Apache acting as frontend. Nobody has the solution ready and now I have one. Pretty simple but requires adding 6 lines in def __call__ (...) of VirtualHostMonster.py (you are using VH Monster I hope :) A new solution has come. Visit your ~zope/lib/python/Products/SiteAccess and change VirtualHostMonster.py adding these lines after def __call__(self, client, request, response=None): so it becomes def __call__(self, client, request, response=None): '''Traversing at home''' vh_used = 0 stack = request['TraversalRequestNameStack'] while 1: if stack and stack[-1] == 'VirtualHostBase': vh_used = 1 stack.pop() protocol = stack.pop() host = stack.pop() if ':' in host: host, port = split(host, ':') request.setServerURL(protocol, host, port) else: request.setServerURL(protocol, host) #-------- HERE CODE BEGINS -------- if stack and stack[-1] == "_set_": stack.pop() names = split (stack.pop(), "#") values = split (stack.pop(), "#") for ix in range (len (names)): request.set (names[ix], values[ix]) #--------- HERE CODE ENDS --------- And modify your RewriteRule in Apache virtual host so it looks as: RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.yourhost.com:80/_set_/REMOTE… [P,L] That's it. This RewriteRule adds two variables to Zope REQUEST: REMOTE_IP and PROXIED_FOR which contain demanded values. And do not forget to refresh SiteAccess product or restart whole Zope. -- Sincerely, Dmitry mailto:deadq@bkzebra.com

couple of newbie questions on implementing zope
by David Walker 18 Jul '02

18 Jul '02

Hello - I understand that the development of a site can be done on my Windows workstation, but once it goes live, doesn't the site need to be moved to a real server? So my ISP would need to have Zope installed, yes? Seems obvious but I wanted to check. ;-) I'm creating a simple newsletter site and it seems like Zope would be perfect. As new articles are written, the old ones need to be moved to an archive page. If I understand correctly, this procedure would be easy with Zope. If each article is contained within its own folder, they could be simply dragged from one location to another using the Zope control panel. My question is this, if this simple newsletter page has four positions for articles, how do I control where on the page the articles appear. For example, the main article would be just below the header and next to the left navigation. Can I define a folder for that position using X & Y coordinates (like I would if I was using DHTML), and then simply drop into that folder this week's main story? I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if my question isn't clear. Thank you in advance - David dw(a)pzaz.net

Product not registering?
by VanL 18 Jul '02

18 Jul '02

Hello, I am trying to create a new python product that builds on a previous product. I am doing the following: install product "Foo" Foo installs correctly. cp -r lib/python/Products/Foo lib/python/Products/Bar cd lib/python/Products/Bar search and replace "Foo", "Bar" rename Foo.py Bar.py, etc restart Zope, no errors Now, the drop-down box for adding objects includes object "Bar", but the installed prducts screen does not list Bar as an installed product, so adding Bar fails. Any help? Thanks, VL

Structured Text's "DocumentWithImages" class
by A M Thomas 18 Jul '02

Hi there, I was just looking through the change notes for Zope 2.6.0a, and came across something about "Structured Text's "DocumentWithImages" class" - I searched zope.org, the zope cookbook, and the mailing list archives, and couldn't find any reference to DocumentWithImages - can someone point me to the correct documentation? This sounds interesting. Thanks, Am

Hello All. I use to have the following error: to resolve this I install the SQLRelay library in the zopes /lib/python2.1 directory, Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/Zope/Zope-2.5.1-linux2-x86/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 531, in import_product ... ... (Object: localtime) ImportError: No module named SQLRelay Now I can say that the module is ok, but I now I get the following error: 2002-07-18T15:26:19 ERROR(200) Zope Could not import Products.ZSQLRelayDA Traceback (innermost last): ... ... File /usr/local/Zope/Zope-2.5.1-linux2-x86/lib/python2.1/site-packages/SQLRelay/PySQLRDB.py, line 10, in ? (Object: localtime) ImportError: librudiments.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory When I install the rudiments library it install in the /usr/local/firstworks/ directory [root@localhost firstworks]# ls bin doc etc include lib var Just in case I was wrong, I move all the files in the /usr/local/firstworks to /usr/local to see if that was the problem but I get the same error. Can somebody help me where should the rudiment library files should be or is still an error in the module. thanks in advance Gerardo Amaya
