ZTP here vs container

In the ZopeBook an example is given for listing all the information for objects in the current folder. To make it work with subfolders (ie. the page template stays in the root folder, but access it via subfolders) I changed the container/ to here/, and it worked as expected. The current folder objects were displayed rather than always the root folder. Now, i've been trying to use this technique to list the subfolder of any accessed folder but it doesn't seem to work. For example (to demonstrate), if i put this in a page template in my root folder: <p tal:content="container">container</p> <p tal:content="here">here</p> <p tal:content="here/get_folders">here/folders</p> And then access the page template from subfolders, i can see the value of "container" always stays the same (of course), and the value of "here" changes (as I'd expect), yet the list returned by "here/get_folders" always stays the same, where i would expect it to change with its context (but it continues to always list of folders from the root container)... Surely I am missing something simple? (using Zope 2.5 on FreeBSD 4.5)

Size of a ZClass string property

How do you get the size of a string property attached to a ZClass? I have tried (txtfrench being the string property) <dtml-in "objectValues(['bout projet'])"> <dtml-var title><br> <dtml-var txtfrench.getSize()><br> </dtml-in> but it does not work... Problems with ExternalEditor & CMS

hi, I wanted to install CMS (tried 1.3beta & CVS). After adding a CMS-SITE I always get a RuntimeError (traceback 1 below) when I want to manage my ZOPE-Root. Tried the same with a fresh install of ZOPE without Caseys excellent ExternalEditor and all works fine. So I tried to deinstall ExternalEditor... but this didn't work!!! inheritance in python product

hello, I've a problem to have a class which inherits from zope base classes (Role.RoleManager, Acquisition.Implicit, ObjectManager.ObjectManager and Persistent) and classes from another package. As soon as a class inherits from one of the zope base class, I get an exception when I try to instantiate an object of this class. This exception is raised when I try to call the ancestor constructor: ZNodeImpl.__init__(self, id, title) TypeError: unbound method __init__() must be called with instance as first argument this sounds like my class doesn't inherit from ZNodeImpl but it does !! If I remove the zope base class, everything works correctly... it seems to have some python black magic here. Anybody can explain this to me or give some pointers ? TIA -- Sylvain Thénault

ZPT rendering

Hi people, I'm experimenting with ZPT and I need to ask you about the rendering in ZPTs. Let me explain my problem with an example: I have a folder with some DTML Documents in it (I'm putting DTML Docs as an example object that renders itself to show some content, ok?), and I have a ZPT template that iterates through the DTMLs list in that folder and call its rendering method one by one this way: <ul> <li tal:repeat="child container/folder/objectValues"> <span tal:replace="child"></span></li> </ul> Every DTML Doc outputs HTML code (obviously), and let suppose that they do not output an entire HTML page, but some HTML formatted text between <h3> and </h3>. My problem is that when I ask the ZPT to render itself, it doesn't take the DTML Doc's output _literally_, but what it does is convert all HTML Tags to <b> and so on... How can I make ZPT _not_ to convert all HTML tags to &blabla;? What I'm doing is developing a Zope Product that will permit the web developer to treat every graphical entity as a widget, as in GNOME programming for example. So that every widget will be an object that passes itself to a SkinManager to be rendered, and well, I'm having this problem, what can I do? A Vote for Zope Bible

Just thought I'd say I received my copy of the Zope Bible yesterday and already am quite taken with it. It has answered three questions I had and anticipated two others in only 3 hours of reading. The chapter on ZPT seems quite good. Combined with the struggle I had over the past few days to get to a basic understanding of this important topic, I'm encouraged to think I might actually get to be fairly comfortable with it before I'm done. It also has what appears at least to be a very strong chapter on debugging, a subject which has been a frequent bane for me. I am encouraged.
