'make clean' for Zope-src
by Ivo van der Wijk 01 Feb '02

Hi, We experience incidental crashes with Zope 2.4.3 / Python 2.1.1. I've read that python 2.1.2 may fix this problem, and people who upgrade are advised to rebuild Zope as well. However, I have a rather custom Zope source tree. Is there a way to do a proper 'make clean' in the zope tree? Removing *.o *.pyc *.so *.pyo doesn't seem to do the trick - I end up with an even more unstable Zope (and very scary python stack frame errors). With regards, Ivo -- Drs. Re: [Zope] ZOPE 2, IIS and PCGI

You don't need the source distribution. If you download the binary distribution for Windows, zope.cgi can be found in the root of the Zope installation, and the Persistent CGI stuff can be found in the pcgi directory. To open the source distribs, you need a utility like WinZip or StuffIt Expander on your PC. Actually, any compression program that handles tar and gzip compressed files should do the trick. dear zopers ... has anyone ever tried to link swocket ( http://swocket.sourceforge.net ) to zope-resources ? i think it would be interesting to authenticate against acl_users and using the ZODB within the socket-server. ever heard about such an approach? .urs http://zope.hyperwerk.ch/ube/portfolio

Problems with editing Zope stuff via ftp from Emacs
by Christian Wittern 01 Feb '02

01 Feb '02

Dear Zopers, I have read the archives and googled the Web, but could not get this fixed: Connecting to my Zope from Emacs works fine, but after a while (some minutes), Emacs and Zope are confusing each other and lock. It appears that while I am looking at a file, Emacs suddenly starts thinking it is not a file, but a directory and tries to CD in there as hard as it can. The result is lines like this without endin the *ftp ..* buffer: ftp> cd /Control_Panel/Products/ZTopicMapN/xtopicmap/propertysheets/methods/getScope_py\ / 550 No such directory. ftp> cd /Control_Panel/Products/ZTopicMapN/xtopicmap/propertysheets/methods/getScope_py\ / 550 No such directory. ftp> cd /Control_Panel/Products/ZTopicMapN/xtopicmap/propertysheets/methods/getScope_py\ / 550 No such directory. Has anybody encountered this? Is there an easy fix for this? I am using Zope 2.5.0 on Debian GNU/Linux sid, Emacs is 21.1 Any help appreciated, Christian -- Christian Wittern Institute for Research in Humanities, Kyoto University 47 Higashiogura-cho, Kitashirakawa, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto 606-8265, JAPAN

Hi all: Could someone point me to some good documentation on creating/editing/managing users programmatically? I've been searching... but I must be searching for the wrong thing... Thanks, Damon.
