Hi all, I've been playing around with Zope for several days and really like it. I'm amazed at how simple so many things that take alot of effort in php, asp etc. are amazingly simple in Zope. One of those things is file upload, which works but still puzzles me. I have a form in a dtml method that looks like this: <table> <form method="post" action="testAction" enctype="multi-part/form-data"> <tr><td><strong>FileTitle</strong></td><td><input type="text" name="item_title" maxlength="30"></td></tr> <tr><td><strong>Select File</strong></td><td><input type="file" name="item"></td></tr> <tr><td align=center colspan=2><input type="submit" Value="Add File"></td></tr> </form> </table> I figured out that using a python script I can add the file just by referencing it's name from the form, which is incredibly cool: context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFile('newFile', item_title, item) What I'd like to do is easily grab the filename: context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFile(item.filename, item_title, item) My question is, how do I get the filename or headers? I'm guessing that when I reference 'item' I'm getting a FileUpload object. What confuses me is that I can't reference item.filename or item.headers['Content-Type']. I've also tried using REQUEST['item'].filename like I've seen in several examples. What am I doing wrong here? METAL & parameters?

Hi, I have a METAL define which just draws a pretty little box with a title and content: <div metal:define-macro="box"> <table bgcolor="#000090" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="200" align="center"> <tr><td> <table border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width="200"> <tr><td bgcolor="#000090" tal:attributes="bgcolor string:#000090"> <font size="-1" face="Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif" color="#ffffff"> <strong><div metal:define-slot="title">The Title</div></strong> </font></td></tr> <tr><td> <font class="element"> <div metal:define-slot="body">Contents goes here ...</div></font></td></tr> </table></td></tr> </table> </div> What I would like to be able to do, is set the "bgcolor" attribute dynamically when using this macro. It is not obvious to be whether this is possible or not. The tal:attribute clause is invalid as I have nested tags. Is there any xml-ified version of the good old fashioned C #define functionality for this situation?? ZPT doco errors

Hi, I am not sure if this has been raised before on the list (a quick search of the archive did not indicate so), but Chapter 9, Advanced Zope Templates (pdf version), has an example on page 157, batching, with the ZTUtils Batch class, with the following: <body tal:define="employees here/getEmployees; start python:path('request/start') or 0; batch python:modules['ZTUtils'].Batch(employees, size=10, start=start); previous python:batch.previous; next python:batch.next"> The line: start python:path('request/start') or 0; should read: start python:path('request/form/start') or 0; The default to zero does not work for me either. Instead I get a keyError on request/form/start not found (which goes away if I call this template with a hidden value). Assistance in fixing this would be appreciated too. ObjectManager instance as an attribute of python product

I've written python base classes with something like this: class MyObjectManager( CatalogAware, ObjectManager ): pass class MyClass( CatalogAware ): contents=MyObjectManager() ... In a ZClass that subclasses MyClass I create a view (amongst others) that points to a dtml method like this: <dtml-with contents><dtml-var manage_main></dtml-with> I can access the view on an instance of the ZClass, but when I do so, I lose all the management tabs for the MyClass ZClass and none of the links are correct in that they all point to ".../MyInstance/manage..." intead of ".../MyInstance/contents/manage...". There's plainly a lot I'm not getting here, and I'm not at all sure where to go from here. Override a redirection in response

Hello, I'm trying to "veneer" the ZMI's rename form. Everything works util an error is rised (i.e. rename a file to an existing file name); the manage_renameObject() method in CopySupport.py then redirects to manage_main: try: ob._notifyOfCopyTo(self, op=1) except: raise CopyError, MessageDialog( title='Invalid Id', message=sys.exc_info()[1], action ='manage_main') <- why isn't this conditioned? (i.e.) to the existence of a certain variable, as in ... if REQUEST is not None: return self.manage_main(self, REQUEST, update_menu=1) return None Trying to catch the exception is in vain, the redirect remains. So, is there anyway to catch this exception or at least to remove the redirect from the RESPONSE? This is my code so far: <dtml-try> <dtml-with "REQUEST.resolve_url(path_to_container)"> <dtml-call "manage_renameObject(ids_item, new_ids_item)"> <- kaput </dtml-with> <dtml-except CopyError> <- doesn't work, redirect remains. <dtml-call "errIds.append(ids_item)"> </dtml-try> ... <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(URL1)"> <- ha, ha, ha ... update_data()

I'm writing a python Script that handles user uploaded files (among other things). I'd like users to be able to overwrite files and looking at the API update_data() appears to be what I want. I did notice the caveat that it was callable by Python only, but no good explaination as to whether this meant just External Methods or Scripts or something else. And, sure enough when I try and use the Script I'm shown a login box and asked for authentication (even when the admin already). When I cannot authenticate I'm told that I don't have the proper permissions. So, there are two questions here, 1. just what is allowed to call update_data() 2. is there something else that I can call instead? Cheers, -- Bryan C. ZSQL Methods and multiple SQL statements

Hi is it the intention that ZSQLMethods could contain more than one SQL statement? eg (ridiculous example I know) insert into foo values('bar'); delete from foo obviously in the case of query, you only get the last result set. The reason I ask, is that this currently doesnt work with ZMySQLDA 2.08 / MySQLdb 0.9.1 This seems to be because in the mysql client the call to mysql_real_query c function is only expected to take one SQL statement. Of course the code above works correctly in the mysql interactive prompt. If the ZSQLMethod is meant to take multiple statements then I'd better look at fixing it. What do the other DA products do? calling a DTML method with arg

I have several pages where I want to list some information about patients in my database, and want to have a single DTML method called listPatient which takes pid (patient id) as an arg and lists the information for that patient. The basic idea is that I have many DTML Documents that need to list patients in a variety of contexts, and I want to have a single method that controls how patients are listed, so as I upgrade my database I won't have to change the patient listing format in many places Something like <dtml-in expr="get_pids()" mapping> <dtml-call expr="listPatient( 'pid=%s' % <dtml-var pid>)" > </dtml-in> But I am having trouble figuring out how to set up a DTML method to get an argument like this. Is this possible? Can you recursively nest DTML methods/documents? Thanks John Hunter

ZCatalog results.

Im trying to make 2 searchs on one ZCatalog and merge both into a single result, but I had no success on removing the duplicated results. Has anyone did this (almost sure)?
