How to store variables in one session

Hello, I want to write an application which builds a SQL query after answering a set of questions which were presented on several HTML pages in some forms. At first I've thought that I could store the answers in the REQUEST object but I found out that this object does not store values of variables over several requests. Thus I need a way to store some variables over a certain number of user interactions. In the Zope Developers Guide I found something about "ZODB Persistent Components" (Chapter 4) but first I do not understand how to do this with dtml and second I'm really unsure whether this is the right method for my application. I would like to know what is the best way to store some values temporarily in one user session. Kind regards Andreas.

Antonio -- What's your table declaration look like? MySQL has a number of different string formats, all with somewhat different limits. VARCHAR, for example, allows for data with a predeclared maximum length of between 1 and 255 characters. Then there are TINYTEXT, TEXT/LONG VARCHAR, MEDIUMTEXT, LONGTEXT, etc all with different size limits. Check the MySQL documentation for the various formats supported. -dra

Hmm. This works: - Create zopeedit.bat file containing: START C:\python22\pythonw.exe "C:\Program Files\ZopeEdit\zopeedit.py" %1 - Edit the zopeedit.py script to explicitly specify the location of ZopeEdit.ini - In ZopeEdit.ini put editor = C:\cygwin\bin\bash --login -c 'xemacs \'%1\'' - Point the application/x-zope-edit helper to the zopeedit.bat file. This variant, however, has the disadvantage of leaving a full size command window (created by bash.exe) up during the editing. Also, I haven't been to skip the batch file by Mozilla the pythonw call directly. I'm not sure why, but it just fails to work for me. Solution: External Edit and cygwin under W2k

Here is the necessary magic to use External Editor's zopeedit.py with cygwin's python and xemacs under W2K: 1) Put zopeedit.py in your cygwin home directory (or edit the location in the zopeedit.bat file). 2) In C:/cygwin/zopeedit.bat put: @echo off C: chdir \cygwin\bin START /MIN bash --login -c '~/zopeedit.py \'%1\' & echo HI! ; sleep 10; exit' 3) In ~/.zope-external-edit put: editor=xemacs 4) Set up your web browser and/or file associations per the usual instructions to run C:\cygwin\zopeedit.bat --- Notes: 1- the escaped single quotes: Without these "C:\temp\file.ext" gets mangled to "C:tempfile.ext" before zopeedit.py gets it. It took a bit of fiddling to find this oh-so-simple solution. I also tried using pythonw and launching cygwin's xemacs from that. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to keep the filename from getting mangled that way. 2- START /MIN: there doesn't seem to be a way to prevent a command window from hanging around as long as zopeedit.py and the associated xemacs window are running. ZCatalog

Hi, is it possible to use ZCatalog as a base class for Python based products? If so, does anyone know if there any examples available, which I haven't been able to find? If not, how do one implement fast search mechanisms in Python based products? We've been thinking of using "mxm Easy Product" in our product. Does anyone have experience from it? hi guys I try to add properties to a file via dtml, without success! I get a "Authorization required" message.
