by Roger Ineichen 29 Apr '02

Hello together, I've a problem with upload a picture and the method cookId(id='', title='', file=file). This method doesn't work for me? The method cookId() doesn't give a id or a title back. Why? Whats wrong? Form -------------------------- <form action="addFile" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="file"> <input type="submit" value="upload"> </form> Python (not pythonScript) -------------------------- def addFile(self, file): "This method adds a file" # create the file if(file): id, title = cookId(id='', title='', file=file) self.manage_addProduct['P01_DownloadFolder'].manage_addFile(id=id, title='', file=file) Second Way I tryed (the manage_addFile() call the cookId by standard. -------------------------- def addFile(self, file): "This method adds a file" # create the file self.manage_addProduct['P01_DownloadFolder'].manage_addFile(id='', title='', file=file) cookId is a method from Image.py -------------------------------- def cookId(id, title, file): """ it gets the id from a file """ if not id and hasattr(file,'filename'): filename=file.filename title=title or filename id=filename[max(string.rfind(filename, '/'), string.rfind(filename, '\\'), string.rfind(filename, ':'), )+1:] return id, title The error: ---------- The "id" is not defined cookId does not set the id, How can id get the id from the file in a different way. Is the Form enctype="multipart/form-data" wrong? What should i use? Thanks to all and have a nice week. Roger Ineichen ___________________________ END OF MESSAGE

checking view permissions
by Tom Rockwell 29 Apr '02

Hi, I have a simple file library type page, and am tweeking it a bit so that anonymous users don't see all the file upload options etc. I'd like to hide the "add file" link from anonymous viewers. On the dtml method that shows a file upload form, I changed the "View" permission to "Authenticated" users. On the file library page, I wrapped a <dtml-if> around the code that makes the link to the upload page: <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER.has_permission('View', upload)"> <a href="upload">Upload</a> </dtml-if> However, for unauthenticated users, Zope gives the error that "upload" doesn't exist. So apparently, if a user can't View an object, they also can't call .has_permission('View' object). Am I missing something? To work around, I just used a <dtml-if upload>, dtml-if has nice behaviour when objects aren't found. I'm using Zope 2.5. Cheers, Tom Rockwell

why file.update_data permission is python only?
by Tom Rockwell 29 Apr '02

Hi, Now that the builtin File object can be edited via the web, I'm wondering why the update_data method for Files has permission "Python Only". What is gained by restricted this method, when delete and file upload methods are accessible? I'm using Python 2.5. Thanks, Tom

500 error from windows only!
by Gregory Dudek 29 Apr '02

Synopsis: only windows users are getting a 500 error when they should get a login screen! I'm running a zope site and using the (deprecated but easy) Generic User Folder for cookie mode login (although that product may not be the issue). Many (all?) users from explorer on windows currently get a 500 Server Error when they get to a page that needs authentication. Users from any "normal" OS like linux or MacOS (9 or X) using either netscape, explorer or mozilla get a nice normal login screen. How is it possible the only windows users are getting the 500 error screen and might anybody have a hint re. how to fix this? There is nothing interesting in the logs. If you want to see this for yourself, it's visible at: http://www.mudcritters.com (it's a not-for profit kids gaming site that's suppoed to sneak them educational material.) Thanks, Greg

It would be helpful if you could be more specific about the problem platforms. Have you tried to use Netscape on Windows? If that works fine, then you can eliminate Windows from the problem and concentrate on Internet Explorer issues. If Netscape and Mozilla on Windows won't work, then might I suggest that you try to find out which versions of Windows are involved. Note, I've been able to handle Zope authentication using Win95/98/NT/2k without problems (in many cases using either Netscape and/or Internet Explorer). While I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, I am hard pressed to think that this is an IE problem (without more information). Cookie problem
by Dennis Allison 29 Apr '02

Can anyone shed some light on this problem? I am working on a site where the screen is divided into a pair of frames -- a left index frame and a workspace frame. The left index consists of links which select pages to be loaded into the workspace. The target pages need to know the index that selected them. Workspace selection is many one. I wrote a small python script that takes a parameter, plants the parameter value as a cookie, and then redirects to URL1. The links in the left index frame thus look like <a href="some/source/setCookie?cookie=value" target=workspace B> The setCookie script is very simple request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE RESPONSE.setCookie('myCookie', cookievalue ) RESPONSE.redirect(request.URL1) The results are mixed. I constructed a little test case and have tried it on four different browsers. It works on some and not on others. All redirect to the right place, but some of the browsers don't set the cookie on the flyB. This is all running on a vanilla Zope 2.5 installation using Zope's native server. Wisdom and suggestions for a workaround greatly appreciated. Using this technique will greatly simplify the site.
