Batch property change of ZCataloged ZClasses
by Milos Prudek 24 Mar '02

I need to loop over a subset of ZCataloged ZClass instances, change a property, and reindex the ZClass. A simple approach fails: for i in context.Catalog_Org(userid=uid): l=i.userid l.remove(uid) rid=i.data_record_id_ obj=context.Catalog_Org.getobject(rid) obj.propertysheets.data.manage_changeProperties(userid=l) obj.reindex_object() The above Python Script will change only one ZClass instance, no matter how many exist, because when "obj.reindex_object()" is reached, it causes the loop to end immediately. A data_record_id caching makes the script work: rids=[] for i in context.Catalog_Org(userid=uid): l=i.userid l.remove(uid) rid=i.data_record_id_ rids.append(rid) obj=context.Catalog_Org.getobject(rid) obj.propertysheets.data.manage_changeProperties(userid=l) for rid in rids: obj=context.Catalog_Org.getobject(rid) obj.reindex_object() Is it a bug or feature? I run Zope 2.4.3 on Linux. -- Milos Prudek

overriding security acquisition
by ra＠burningman.com 24 Mar '02

Hi, I'm building an app that has a security model that is a bit contrary to Zope's acquisition path for local roles. There are folders that represent 'team's, and a role I've defined of 'member'. Some teams have sub-teams, and these team folders have the sub-teams' folders within. The problem is, if I make someone a 'member' of a team by giving the user a local role in that team's folder, then that person becomes a member of all the sub-teams, since the permissions acquire upward. This isn't what I want. Is there a way to get Zope to not climb the acquisition tree when doing its local role calculations? -r

In-browser WYSIWYG editor?
by Emanuel Borsboom 24 Mar '02

24 Mar '02

Pardon me if this has been addressed before, but I'm looking a way provide content editors with an easy-to-use simple WYSIWYG editor that edits structured text (simple HTML would be okay too) on the site. Basically they should be able highlight text and emphasize or bold it, specify the heading level of a paragraph, create bulletted or numbered lists, and insert images and links. What they have done should be immediately reflected in what they see on the screen, like they're using a word processor. This would obviously require some client-side code, such as a Java applet. Is there any such product available for Zope? I've looked on the web site, and the closest I've found is SmartSections, which really doesn't do what I need. If not, I'll probably write something myself using a Java applet. -- Emanuel Borsboom http://www.nuel.ca/

Where is my context
by Thomas Olsen 24 Mar '02

Hi I have a small filesystem based python script which I use to get some variables to use in a page template. The script collects the variable and returns a dictionary to by used in the page template. A snippet of the the script: ## Script (Python) "getAgendaVars" ##parameters= ##title=get variables for the Agenda ## vars = {} if context.meta_type == 'Media Manager Live Event': # get title vars['title'] = 'Sub Event Title' # stuff removed for clarity elif context.meta_type == 'Media Sub Event': # get title vars['title'] = context.title # stuff removed for clarity else: raise "Wrong meta type %s" % context.meta_type And a snippet from the page template: <span tal:define="global vars here/getAgendaVars;" /> <input type="text" name="title" value="title" tal:attributes="value vars/title|nothing"> This works excellent for a while, then if I leave it for some time I get: Error Type: TALESError Error Value: exceptions.RuntimeError on Products/MyMediaManager/zpt_skins/getAgendaVars.py has errors. in "standard:'here/getAgendaVars'", at line 5, column 1 And if I reload the page I get: Error Type: TALESError Error Value: exceptions.NameError on global name 'context' is not defined in "standard:'here/getAgendaVars'", at line 5, column 1 I have rewritten the python script several times and I totally baffled about whats happening -- Regards, Thomas Olsen http://www.tarpit.dk

Any ideas? i think the urllib call never times out, resulting in all zope threads being used how can we timeout a urllib call? i have wrapped the urllib call in a try except, but that wont do anything useful if the urllib call has been done, would it? can i fake a time out? thanks for any ideas > >Bye >Marcus > >-- >Petition for a Software Patent Free Europe >http://petition.eurolinux.org > > >_______________________________________________ >Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org >http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope >** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** >(Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) >
