[BUG] Permission mapping partially ineffective (was:[Zope] ZClass and Permissions)
by Dieter Maurer 26 Jun '02

26 Jun '02

Douwe (mailto:douwe@oberon.nl) reported: ... permission mapping has no effect for "manage_addProperty" inherited from DTMLDocument ... I analysed the problem: Permission mappings defined in the ZClass' "Define Permissions" tab itself (rather than that for a specific method/propertySheet) are ineffective. As a consequence, the permissions of inherited methods cannot be remapped. Permission mappings defined for specific methods or property sheets are effective. Accesses to such a method or property sheet are wrapped into an additional PM (Permission Mapper) acquisition wrapper that takes care of the permission mapping. Such a wrapper is missing for ZInstance accesses. This is a potential security breach, as anticipated protections expressed via a permission mapping is not effective. Workaround: If the permission mapping has the aim to restrict a permission, there is no work around. If the permission should be extended, a wrapper method can be defined that calls the original method. Its "View" permission is mapped to the desired target permission. It gets a proxy role such that it is able to call the original method. Dieter

RE: [Zope] webdav image copy error
by Cindy Reikes 26 Jun '02

26 Jun '02

I've tried to FTP the image files now, and I get 426 'Error creating file', which is coming from FTPServer.py (looks like this object gets a 403/unauthorized and returns the 426). I can FTP PUT text files, but it looks like binaries are not allowed. How can I get graphics into Zope? Am I going to have to upload them one-by-one through the "Add Image" form? -----Original Message----- From: Cindy Reikes [mailto:creike@yahoo.com] Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 4:31 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] webdav image copy error Hi, I'm trying to copy a lot of images into Zope, and I want to use M$ web folders to drag and drop. I can create and delete folders in Zope through this, but every time I drag an image into the Zope folder, I get "an error occurred copying some or all of the selected files.", and nothing is copied into the Zope folder. I have the WebDav permissions set to allow for lock, unlock and access for all users. Help! Thanks, Cindy (version is 2.4.3, running on windows 2000 server) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? RE: Creating Linux DIR
by Tran, Mike 26 Jun '02

26 Jun '02

Howdy folks, I've followed Kapil's suggestions below and created an external method called mkdirLinux: #mkdirLinux.py #python script to make linux DIR import os script_command='mkdir /home/test/%s' def mkdirLinux(arg): os.system(script_command%arg) #end of mkdirLinux.py Form Data: <form action="doMkdir" method="post"> <input name="desiredDir" type="text" size="25"> <input type="submit" value="Submit!"> </form> doMkdir method: <dtml-if "portal_membership.getAuthenticatedMember().has_role('createDIR')"> <dtml-call "mkdirLinux(arg=desiredDir)"> <dtml-else> <h3>Permission Denied!</h3> </dtml-if> The "doMkdir" method was called without any error. However, the desired Linux directory did not get created. For testing purposes I've set /home/test/ to chmod 777. My Python is not very good. Does anyone have any ideas what i am doing wrong? I just wanted to allow people with the role "createDIR" to create a linux dir. thanks, Mike > unrestricted python code is needed (external method, > or product). if you don't care about the response from > the shell script then using os.system will do the > trick.. please validate your input from the web before > passing to something like this... > > import os > script_command = 'mkdir /root/path/%s' > > def execute_my_script(arg): > os.system(script_command%arg) > > if you need to process output try one of the popen > modules (see docs on python.org) ZCVS has a nice > abstraction over this in its ShellCommandProcessor; > > hth > > -k > > --- "Tran, Mike" <mtran(a)shufflemaster.com> wrote: > > Hi All, > > > > How do i create a method that will excute a shell > > script when called? > > I just wanted to run a local shell script when a > > user clicks on a button. > > > > Appreciate any suggestion, > > > > Mike >

In a FS Dri View is there any way to differentiate between a DTML method and DTML document?? Value of radio button
by Rebecca.R.Hepper＠seagate.com 26 Jun '02

26 Jun '02

Hello All, I have the following bit of code that loops through and creates a radio button for every folder. I would like the value of the radio button to be the title of the folder. How do I do that? That code below does not work -- it uses the actual name 'foldersName' as the value of the radiobutton not the title of the folder. Thanks!! <table class="normal"> <tr> </tr> <tr valign="top" align="left" tal:repeat="folders python:here.objectValues('Folder')"> <th tal:define="foldersName folders/title" tal:content ="foldersName">Title</th> <td><input type="radio" name="release" value=foldersName></td> </tr> </table>

RE: Zope group calendar
by Charlie Fulton 26 Jun '02

What I'm really looking for is something where users have their own schedule, and others can view and schedule meeting in their free time. Rather like domino or exchange does, but with the warm and fuzzy open source feel. :) I suppose one could build on dtml-calendar to make something like this, but it seems like it would be a non-trivial project. Problem (100) Init Amb... why??
by Aseem Mohanty 26 Jun '02

26 Jun '02

I am doing the following: om_class = OFS.ObjectManager.ObjectManager manage_main = Globals.HTMLFile ('dtml/dtml_doc_1', globals ()) manage_contents = om_class.manage_main and I get the following error: with -d set 2002-06-25T04:40:53 PROBLEM(100) Init Ambiguous name for method of Products.NBSUsers.NBSUsers.NBSUsers: "manage_main" != "manage_contents" ------ 2002-06-25T04:40:53 PROBLEM(100) Init Ambiguous name for method of Products.NBSUsers.NBSUsers.NBSUsers: "manage_main" != "manage_contents" Now a nice man once told me that it doesnt really make a difference and that its just a warning, and as far as I have seen he was absolutely right. However I would like to know why this error occurs?? Even in other products that raise such an error, the code causing the error is pretty much similar to the one above. So what exactly is the cause of this error ? What's wrong with the code-snippet above? Python.exe application errors
by Dean Houghton 26 Jun '02

26 Jun '02

Hi We have an application built using Zope which is working great except that we get python.exe crashes (generates application errors and terminates). The errors seem to occur randomly and are therefore hard to replicate. The application has quite a few external scripts which interact with the Windows API. The verions in use are show below :- Zope Version (Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32) Python Version 2.1.3 (#35, Apr 8 2002, 17:47:50) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] System Platform win32 the actual platform is Win 2000 Prof SP2 Does anyone have any ideas or pointers as to how to start tracking this problem down ?? I have got the drwatson log file but it does'nt make much sense !! Thanks
