Situation with VirtualHostMonster, url rewriting ...
by Heimo Laukkanen 02 Jan '02

02 Jan '02

Hi all, I have a bit of a situation with url rewriting and I feel that I have tried all I can. Now this is the situation. I have a Zope running a couple of services. One is running with VirtualHostMonster really well -- it is the ideal case also covered in the howto. Meaning I have a domain www.xxx.com and it is directed to top level folder xyz. No problem. The problem comes with another service I have running. It is running in top level folder, but the domain is not fully to this service. Meaning that www.sss.com/ABC/ would be served from zope's root level folder abc. Everything else is somewhere else served by Apache. So in zope's root folder I have xyz and abc. Xyz works. I try to make abc work with following rewrite: RewriteRule ^/abc/(.*) /var/www/cgi-bin/Zope/abc/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] It works, but -- now this is the annoying part -- the /abc/ comes visible into the urls after following a couple of links on the pages. And it doesn't come visible only once - but twice. Meaning that users will see url: www.xxx.com/ABC/abc/abc/page_id And that sucks. I tried to use VirtualHostRoot -- but it didn't seem to help. Atleast I did not get it to work. -huima

Hey Jerome, Good point. I made a change to the three places where they were accessing the images and put in an absolute_url. I tried it in Mozilla and it does work better. Let me know if it works for you... http://www.bwanazulia.com/discussions/test/ Thanks, BZ On Wed, 2 Jan 2002 00:07:18 +0100, Jerome Alet <alet(a)unice.fr> wrote : > Hi, and happy new year. > > I've tested it for the very first time, read below. > > On Tue, Jan 01, 2002 at 05:02:08PM -0500, BZ wrote: > > > > As always there is a ZUBB test board here: > > > > http://www.bwanazulia.com/discussions/test/ > > > > All suggestions, comments, flames welcome. > > the icon_folder image is not cached by the web browser > because its url isn't absolute (I think). [Fwd: Anyone know how to pre-expand a certain branch of a dtml-tree?]
by Craeg K. Strong 02 Jan '02

02 Jan '02

Hello: I want a certain branch of my dtml-tree to be pre-expanded whenever the webpage that contains the tree is displayed. My dtml-tree is quite simple; I use the usual subordinate folder structure setup: <dtml-tree single=0 name="catalog" branches="objectValues"> TIA! --Craeg

Does anyone know how to suppress display of +/- signs on a dtml-tree?
by Craeg K. Strong 02 Jan '02

Hello: I want to display a dtml-tree always expanded, with no controls visible for contracting (basically, an indented list of links). I set the tree to always expand via the following: <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('expand_all', 1)"> <dtml-tree single=0 name="catalog" branches="objectValues"> But I can't figure out how to remove the little minus signs (-) from the branches. Has anyone done this? TIA, --Craeg

iterating over key/value pairs

I would like to dynamically generate a list with an HTML SELECT tag where the displayed values are strings and the returned value is an integer code associated with that string I have access to two External Methods, one returns a list of strings and the other returns a list of codes associated with those strings: get_descriptions() and get_codes() The DTML I currently have is <SELECT NAME="race"> <dtml-in expr="get_descriptions()"> <OPTION VALUE="<dtml-var sequence-item>"><dtml-var sequence-item></OPTION> </dtml-in> </SELECT> but this returns the string selected, and I want the code returned, as I indicate below with 'code-here' <SELECT NAME="race"> <dtml-in expr="get_descriptions()"> <OPTION VALUE="code-here"><dtml-var sequence-item></OPTION> </dtml-in> </SELECT> I can add or modify the External Methods to return something more appropriate if necessary. Is there a way for an external method to return objects that would have 'code' and 'description' attributes that dtml-var could access? Thanks, John Hunter

_.getitem(object,1)
by Heimo Laukkanen 01 Jan '02

I just read the mail at url: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/79225 <dtml-var "_.getitem('object',1)"> And was wondering what the ,1 in that statement meant? Apparently it makes the object print out correctly, when without the ,1 comes encoded. -huima
