I am not sure what you mean by trying EventFolder. I have a folder called "events". I can use dtml-in and call all the dtml documents in the folder, but I only want to call one of them. --- eric.n.dunn(a)bankofamerica.com wrote: > > > Have you tried EventFolder? > > > > > > G F <gscotfleming(a)yahoo.com> on 06/03/2002 11:39:47 > AM > > To: zope(a)zope.org > cc: > Subject: [Zope] Accessing a DTML object > > > > I am hoping some knowledgeable person out there can > help me. > > I am trying to make a simple little web calendar. > The > first page that of the calendar is a list of dates > that come from a bunch of DTML Documents in a folder > called 'events'. Including tags verbatim in an DTML document?
by Uwe Schuerkamp 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

Hello, I would like to include XML tags within a DTML document for documentation purposes which should be displayed verbatim, i.e. not evaluated by DTML (currently I only get blank spaces where the tags should be). Is there a special dtml tag that "disables" the use of <blabla> for tag elements? When you create a Python product you need to subclass some classes (this approach is called mixins) that gives you the behaviour you want. All I have done is to pre-assemble the most commonly used classes in a single class. So EasyProduct only does what you would have to do yourself. There is nothing hard or magical about it, and it doesn't use anything esoteric to get stuff done. It's just more convenient. So a product that subclasses easyProduct is as plain a product as any you would write yourself. It's just makes it easier to get started. Probably when you have finished, your product you have overwritten the default methods provided by easyProduct and you could just have written the product from scratch. So the goal will probably be the same, but the road there is easier and more gradual. > I got some good advice from Tim who said that it looks harder to > create Python products than it actually is. Yeah ... well in my experience you only learn something if you build something for yourself that you want to use :-/ > Thank you for your great help! You are welcome! regards Max M

Thanks. So does that mean that I should copy the skins directories from the Windows machine to the linux machine to get everything I currently have in my windows installation? -Sean > Subject: Re: [Zope] windows->linux migration > > > if your new zope instance on linux has the same products > installed then > migration involves the following: > > - copy Data.fs into the new instance > - start the new instance > > ...and if you have CMF instances in your ZODB already you > must go to each > CMF skins tool and adjust the "Filesystem Path" property for every > Filesystem Directory View object so that the correct path > separator is > used. > > jens > > > On Monday, June 3, 2002, at 12:55 , Kelley, Sean wrote: > > > Hi, > > I am setting up a Zope/CMF based intranet on Windows 2000 > and wish to be > > able to migrate to Linux in the future. If I add MaxMs minimal-product to lib/python/Products startup fails in an odd way: Traceback (most recent call last): File "Zope-2.5.1-linux2-x86/z2.py", line 476, in ? zdaemon.run(sys.argv, os.path.join(CLIENT_HOME, Zpid)) NameError: name 'CLIENT_HOME' is not defined If I set CLIENT_HOME to "var" and try again, the next missing identifier is SOFTWARE_HOME. And on it goes. All those identifiers are supposed to be defined in ZServer, but they aren't, or so it seems. The source for the Minimal-Product looks okay. What's more, this bummer also happens if I change the FTP_PORT from 8021 to 8121. To me it looks as if any change in .py-code to the standard package causes a re-compile that fails. I'm using Zope 2.5.1 on Linux and the python-interpreter that comes with it. Ideas, anyone? Zope Integrated Library System
by Tim Chase 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Zope folks, I have been a python programmer for about as long as I have been a librarian, which is seven years. I consult with a large metropolitan library regarding their automated systems. I recently began the planning stages of taking over as the sole librarian at a local church and at a very small high school. I am familiar with the Integrated Library System (ILS) products from most of the major vendors, so I am also familiar with their prices and problems. I began looking for an Open Source option for my new libraries (see http://www.oss4lib.org) There are only a few viable options. Koha is a Perl/MySql system currently used in several New Zealand public libraries. There are two SourceForge projects that have semi-working catalog and circulation systems: OpenBiblio and PhpMyLibrary, both using PHP/MySql. Judging from Slashdot (http://slashdot.org/askslashdot/00/08/22/2040245.shtml) very few programmers have an appreciation for the complexity of an ILS. Zope has been identified by the library community as a tool for patron portals (see http://www.oss4lib.org) but I can't find any mention of a Zope-based ILS, maybe because Zope programmers do appreciate the complexities of metadata and dealing with the MARC format. All of that was prelude to this: Zope seems like the ideal platform for an ILS. I am more of a Zope integrator than a Zope developer, but it seems like an ILS in Zope would be less complicated and more flexible than a similar program using another framework. OCLC has a MARC to Dublin Core translator (http://alcme.oclc.org/marc2dc/index.html) I assume that something like this could be used to populate catalog records and possibly even holdings records (there is a MARC format for Holdings Information). What are your thoughts? I have no experience designing such a large system, but I would much rather use a Zope-based ILS than any of the current Open Source offerings. Thanks for your time, --Tim Chase chase(a)iac.net

Class with a File as a Attribute/Property
by Damon Eckhoff 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Hello: This is my first attempt at creating a Zope product so I'm trying to figure out a thousand things at once... I would like to create a product class that has a File object as a class attribute. Something to the effect: Class foo: _file = None _anotherFile = None setFile( self, file ): "Sets the file" _file = file getFile( self ): "Returns the file as a File object" return _file setAnotherFile( self, file ): "Sets the file" self._anotherFile = file getAnotherFile( self ): "Returns the file as a File object" return self._anotherFile I'm not sure where to start. I've looked through Image.py to get some insight. I don't want to create my own File class, and I don't want to subclass an existing File class either. Am I basically on the right track? I haven't found any good reading on this topic... So I'm scouring source code (that I don't really understand yet). I appreciate any help and any ropes... Flailing, Damon.
