Zope binary distributions
by Erik Stephens 01 Feb '02

Possibly dumb questions, but what the hell. For a binary Zope distribution, is it built with or without PCGI? We use FastCGI, so we build without PCGI. I'll assume that binary distributions are built with PCGI. Is there a way to get a binary Zope distribution from D.C. without the PCGI? Given the recent problems we're having with needing certain build options set and specific versions for Python, it would be nice if we could rely on a binary Zope distribution and not have to second guess that we are screwing up somewhere in the build process. Am I missing the boat somewhere? Thanks, Erik

sendmail problem

Hi, When creating a form that sends mail I get a following error: STMPDataError Error Value: (554, 'No date field given') Any suggestions? (Sorry if it is obvious, but I'm not sure what goes wrong. I think that I have selected the right SMTP host). Many thanks, Agata

To achieve du-like behaviour, I guess it would be nice to recurse into sub-folders too :-) It should'nt be too hard either. "upload local files" permission
by Daniel Mahler 01 Feb '02

I was looking through my security setup and noticed that "upload local files" permission was set for anonymous. I do not remeber setting this so I presume this was the default. Is this good idea? What exactly does it permit? thanks Daniel

Re: [Zope] Getting REQUEST in product method by default

> class ZMyClass(MyClass, Folder): > """ Zope Folder subclass """ > def getData(self): > REQUEST = self.REQUEST > RESPONSE = REQUEST.RESPONSE > ... validate REQUEST variables ... > return MyClass.getData(self, REQUEST['user'], REQUEST['field']) > > This way you can use <dtml-var getData> without passing > any arguments. This works great! Thanks! But I see that there is something else wrong with my plan. When I try to call MyClass.getData(self, ...), I get an error essentially saying that my ZMyClass instance is not an instance of MyClass, so I can't call that method. Python's isinstance tells me that this is the case even though issubclass verifies that ZMyClass is a subclass of MyClass. Is it not possible to wrap regular Python classes with Zope wrappers simply by inheriting from the regular class and a Zope class like Folder/SimpleItem? Kevin Smith Kevin.Smith(a)theMorgue.org

In case this is useful to anyone else, there is a python script for removing an NT service here: http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/ActivePython/539919. It uses ADSI which will have to be downloaded from Microsoft. And there's lots of other useful stuff there as well. by Dietmar Hackl 01 Feb '02

Hi, as I have to set up an administration tool for managing the webhosting part of our company (creating user accounts, teams of users, ftp-access, etc.), I was thinking about using Zope for this. Does anybody have experience with that sort of Zope application? thx Didi Dietmar Hackl Webmaster European Schoolnet Rue de Treves 61 B-1040 Brussels tel. +32 2 790 75 59 fax. +32 2 790 75 85 ------------------------------- eSchola 2002 08/04 - 09/05 2002 A Week For eLearning in Europe Join in at: http://eschola.eun.org --------------------------------
