A folder will represent an object in a db or several db's It will contain methods for handling data. ZPT's which some how needs to know what other db-objects are of interessent to the user, when looking at this object. Take fx a chair (object1) . A chair is placed in a room (Object2). When viewing the chair - I would like to have a link to the room. When clicking this link I will see the data descriping the room and have links to objects in the room. Am I making sense now? programming local roles

I've setup some code to add a group of users and folders for those users to an existing folder. I want to add to this code so that each user has Manager Roles as local roles within their own folder. Too hard for me at this stage, can anyone help? Extension of the Folder object

Greetz I want to extend the folder object with a property that will link a folder to other folders. The normal tree structure of folders are not an option, and I dont want to have copies of folders lying around. One way to solve this would be, to throw a Python script in each folder an just return a dictionary with the foldernames, that I want to link to. But something a bit more dynamic would be very nice... Any suggestions? \Oliver

sendmail with dtml-var

I made a variable 'mail_group' which appears in <dtml-var REQUEST> as: ['first last <person(a)here.com>','first2 last2 <person2(a)there.com>'] and I want to use <dtml-sendmail> so I have: <dtml-let addr="_.string.join(mail_group,',')"> <dtml-sendmail mailhost="MailHost"> To: <dtml-var addr html_quote> Subject: Feedback from somewhere from: trying(a)somewhere.com Comments:<dtml-var comments> </dtml-sendmail> </dtml-let> But I'm getting totally impenetrable errors: <dtml-var addr html_quote> renders perfectly to: first last <person(a)here.com.,first2 last2 <person2(a)there.com> and if I cut and paste the above line to the 'To:' field, mail is sent perfectly. BUT when i run the above sendmail script I get a page that says only: {'first': (550, '5.1.1 ... User unknown')} If there is just one name in 'mail_group' I get an even weirder page: {'f': (550, '5.1.1 ... User unknown'), 'i': (550, '5.1.1 ... User unknown'), 'r': (550, '5.1.1 ... User unknown'), 's': (550, '5.1.1 ... User unknown', 't': (550, '5.1.1 ... User unknown')} I am totally perplexed. And SUPER frustrated. File objects

Sorry my naive question, i am a zope newbie. According to the zope manual, i should get a file list of the current folder, using the dtml method: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-var document_title></h2> <ul>Files <dtml-in expr="objectValues('File')"> <li><dtml-var id></li> </dtml-in> </ul> </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> but i get a blank page, header and footer only are displayed, even though there are files in folder (a page refresh has been done, to be safe) I am using Zope 2.5.1 So, my first question is: what is wrong in the above code? My second question: can one provide a simple code to all objects included into a folder? thank you -- max

EuroPython2002: Extention of Early-Bird registration

Hi, Due to the fact that at the end of the early-bird date, lot's of people waked up and registered for the congress (and because of the possible internet problems caused by the bancruptcy of KPNQwest), we've extended the early bird until 9th of June. We hope that the doubters among us, will find this interesting now that they are still able to profit from the early bird registration. But be warned, this is the final date! At the moment we've reached a total of more than 150 people at the EuroPython congress. That's already nice for a first congress, but it should be more.... Don't you think you could make great deals with people over there? There must be somebody to whom you can speak about a certain problem. With 150 people, it must be possible to make some friends or to see some old ones back... It can't be that Europe has only such a small group of Python and/or Zope developers/users. What about people outside of Europe? Have you seen the talks? It must be worthwhile to pay a visit to the conference.... and if not... well enjoy the Belgian beer, chocolates and food..... that's something I'm sure you will never forget! And now the early bird registration has been extended, .... so if you had doubts earlier, throw them away and just visit EuroPython2002! Oops. Never mind. After a bit of twiddling I managed to get the DynPersist extension to build properly. For some reason, the ZODB/cPersistance.h file doesn't properly reference ExtensionClass.h . After fixing that, things seem to be ok. Mind you, I'm wondering how my ZODB built properly now when I compiled Zope. Vic

Accessing attributes - object with 'implicit' period in id

Aloha, I'm back with an example. My situation seems different than solutions in recent threads, and I don't see how the answers thus far apply (if they do). I'm looping through the results of a catalog search, displaying thumbnail images, caption, date, etc.. A thumbnail, linked to a full-sized image, is displayed for each result: ... <a href="<dtml-var imageURL>"> <img src="<dtml-var thumbURL>" border="0" alt="<dtml-var caption>"> </a> ... imageURL and thumbURL are properties of each gallery item which point to the actual image, and will be something like: /gallery/thumbs/C03Valley001.jpg I want to get the height and width attributes from each thumbURL item and use them in the img tag attributes. But: height="<dtml-var thumbURL.height>" does not work, giving: Error Value: exceptions.KeyError on thumbURL.height in "" I am assuming this is because in my situation all thumbURL items returned are objects with periods in their IDs. So it's choking on trying to find '/gallery/thumbs/C03Valley001.jpg.height' - is this the case? Or is there some other problem here? In any case, how do I access the attributes (like height and width) in this situation, where the period in the actual ID is 'implicit' in thumbURL? thx, John S. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Aloha, It is, to be more specific, the zope/python combo (and documentation thereof) that I am finding cryptic and mysterious. Python as a language by itself is (relatively ;-) clear for me. At this point I have little or no use for python by itself - but I do want to use it extensively with/in zope.
