Problems with Versions and Zope 2.5.X
by sbergmann＠weblog.de 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Hello! I´m working with Zope 2.5.0 for a while now. But I have a problem to work with versions. Sometimes I get the following error when I try to work in a version and then "view" a object: Error Type: Unsupported Error Value: TemporaryStorage is incompatible with versions Does somebody know this problem. It´s not always coming up so I can´t reconstruct it. When I quit working in the version in such a case, refresh the Browser, and start again working in the version, the error is away. I don´t understand it and hope that somebody knows the solution. Bye Steffen

Elvis and Zope : Is the Elvis Lives tutorial a mistake?
by Jan Smith 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Newbies to Zope are encouraged to work through the Elvis Lives tutorial I completed Elvis Lives DTML tutorial about a year ago and have been dabbling in Zope/DTML fairly bumpily since. The high priests of code say forget DTML and give very solid reasons for using Zope Page Templates and incorporating some python scripts when necessary. The major reason they argue is that the code will be clean and easy to maintain, DTML can quickly become a confused mess when you go back to update or make a change. Python they encourage is a good first programming language to learn. Zope is moving away from DTML towards ZPT so perhaps it's time recast Elvis into a ZPT tutorial format. Many Zope newbies come from a design or html background it would be nice for us to be pointed in the right direction from the start. Waiting at traffic lights in Beale St Memphis I had a near Elvis experience. I heard Elvis and a woman talking behind me. I turned around and saw a fat tall bald guy in his sixties chatting to his partner. On my second day in Memphis I realised nearly all local men spoke like Elvis. I tried to discover Zope Zen via DTML but haven't quite made it. With a good Elvis Lives ZPT tutorial I may not only be able to hear Elvis I may be able to see him as well :) Jan Smith webmster OzZope - Australia http://www.ozzope.org

logout and IE6 problems
by Aseem Mohanty 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Hi All, Pardon the cross post, since I dont know where exactly my problems lie... I am running Zope 2.5.0 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.2, win32 on a Win2k machine with a MySQL server. I just wrote my first UserFolder based on the mysqlUserFolder product, but with some customized stuff to suit my needs. I basically did not use mysqlUserFolder's session and cookie management and instead, am using ZSession for session management. Finally after several days work I have everything running, barring two problems, one doesnt matter much, the other is a gift of the evil empire which I havent figured out as yet. The first problem: For logout purposes I used the function that handles the logout in ZMI and call it from a form; the function is as follows: def user_logout (Self, REQUEST,RESPONSE): """ Terminates user session """ user = Self.check_valid_mysql_user (REQUEST) Self.__terminate_session(REQUEST) realm=RESPONSE.realm RESPONSE.expireCookie('__ac',path='/') RESPONSE.expireCookie('_ZSession',path='/') RESPONSE.setStatus(401) RESPONSE.setHeader('WWW-Authenticate', 'basic realm="%s"' % realm, 1) RESPONSE.setBody("""<html> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=http://xxxx:8080/test_folder/logged_out"> <head><title>Logout</title></head> <body><p>You have been logged out.</p> </body></html>""") return It basically does the job beutifully and I have no problems. What I would like to do however is to be able log back in when prompted for a login and password as a result of this call. I tested the ZMI interface and it does the same too : once you log-out you have to cancel the prompt box and then try and access a protected resource to get logged back in. I tested the control flow and as a matter of fact when I enter the right username/password combo it goes through 'validate' and authenticates it all right but just doesn't accept it and sends another 401. Any ideas as to hwo to get around that would be great....!! The second problem: All of the above works nicely with all versions of Netscape. On IE versions 5.01 and above however, it behaves exceptionally badly. In that I can login and a nice little session variable is created, and the cookies are set up, and when I log out, the sessions are cleared and cookies thrown out and I get prompted to log in which if I cancel, I get booted to the logged out page. All nice and clean. However if I press the back button or type in the URL of a protected resource it sends the authentication information back and I am not prompted to log back in. On looking at the session and cookie info, I found that a new one had been created with the same auth information. "It just ignored the HTTP 401 !!!" Now I dont know if that is a bug in IE ( I am inclined to believe it is!! ), but I have tested my package pretty exhaustively and it works without fail in all NS and upto IE 5.0. If anybody has encountered the problem before and has figured out how to deal with it 'without' closing all IE windows, I would be immensely grateful if s/he could pass on the information. Thanks for you collective patience. Is it a normal ZSQL Method
by Terry 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Hello list, I had used Zope for months. I found ZSQL MEthod don't have the power to complect my expection. To generate a ZSQL Method to suit my need, I used this, then call by python script Do you consider it is normal, ------------------- Arguments: ar_id fields updates UPDATE tt_hold_ar SET <dtml-let fields="_.string.split(fields,'\0')" updates="_.string.split(updates,'\0')"> <dtml-in expr="_.range(0,_.len(fields))" prefix="loop"><dtml-var "fields[loop_item]">=<dtml-sqlvar "updates[loop_item]" type="string"><dtml-unless loop_end>,</dtml-unless loop_end> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> <dtml-sqlgroup required where> <dtml-sqltest ar_id type=string> </dtml-sqlgroup> ------------------ Python Script: request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE ar_id = str(container.ar_id) fs=us='' ## fs(filed names) , us (updates) fs = container.propertysheets.article.propertyIds() us = container.propertysheets.article.propertyValues() fs.append('ar_section') fs.append('ar_publish') us.append(container.ar_section) us.append(container.ar_publish) fs=string.join(fs,'\0') us=string.join(us,'\0') #print fs #print us #print ar_id container.sql_Update_News(ar_id=ar_id,fields=fs,updates=us) -------------------- or how can I compose a "Query" like: SELECT * article from articles WHERE ar_head NOT LIKE ('%aa%' OR '%bb%' OR '%cc%') AND ar_body LIKE ('%hello%' AND '%world%') In the Query, the "LIKE" could be "LIKE" or "NOT LIKE", the "AND" could be "OR" or "AND", and the total of condiction could change. There could be 1, 2 , or more conditions. ex: SELECT * from article from article WHERE condition 1 AND | OR condition 2 AND | OR condition 3 .. ... . I really really wondering, "Is the ZSQL method is the way to solve" or anything else ??? Hope somebody understand my "english" Thanks a lot -- TerryH

