SSLCertAuth Question

Hello, I would be very pleased if anyone could give me some help with the following problem. I tried to use the SSL Cert Auth product to do SSL client authentication on a Windows 2000 machine. It works fine on a Windows 2000 pro machine, but fails on a Windows 2000 Server machine. Form Data and Passing to other Pages

I have an advanced propertysheet editing page that I created which must have quite a bit of additional functionality. On this page, I display several text areas filled with text blurbs. If there is no data for any individual text blurb, I do not display the text area, but rather some notification text, and a form button which I wish to link over to another page which uses the IE Active X WYSIWYG editor (which I already have running) to edit some additional data. The problem is, I do not want to have more then one copy of the editor page, and to know which data to edit, and where to save it, the IE Edit must know where it was linked from. Workaround for Pluggable Brains bug?

Hello, I would like to ask if anyone knows of a workaround for a bug in Pluggable Brains. The bug is a well known one, and has been discussed on zope(a)zope.org at least twice and reported to the Collector. However, there is no sign of afix yet. Essentially, the problem is that one cannot add one's own attributes to a Pluggable Brain class. The most recent discussion of this is "[Zope] bug in pluggable brains ?" posted by Geir Bkholt, 05/09/2002 10:02 PM. The problem I am facing is this: to assemble a complicated set of data from several SQL queries, fiddle the data extensively, then pass it on bit by bit to a simple ZPT sitting in the foreground (it must be simple enough to be edited by content managers without tinkering with the business code). It must be able to pass the data on in bits, not all of which will be used each time it is called (the user must be able to select different levels of detail), so it cannot be a single method. I had hoped to implement the data assembly object as a Pluggable Brain, but the bug prevents me from storing data in it easily. How else can one create a custom class for ephemeral objects which lie outside the main Zope object database hierarchy and last only for the duration of one transaction? David Loeffler

Zope and Apache+SSL

I am trying to set up Zope so that it is accessible via secure link through Apache. Configuration: Solaris 2.8 Apache-2.0 with mod_ssl and mod_proxy shared Zope 2.5 Apache lives in /usr/local/apache2 and has the following in its configuration: <IfModule mod_proxy.c> ProxyRequests On ProxyPass /Zope/ http://myhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse /Zope/ http://myhost:8080/ ProxyPass /misc_ http://myhost:8080/misc_ ProxyPass /p_ http://myhost:8080/p_ </IfModule> Zope lives in /usr/local/Zope. If I just use it like this, all forms are insecure, so I added a SiteRoot object to a root folder with Base https://myhost/Zope and Path / Now everything is secure, but the top frame of the management interface returns Object not found! error (404), and apache error_log shows that it tried to access https://myhost/manage_page_style.css If I try to go to https://myhost/Zope/manage_zmi_prefs and change there "Use Style Sheets" to "No", it is accepted, but going to https://myhost/Zope/manage still gives me the same error, even if I try to restart Zope. hi Douwe, thanks for your quick response. I don't think I could use one catalog, as I'll be searching on different fieldnames, and wanting different metadata for each z-class, so I would need all the indexes and metadata for each object - there will be around 30 z-classes, so the catalog might have around 100 indexes and metadata items. I prefer the idea having assigning a catalog to each z-class. Upgraded to 2.5.1/2.1.3, now I don't get a 'session_data' in 'temp_folder' on startup..

Hows *that* for a descriptive subject line! :) But seriously folks... I've upgraded an installation to Zope 2.5.1/Python 2.1.3 and I get the weirdest error. The 'session_data' object in the top level folder 'temp_folder' does not get created - but only on *one* of my 2.5.1/2.1.3 sites. As this is the most important of our sites, and we use session machinery quite a bit, I tend to notice this rather quickly. Can anyone think of where I might start to look for a solution to this problem? ExternalEditor question with HomeSite

I use HomeSite 5 on Windows for HTML editing of Zope files through FTP. Works great. Wanted to use it and try EE on my Zope files. It opens them fine and saves them fine. But if I only save and close just that one file and then try to reopen it, I get a WebDav locked error. If I close HomeSite altogether it works fine when reopening that same file. HomeSite appears not to be sending the unlock signal back to Zope but it DOES save the file. Just thought I would pass that on. BTW... HomeSite5 through FTP to Zope is a killer tool. I've said it here before but thought I would mention it again for any new Windows users out there. -Allen
