getPhysicalRoot() method

Hi, I want to get the QUERY_STRING, so I can use it for my <dtml-with> loop. I heard from Max that you can traverse Zope with a path from code directly. You have to use the restrictedTraverse() method.. Asuming that: QUERY_STRING='path/to/training' You can just do it like: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('training', getPhysicalRoot().restrictedTraverse(QUERY_STRING))"> <dtml.with training> ... etc. But the getPhysicalRoot() method gives me a NameError: NameError: global name 'getPhysicalRoot' is not defined So I tried the following: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('training', ROOT().restrictedTraverse(QUERY_STRING))"> Where ROOT is a Python Script in the Root of Zope that does the following: return container But 'training' now is an <Application instance at 91b6bf0>. Can anyone help me with this problem? Greetz Nico

Actually, I like the FastSiteSearch (http://www.zope.org/Members/Ioan/FastSiteSearch) better since I need to put a search engine on an old Zope 2.3 site that doesn't have Python Scripts installed. This is a Production site with 32000 hits a month by 200+ users They rely heavily on Yihaw Directory Product. Is there a way to configure the 3 (FastSiteSearch) objects to find Yihaw Folders and other Yihaw objects via meta-data and (better yet) the content of the Yihaw object? Right now, the problem is the ZCatalog doesn't do a good job on finding numerics (i.e. check number 1234, etc). Performance tests

Hi all Just wanted to post my first findings on Zope performance and the -t & -i options. We are currently testing on a SUN Solaris (Sparc) with Zope 2.4.4 and Python 2.1.3. First tests have shown, that increasing from -t 7 to -t 15 (constant -i). Has no aparent effect on processing speed. This can naturally depend on many things but I think our Test is quite comprehensive and the speed differences we did see were in the max about 1-2% increase or decrease. More later. Oliver Erlewein

Out of Memory Error with ExternalFile

hi folks, I've run into a problem using Zope 2.6.1a1 and ExternalFile 1.0.1 on Alpha/OSF. I have added an ExternalFile object which points to a tar file about 80MB in size. It correctly sets content-type application/x-tar, but when I try to download the file using the Zope object I get an "Out of memory" error from Zope. The file is accessible by zope and lives in a subdirectory called "extfile" within the zope installation. Python Version 2.1.3 with bigger thread stack size patch applied. Thanks Phil, This did help indeed. It's even better to create a separate filetype.vim in vim's runtime directory to prevent these settings from being overwritten at the next upgrade of vim. The file %rundir%\filetype.vim has to contain this: augroup filetypedetect au BufNewFile,BufRead *.dtml setf dtml augroup END Best regards, Roger ? I have a small python script called sendmail: container.aq_parent.send(messageText=msg_body, mto=to, mfrom='aaaa(a)dom.com', subject=sub, encode='base64') The problem is that when I try to call it from another PyScript, I get a "not allowed to call send in this context" error. If I cant do this then how can I send an email from within another PyScript?? Hi, I've a Zope's site 2.4.3 on a Sun/Solaris/Unix. I've have to translate this one on a Win2000/XP Zope: 2.5.1 So, I have installed Zope+CMF (the latest version). I have tranferred my Data.fs Everything looks fine but a strange problem with the login of my members appears. They can't login, I have a look under the DTML Method, or anything else of the CMF (login_form,logged_in,...) and compare with my 2 Zope site. Nothing is different. Windows helper application for External Editor 0.4

Thumbs up for the friendly installation process! After installing (without myself touching anything, except for my coffee mug) clicking on the pencil icon next to a python script resulted in firing up gvim on my Win2000 machine. gvim didn't start up for dtml-methods/documents nor page templates. That's where I had to change the #editor line in the ZopeEdit.ini file to explicitly define gvim61 as my editor. What remains is that syntax colouring works for python and templates but not for the dtml-methods/documents. (using the vim command :set ft=dtml results in what I'd like to happen automatically) Any ideas? Best regards, Roger Erens

MySQL password scheme

Hi, we have had a problem to use an existing userbase stored in a MySQL table where the passwords are stored with the default encryption of PASSWORD() (hash code function). I solved this problem by using SimpleUserFolder and extend the password schemes zope with a MySQL password scheme. If you are interested, yu can found it under collector issue 435. I hope the Zope guys will include it into the core rsn, the patch is short and uncritical. Dirk