Sort objectValues with ZPT
by Nico de Boer 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Hi all, I want to sort my objectValues('News') at date_add, the date that the News objects were added. I have written a python method to do this: def list_peers(self, sortkey='id'): """returns a listing of peer news objects sorted on sortkey""" itemlist = [] for item in self.REQUEST['PARENTS'][1].objectValues('GNAW'): itemlist.append( (getattr(item, sortkey),item) ) itemlist.sort() return itemlist I can give the sortkey as an argument to the method. Now I want to implement this in ZPT as follows: <div tal:define="itemlist python:here.list_peers"> <div tal:repeat="item itemlist"> <a href="#" tal:attributes="href item/absolute_url" tal:content="item/title">Title news</a> </div> </div> But this doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? Greetz Nico

How to get rid of header and footer information?
by Lorenz Lorenz-Meyer 03 Jun '02

03 Jun '02

Hi, I ran into the following problem with Zope: If you create a Zope document you will probably include something like <dtml-var standard_whatever_header> and <dtml-var standard_whatever_footer> into the main text area, thereby giving layout information for the default rendering of the item. Problem is, when you try to access the main content of the document, say, for non-default purposes like a text-only version or inclusion into some digest, you always get this default layout information too - if you want it or not. So I have two related questions: 1. Is it possible to reference the main content area of a document EXCLUDING the header and footer information, just like a 'clean' property field? 2. Is there a better way than including Headers and Footers, maybe by relating a document somehow with different separate 'template'-like dtml-methods for default and non-standard ways of rendering the document? Sorry, if this is a stupid newbie question, and thanks in advance, Lorenz. ________________________________________________________ Dr. Lorenz Lorenz-Meyer Holstenring 2 22763 Hamburg E-Mail: lorenz(a)clubvolt.de Tel: +49 40 5259 5551 AIM: lorenzlm Mobil: +49 179 139 5819 ________________________________________________________
