re: Zope and SSL

Hi, Just to add my 2 euros to this thread. The methods I use are for normal http, I route thru Apache using virtual hosting and a rewrite rule: <VirtualHost *> ServerAdmin webmaster(a)domain.com ServerName www.domain.com ErrorLog logs/domain.com_error_log CustomLog logs/domain.com_access_log common # # note Zope.fcgi DOES NOT EXIST !!! # FastCgiIpcDir /tmp FastCgiExternalServer /usr/local/apache/htdocs/fcgi \ -socket zope.soc \ -pass-header Authorization DocumentRoot "/usr/local/apache/htdocs/fcgi" DirectoryIndex index_html SetHandler fastcgi-script RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/(.*) /usr/local/apache/htdocs/fcgi/Zope.fcgi/domain.com/$1 [L] </VirtualHost> For https, it is a little more complicated, as I employ a variety of web technologies for my secure site and don't wish to delegate everything to Zope. I presently use my port 443 Apache as a proxy server for a number of other servers (including other Apache servers) in addition to serving up dynamic html. Vanilla Zope would appear not to support https, so my proxy requests are all insecure once they have reached my port 443 server. This is a very private network and not a concern for me at least ... Here is my (partial) Apache config for this: <VirtualHost _default_:443> ... # # Zope Management API # <Directory proxy:http://localhost:8080/manage> Order Allow,Deny Allow from all </Directory> ProxyPass /manage http://localhost:8080/manage ... </VirtualHost> With this method, no FastCGI needs to be explicitly set, and there is no need for any VirtualHostMonster's nor any other sort of gremlin to be set within your Zope server either! Comments welcomed, Cheers, Alan _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.

Navigation with index_html
by Egon Frerich 24 Feb '02

24 Feb '02

Hello, I'm looking for a better solution and ask the list for some advice. What I want to do: I want to show the content of a folder in a structure. - group1 + document/folder abc + document/folder bcd + document/folder cde - group2 + document/folder aaa + document/folder bbb + document/folder ccc - group3 ... The titles of the documents and folder should be ordered. What I have done: Every document and every folder has got a property (in german: "Anzeigetyp") with a group id (in german: "Anzeigen", "Anlegen", etc). My code follows: <ul> <li>Statusanzeige</li> ### This is the group name for the group id 'Anzeigen' <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues(('Folder', 'DTML Document'))" sort=title_or_id> <dtml-let Inhalt=sequence-item> <dtml-if expr="hasProperty('Anzeigetyp')"> <dtml-if expr="Anzeigetyp == 'Anzeigen'"> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"> <dtml-var title_or_id></a> </li> </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </ul> <li>Anlegen</li> <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues(('Folder', 'DTML Document'))" sort=title_or_id> <dtml-let Inhalt=sequence-item> <dtml-if expr="hasProperty('Anzeigetyp')"> <dtml-if expr="Anzeigetyp == 'Anlegen'"> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"> <dtml-var title_or_id></a> </li> </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </ul> <li>Bearbeitung</li> <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues(('Folder', 'DTML Document'))" sort=title_or_id> <dtml-let Inhalt=sequence-item> <dtml-if expr="hasProperty('Anzeigetyp')"> <dtml-if expr="Anzeigetyp == 'Bearbeiten'"> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"> <dtml-var title_or_id></a> </li> </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </ul> <li>Sonstiges</li> <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues(('Folder', 'DTML Document'))" sort=title_or_id> <dtml-let Inhalt=sequence-item> <dtml-if expr="hasProperty('Anzeigetyp')"> <dtml-if expr="Anzeigetyp <> 'Anzeigen' and Anzeigetyp <> 'Anlegen' and Anzeigetyp <> 'Bearbeiten'"> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"> <dtml-var title_or_id></a> </li> </dtml-if> <dtml-else> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"> <dtml-var title_or_id></a> </li> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </ul> </ul> This is a very time consuming solution because for every group there is a loop. (And I've the suspicion Zope not only gets the titles from the objects but executes the objects in some way). So I ask me if there is the possibility to order the objects into groups according to the property and within the property according to the title. With this ordering and only one loop Zope should give the results quicker. Thanks, Egon Frerich

Vehicle registry solution?
by Morgan Fletcher 24 Feb '02

24 Feb '02

I am going to be building a set of registries for a certain brand/marque automobile. (We've got a club, on-line registry is a project of mine.) Do you know of any zope-based solutions I could leverage for something like this? We'd want pictures and maybe ten or twenty database fields, as well as an associated mailing list. We're already running Mailman 2.0.8 on the site. Server is composed of netbsd, postgresql, python, apache. I've downloaded Zope 2.5.0 but I haven't built, installed or configured it yet. Thanks, Morgan

ANNOUNCE: Iptc and Exif reading support. A ProductExtension to Photo123
by Ausum Studio 24 Feb '02

24 Feb '02

Yes, it was a large thread and as far as I've read, with no comsecuences. So taking into account all the considerations I'll call my patch temporarily a not hot, not cold, hopefully cool, "ProductExtension", because it is what it is, isn't it. :) So, here we are again: -------------------------------------------- Hello Zope fans For those of you wanting to use IPTC and EXIF metadata embedded in images from news agencies or similars, I've uploaded a ProductExtension to the Photo Product 1.2.3 , that performs the following: - Allows reading of IPTC and EXIF info from JPEG and TIFF files. - Uses PIL as core parser to provide limited support for other image formats like BMP, TGA, TIFF, PSD, PCX, EPS. - Creates displays (in jpeg) for those new supported formats, when possible. Thanks to Fredrik Lundh and Robert F. Tobler for the core readers, and thanks to Ron Bickers for the Photo Product. I'd like you to consider these as default features for a future release of Photo. Here's the download page: http://www.zope.org/Members/ausum/Iptc_Exif_reading_support Ausum >From: "Ron Bickers" <rbickers-dated-1015124536.6280c3(a)logicetc.com> >To: "Ausum Studio" <ausum_studio(a)hotmail.com>, <zope(a)zope.org> >Subject: RE: [Zope] ANNOUNCE: Iptc and Exif reading support.
