can not start zope with STUPID_LOG_FILE variable set

Data.fs corruption

Well it had to happen. Zope running with data and Im parusing the file structure. Not too smart. Restarting zope and of couse it tells me the data.fs is corrupt. Was wondering if there is any way to restore it as there is some rather important data there. Panic has not set in yet but by tomorrow....:( Any suggestions would be really helpfull at this point and very much appreciated. Chris H. Hi all, I've got some problems with my News product. For the rendering of it, I let the site owner choose between DTML Methods and Zope Page Templates. In the Add Form he can check a checkbox 'Add DTML Methods' or a checkbox 'Add Page Templates' (or both). In the __init__ method of my product this works as follows: def __init__(self, id, title='', zpt_add='', dtml_add=''): """Initialization News Product""" self.id = id self.title = title if dtml_add == 'yes': ## checkbox 'Add DTML Methods' checked self.dtmladd() if zpt_add == 'yes': ## checkbox 'Add Page Template' checked self.zptadd() One of the methods looks like this: def zptadd(self): """Check whether to add a Zope Page Template""" self.createZPT(self, 'News_template', '', self.init_News_template()) Which calls createZPT: security.declareProtected('Change News','_createZPT') def createZPT(self, parent, id, title, content): """Add a PageTemplate to the News product""" parent._setObject(id, ZopePageTemplate.ZopePageTemplate(id, text=content)) parent._getOb(id).pt_setTitle(title) This works all fine. But afterwards, when the site owner has (by accident) deleted the News_template, I want to give him the opportunity to add it again. (To do it in ASP you'd need to add Application variables, keep refreshing them when pages are accessed, and probably handle starting a connection in the session_start in global.asa, which is equally a pain) An applet would run on the client machine - quite a few chat sites use java applets to facilitate real-time communication, for example. It's not at all like ASP, and would be restricted to clients that have Java enabled, and would require a server program to maintain the connections. That would be more reliable in some ways because the applet be kept running on the client (perhaps in a hidden frame so it's not apparent or reloaded), and the server just needs to monitor how many connections are open, and limit it to whatever number. It's not that practical when you can't assign another IP address or port, and you need to write the client and server applets, however, and wouldn't really be a Zope-based solution, either. Unless you need an absolutely real-time method, rather than ones that can hold a session open for a few minutes extra, use the other method suggested. The best way may be to write a product that increments the values. You may be able to avoid using persistence, too - since you would reset the active connections to zero when the server is rebooted, too, but I haven't tried anything like this in Zope myself so I'm not sure, and any implementation would have to be done by someone else... Well, you can add a property to the PortableHole telling you. The idea of a symlink/PortableHole is that you dont have to worry about where it points. Zope 2.5 and TransparentFolder incompatibility

Google doesn't tell me anything definitive, but it seems that the laudable TransparentFolder product is incompatible with Zope 2.5. Something about a conflict with session tracking? Is this so?
