Add ZPT at initialization Zope product
by Nico de Boer 30 May '02

30 May '02

Hi all, I am working on a News product. I have build it in python. It is a folderish product and I want that at initialization of the product a ZPT is added in the product. I have tried this with DTML Method and it works fine: self.manage_addDTMLMethod('index_html',title='',file='contents of file') But it isn't working for ZPT. I'm looking for a way to do this, cause I need to use the ZPT in my product. I've tried this: parent = getattr(self, 'aq_parent', None) self._createZPT(parent, 'ZPTid', 'title', 'Template') def _createZPT(self, parent, id, title, content): """Add a PageTemplate to the News product""" parent._setObject(id, ZopePageTemplate.ZopePageTemplate(id, text=content)) getattr(parent, id).pt_setTitle(title) But got the following error from Zope: AttributeError: 'None' object has no attribute '_setObject' The getattr method seems to return None, but the object really has a parent. Am I forgetting something? Thanks, Greetz Nico

Accessing a Database
by Stephan Vladimir Bugaj 30 May '02

I'm trying to do a "like" query in a database... I've created a ZSQL thing like this select foo,bar from xxx <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest ABC op=like type=string> </dtml-sqlgroup> order by foo Now, in the documentation, it claims that the dtml-sqltest operation "like" puts a % at the end of the input string. This is false. So I'm trying to force-feed a % to it to no avail... Putting a % into any DTML seems to indicate an end of file character. Nice. So just how does one go about actually doing a non-exact string match from Zope against a relational DB? Also, I had tried: <ul> <dtml-in expr="zsqlthingy(ABC=Blah)"> <li> <dtml-var login> <dtml-var phone> </li> </dtml-in> </ul> And it tells me "global name Blah is not found"... I had to go create a DTML Method called Blah that contains just the line "<dtml-return "Blah">"... is there some way to just pass a string value (or numerical value) where a string (or number) are expected as input? Finally, if I've got this structure: ROOT ---------------------> (ZSQL scripts folder) |--------------------->(Some folder containing some DTML stuff) How can I call the ZSQL scripts from their folder? They're not being acquired because they are not above the DTML stuff in the heirarchy. Thanks. LL+P, Stephan

> When the xml-rpc marshaller sees a None going *out* of Zope, I think it makes > sense to marshall this is an integer zero (or Joachim suggested the string > "None"). That makes more sense than raising an exception. (In Zope, anyway. > Im not making any comments about other xmlrpclib.py uses) Maybe the new boolean False might be a better choice than 0. Although I'm not sure doing anything with it is the way to go. SOAP may be a better choice... -- Andy McKay

It shouldn't be so difficult with External Methods, using Python's urllib and some link parsing. But make sure to add a socket timeout ( timeoutsocket.py ) so that Zope doesn't get blocked with non responding sites. zOpenDirectory does actually something similar, but with a deeper parsing. nXMLDocument
by Chad Nantais 30 May '02

Has anyone figured out how to adapt the nXMLDocument product to work with Zope running on unix using 4suite for xml processing? Here is the meat of the product, which needs to be changed to work with 4suite. I would like to know what I have to change. I'm sure it's nothing major, likely just some syntax, but python xml is new to me. ----/ nXMLDocument.py /---- . . . import pythoncom from win32com.client import Dispatch . . . def ProcessStrings(self,xsl='',xml=''): pythoncom.CoInitialize() source = Dispatch("Microsoft.XMLDOM") source.async = 1==0 source.loadXML(xml) style = Dispatch("Microsoft.XMLDOM") style.async = 1==0 style.loadXML(xsl) if source.parseError.errorCode != 0: result = self.reportParseError(source.parseError) if style.parseError.errorCode != 0: result = self.reportParseError(style.parseError) try: result = source.transformNode(style) except Exception,e: result = self.reportRuntimeError(e) return result . . . ----/end/---- -- -- Chad Nantais Rednaxel Interactive cnantais(a)rednaxel.com

Converting DTML IN loop to Repeat loop ZPT
by Nico de Boer 30 May '02

30 May '02

Hi all, I'm trying to convert a dtml-in loop to a repeat loop in a Zope Page Template. I want to create a chain menu with options: Previous | Current | Next. This is my DTML Code (list_chain is a python method that returns three objects (Previous, Current, Next) or None for the object that doesn't exists. Example: The method returns (None, Current, Next) for the first object. <dtml-in list_chain> <dtml-if sequence-start> <dtml-if sequence-item> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>">Previous</a></dtml-if> <dtml-elif sequence-end> <dtml-if sequence-item> <a href="<dtml-var absolute_url>">Next</a></dtml-if> <dtml-else> <b><dtml-var title_or_id></b> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> I tried something and it looks like this (but I get errors): <div tal:repeat="item python:here.list_chain()"> <a class="gnawlink" href="" tal:condition="repeat/item/start" tal:attributes="href item/absolute_url">Previous</a> <a class="gnawlink" href="" tal:condition="repeat/item/end" tal:attributes="href item/absolute_url">Next</a> </div> Can someone help me?
