redirect to a renamed folder
by Tim Hicks 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Now I'm pretty sure this is some sort of faq, but I'm really having trouble doing what I thought would be simple. The Problem: I have a site which needs to have one of its subfolders renamed from (say) 'foo' to 'bar'. All subfolders within 'foo' (now 'bar') are the same. No problem so far, but people will have the old url's bookmarked, so I want to redirect people requesting for example: /site/foo/blacksheep to /site/bar/blacksheep. What I've Tried: I figured I'd user standard_error_message to catch 'NotFound' errors, and perform a redirect. This is proving more difficult than I'd anticipated. Here is what I came up with: <dtml-if "error_type"> <dtml-if "error_type == 'NotFound'"> <dtml-let new_path="_.string.join(_.string.split(error_value, '/')[2:], '/')"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('http://192.168.2.2:9980/test/'+new_path, status=301, lock=1)"> </dtml-let> </dtml-if> <dtml-else> missed it </dtml-if> The problem is, this seems to redirect to something looking like http://192.168.2.2:9980/test/H2> (including the >). I guess 'error_value' is not the variable I want. I thought maybe I would want TraversalRequestNameStack, but that doesn't appear right either. Really, I want a list of url segments so I can drop in my new folder name in place of the old one, rebuild the url then redirect, but I'm not sure how to do that. Any ideas? cheers tim ps Another way I thought of was to maintain an empty folder named 'foo' with an accessrule python script in it that catches the traverse_subpath and does a redirect, but I'm not sure if that should even work in theory. I haven't used accessrules before, and I had trouble getting things to work. From the archives, I found that I can't use RESPONSE.redirect() from an accessrule, but have to use raise. However, I couldn't get this to work either.

call multiple urls from python script
by Joshua Newman 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

I need to call multiple urls from a python script that gets input from a form. The script builds several URLs that look like: (http://some.paging.site&pagernumber=23423424&sender=someone&message=this+sc…) And I want to send it as a URL. It works from any browser but I want to do it from a python script. I can't use response.redirect because there are multiple pager numbers for each script. Is there some python method (not external method if at all possible) that's available or some trick that I can use to send out multiple http requests from a script? Thanks, Joshua p.s. You Germans out there owe an American for the heartbreaking loss this morning. We were going all the way... ;)

foxpro
by Liz Pelletier 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Does anyone know how to connect a foxpro database to the web using Linux, Zope and Postgresql? Right now, we're using dbf2pg to convert the data 5 times a day from foxpro to postgres, but this is just a stop gap solution. The data is not updated, but the tables are 50M each and running the conversion takes more than an hour. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Liz

Using superclasses from new ZClass
by felix＠chaptereight.com 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Hi I want to make a i18n-aware ZClass for a product catalogue. I am learning to use Localizer for the i18n. In the tutorial, it explains how to make external products that use the Localizer classes (LocalPropertyManager in particular). Is it possible to do the same using ZClasses? I have made a new ZClass and have used LocalPropoertyManager as a superclass, but I don't know how to use its methods, etc. Felix.

Programmatic HTTP POST
by Kevin Carlson 21 Jun '02

Hi everyone, Does anyone know of a product that allows a zope application to programmatically create an HTTP POST to an external system? If not, would it have to be done in an external script? Any ideas? Thanks, Kevin

errors with Page Templates
by Kristina Quimson Buenafe 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Hello, I am working on a site with Zope 2.5.1, CMF 1.3beta1, and Plone 0.9.9. I accidentally installed older versions of some Page Templates and TAL things and overrwrote the ones that came with 2.5.1 and now my site won't work properly. Is there a way to reinstall the Zope components without having to redo all of the content? The errors are as follows. thanks, Kristina Buenafe Traceback (innermost last): File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: VCANportal) File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: index_html) File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: index_html) File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\Products\CMFCore\PortalContent.py, line 116, in __call__ (Object: index_html) File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 252, in __call__ (Object: document_view) File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 283, in _bindAndExec (Object: document_view) File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\Products\PageTemplates\ZopePageTemplate.py, line 210, in _exec (Object: document_view) File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\Products\CMFCore\FSPageTemplate.py, line 98, in pt_render (Object: document_view) File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\Products\CMFCore\FSObject.py, line 106, in _updateFromFS (Object: document_view) File C:\Program Files\VCAN\lib\python\Products\CMFCore\FSPageTemplate.py, line 74, in _readFile (Object: document_view) File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\Products\PageTemplates\PageTemplate.py, line 120, in write (Object: document_view) File C:\PROGRA~1\VCAN\lib\python\Products\PageTemplates\PageTemplate.py, line 157, in _cook (Object: document_view) AttributeError: HTMLTALParser instance has no attribute 'getWarnings' _________________________________ Kristina Buenafe University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science kqb7a(a)virginia.edu (434) 244-9760 (home) (703) 585-8384 (cell)

Re-post of a roles problem: please help
by Aseem Mohanty 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Sorry for the repost, I desperately need help on this and any help would be greatly appreciated. The problem being that I have a custom User Folder loosely based on mysqluserfolder, without the cookies and session stuff, for that I use Cookie Crumbler and CST. Otherwise the code is pretty much the same with modifications to suit my purposes. Now lets say I have a user with role "X". I set up a folder that is veiwable only be ppl with role X via the security tab. When I try to view it, zope refuses entry to me. When I do a AUTHENTICATED_USER.getRoles or _.SecurityGetUser().getRoles() I get alist that has Authenticated User, Anonymous and X in it. I looked up and walked through the validate function in my UF and printed out roles just before it calls authorize and the list of roles is the same there too. My authorize function is the following: authorize__roles__ = () def authorize (Self, user, roles, REQUEST): v = REQUEST ['PUBLISHED'] # the published object a, c, n, v = Self._getobcontext(v, REQUEST) allowed = AccessControl.User.BasicUserFolder.authorize (Self, user, a, c, n, v, roles) if not allowed: return None else: return user Its essentially the same as in mysqluserfolder. The authorize() function in my UF also seems to be letting me (allowed = 1) in if I have the right role but I still get kicked out. As I said I am using Cookie crumbler and CST (I dont think this has anything to do with it) So who is kicking me out?? If my UF says I am cool and I have the right roles why am I getting kicked out?? Any pointers. Re: [Zope] removing newline character from returned python string

Does anyone > have suggestions on how I could fix this? > XML = XML.replace('\n','') is likely to do the job by removing all newlines.

DB2: accumulating db-connections
by Stephan Herschel 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Hi, We're using ZDB2DA as an interface to DB2 and we're experiencing the problem that the connections from zope to the database seem to be increasing over time. So from time to time i have to reset all connections. Has anybody seen similar behaviour with this or other database adapters? Any solutions? Thanks in advance! Stephan

getting a zope site to run on windows 2000
by Kristina Quimson Buenafe 21 Jun '02

21 Jun '02

Hello, I just started working on a Zope site (Zope 2.5.1, CMF 1.3beta1, Plone 0.9.9, Windows 2000) for my thesis project. I am not sure how to set up IIS so that the static IP URL will point to the Zope site. Can you explain how to do this properly? I don't think setting the path to C:\Program Files\Zope Site will work. thanks, Kristina Buenafe _________________________________ Kristina Buenafe University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science kqb7a(a)virginia.edu
