Stopping/Starting Zope as an NT Service

Running Zope 2.5.1 on Win2k, installed as an NT service. On a fresh boot, I can start Zope with 'net start Zope', windows task manager shows both python.exe and PythonService.exe as running. If I try to stop Zope with 'net stop Zope', task manager shows that PythonService.exe dies but python.exe is still running. Task manager also won't let me manually kill python.exe since it belongs to a service. So I try to restart the service with 'net start Zope', task manager shows PythonService.exe start as well as a 2nd instance of python.exe. These two quickly die however, leaving the original python.exe still running and making windows think that the service is stopped. Has anyone else experienced this un-service-like NT service behavior, and if so, does anyone have a workaround? David A. DCOracle2 + Stored Procedure

Hello zope users, Prerequisites: RH7.2 Oracle8.1.7 zope 2.5.0 DCOracle2-1.1 I can easily add DCOracle2 Database Connections, but when I try to add DCOracle2 Stored Procedure I get: ---------------------------------------------------------- Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Invalid request The parameter, connection, was omitted from the request. Make sure to specify all required parameters, and try the request again. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The point is I have no text field for Connection, only for Id, Title and Procedure Name in the Add Form of Stored Procedure. hi, I want to pass a string generated from a Python script via a form when creating an instance of a ZClass. The script is as follows: ## Script (Python) "lfsPathImages" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath request = context.REQUEST result=[] baseStr = request.BASE0 urlStr = request.URL1 result ='/www/doc/images'+ urlStr[len(baseStr):] return result The script is located in my (virtual) root. I want it to return the path of the current folder (less the but when it is called from within the PageContainer_addForm it picks up the path of the factory and not the path of the current folder, see below: /www/doc/images/Machine/manage_addProduct/PageContainer/PageContainer_factory I suppose the answer is in the bindings but being such a newbie, I don't quite understand this yet. Hi Robert - I understand your frustration installing PIL. I have been trying off and on for a couple months. The Pythonware site since March has said the Windows binary will be posted 'later this month'. I requested an installer from the Image group and the file I received hangs at the point that the installer wants the Python path identified. Per the readme, the source files on Pythonware reportedly require a C+ or VB compiler that I do not have access to. I have followed the threads in this group and as best I can tell, people are installing an older Zope (2.3.3) to use the older binaries and some have been dropping the incremental patches and revisions over time as the development programmers announce them. No one has shared their log of what files were added in what order. I, too, don't know how to do a new Win32 setup of Zope2.5.1 and its included Python release and have PIL available to Zope. I have no clue how to determine where Python sets its path to know what directories are in it and to add the PIL directory to it. It would be great if someone could post a how-to readable by newbies that specifically linked to the current versions of all needed files instead of another endless search of 'somewhere in the sourceforge site'. I inquired once with Python Labs and their response is 'buy a support package' for $2K and we'll point you to the latest files. Until I can demo this stuff, I can't get a client to finance 'an interesting technology'. I wish I could help. Its extremely frustrating. If I get more clues, I will certainly share them with you. Gang, I have lifted some technology from SQLSession. Although it is quite nifty, it has a few disadvantages I'd like to have fixed. SQLSession uses ZSQL-Methods in the following way. Each ZSQL-Method (i.e. SQL-expression) is assigned to a string: _sql_ichi=""" SELECT * FROM ni WHERE ichi = <dtml-sqlvar ichi> """ Each string is used for the instantiation of a ZSQL-Method: self.sqlIchi=SQL('sqlIchi', 'fetch ichis', '' 'ichi:int', _sql_ichi) This code is placed in the __init__ of the instance that will use the ZSQL-methods as methods. There is room for a few improvements. 0.) I don't like the typing overhead. 1.) The ZSQL-methods are not updated automatically 2.) SQLSession provides an UI for editing the ZSQL-methods at runtime, but this makes a mess, since all changes from a debugging-session have to be duplicated in the code after debugging. So: what about a file that declares and names each sql-statement and gets loaded like a DTMLFile? The object instance that is supposed to use the ZSQL-Methods as methods is passed as a parameter. The filename could be pickled and reloaded every time there is a change: SQLFile.SQLFile(myFineInstance, 'dbConn', 'mySQLFile.sqf', reload=1) Anything wrong with this approach? I have not found anything even close to it. I would volunteer for writing it, but maybe I have missed something that makes it problematic or useless. Spinning Zope and error message on W2K

Hi. Zope periodically spins upon a request, and this error is continually written to the STUPID_LOG_FILE: 2002-06-27T21:35:26 ERROR(200) ZODB Couldn't load state for '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x87\x86' Traceback (innermost last): File D:\zope\lib\python\ZODB\Connection.py, line 447, in setstate AttributeError: 'None' object has no attribute 'load' OS is W2K and Zope is 2.5.1. I am using the ZODBC product if that is helpful. I've seen discussion on this topic in the forums, but have not found a clear answer as to why or how to correct. Any thoughts? Tried this change but I still do not get correct sorting. Thats what zope said when I made a new python script and entered something like: class AdsSecondClass: def __init__() blah blah as inspired by some example code. Why? All I really want is to store four integers on the server and have them updated by surfer actions. Thanks in advance, Ad.
